Eh, most of us have CCW's so it isn't like we are unprotected, but it can be upsetting to realize it. Luckily I live rather far from work so I tend to get left alone.

You're right. Reform is definitely needed. Law enforcement is currently too politically inclined, there are race issues in some areas, there is corruption, and there definitely needs to be more accountability. I am not denying that. My issue is just with the way issues are being brought up because the finer points are being ignored and only the race issue is being brought up. I know some areas it is excessively bad, but that is not the case all over. It has gotten to the point that even in very ethnically diverse departments we have to worry about who we are sending where and try to match ethnic officers with perps of the same race. :/

I mean. I understand the frustration of illegal immigration. But people don't take on the status of "illegal immigrant" because its fun dodging government officials and only being able to hold the most menial of under the table jobs. They do it because it takes thousands of dollars and years to get a legal status. If you get one at all. And I think its not fair to take out your frustration on the immigrants- or to assume that ESL speakers are illegal immigrants- when its the government's fault that everything's so damn fucked up.

If the immigration process was in any way fair and reasonable, I would completely and totally agree with you. You can only take out if you're willing to put in. But if the system is so flawed that we're not giving these people a fair opportunity to put in, then I can't find it in my heart to tell them, "Do it "fairly" or get out." There is no "fair" way to immigrate. There's a legal way, but let me tell you, its a load of bullshit and there's nothing fair about it.

My stepfather was technically an "illegal" alien. My mother married him and he's still not considered a citizen. They've jumped through hoops for years and gotten no where. He speaks perfect English. He pays taxes. He holds a job. He owns a house. They still wont grant full citizenship. Our immigration processes are a bit stupid.
