I still don't know why more people don't make their gifts or buy some stuff through out the year.
At this point I have most everything bought.
I just have to get something for Miscreant (just have to send in a book order), figure out something for his dad & my dad.
The Dad's are always the hardest to figure out what to get.
I have even already got mom's gift from each of us, she is getting metal roses from the Renaissance Festival.
I got her a dark green, Miscreant got a dark purple, got dark blue for Adder & a yellow one for his girlfriend to give her. Got a red one & a gold one for Dad to give her.
Even already have the vase & some other stuff to go with it & packaging for it all.
I know Adder never thinks about stuff like that & since Dad is going through cancer treatments he doesn't feel like or really have the money to get stuff so I made Adder help me buy them for Dad.
The vase has a card with it claiming to be from her furry children.
I don't go to the Black Friday sales & I don't do any online shopping.
Guess that makes me a little odd.
I'm working on some wooden roses arrangements for a few gifts this year & if I can get any time away from work I will be baking some.
I've been trying to get mom to commit to a day to teach us girls to make her homemade bread.
I almost always just make goodie bags full of homemade sweets for the adults. It's much cheaper and easier, just make a variety. For The kids, I buy a few things and give goodie bags. (None are my kid, just nieces/nephew's.)
Found out today that my mom finally had her traecheotomy removed, which means she might be coming home soon! (She's been in the hospital since May and been 4 hours away for two months.) So, maybe she'll be home for Christmas.
This is gonna be a rough holiday season for us. Last Thanksgiving was the last holiday we got to spend with my Mother in-law, she died in February shortly after Valentines day.
Sorry for the depressing thoughts there.
Goodie bags are always fun to make.
For the kids I used to shop & grab some of the different toys & stuff after holidays & then put them in their bags. Most kids don't care if they get a wind-up Easter bunny or vampire fangs for Christmas, they just enjoyed getting a lot of little stuff.
We would put them in big brown paper bags so they had something to color on.
I always put crayons in them that I would usually get during the back to school sales.
The kids had a blast with them.
Now all the kids have grown up & are in their late teens & nothing makes them happy. :(
The goodie bags for the adults usually contained some baked stuff like cookies, cupcakes or gingerbread. Also had some sort of candy in it like homemade mints or something like that.
Last year we just did gift baskets full of stuff for entire families. If I remember correctly it had 2 different chex mixes in it (one sweet & regular), a jar of homemade jelly, bag of cream cheese candies, cookies & bread.
A few people got shortbread, but sadly not many because it takes so long to make & one pan of it got burned.
You know what makes my eyes mad? This. Also that I didn't change something up here and now I have to have an ugly "Last edited" line on this post.
I said, "This is correct punctuation."
"This is correct punctuation," I said.
I used the term "correct punctuation."
That "found myself a cheerleader" song is weird.
If that song really says "I can't feel my face when I'm with you," I can't decide which song's weirder.
I asked, "Is this correct punctuation?"
"Is this correct punctuation?" I asked.
Does that song really say "I can't feel my face when I'm with you"?
/c-c-c-combo breaker!
THAT "? MAKES MY EYES SO MAD THEY COULD TELEKINETICALLY SMASH A BABY. /inside joke

My niece and nephew are close to their teens. Right now, they're still easy to buy for.
My husband and I ended up having a small Thanksgiving lunch for just the two of us. It was nice.
