It's good if you want to fall asleep right afterwards! Not if you have a ton of studying left to do and you just want to take a nap, haha :P

awh.
I think it actually helps that way too.
When you have too much energy you end up wanting to do other things and not homework or studying, lol.

There's nothing wrong with having each other's backs, but there is something wrong with choosing not to prepare a second option because you know someone's at your back. There's nothing wrong with taking risks, but you should be padding yourself for the worst scenario, and your padding should be "family and friends" as little as possible.

It really doesn't have to be one thing or the other. I just think its both safest and most courteous to have a lot of back-ups that you can do on your own, then if all of those fall through, you can ask for help from the people who love you. Its not bad to need support, but it is bad to take advantage of the fact that its there. You should always do everything in your power to make your own way before you rely on someone else.

I respect your opinion.
But there's only so much you can do on your own, especially if you have limited resources and are not in the position to do otherwise. I'm not saying they should take advantage of it. I'm saying if they choose to help you and want you to pursue your dream, then it's their choice and they're not being taken advantage of. Especially if you are earning income and decide to return the favor. I mean, if they weren't? Then definitely they should try to make a different option.
If it's a person that does have the means and are able to do the things you said, then that is definitely a good plan.
It just can't be applied to everyone. Everyone has 2 sides of the road to choose, and not everyone chooses the same route.
The prideful part of wanting to do everything on your own is admirable but doing it to the point where you end up in the hole and finally ask for help isn't a good option either. It's not wrong to ask for help or need extended help until you get on your feet. As long as you're doing something in return and giving back, it all works out in the end.*
It's all good, though. Life is life and people choose different ways to get where they wanna be.

I don't think people can make it on their own. Nor am I suggesting that they should plan on it. I just think everyone should be pulling their own weight and only ask for help when its necessary. If its your dream, then you should be the one that takes the brunt of the work it takes to make it come true. Not all of it, but a good majority of it.

[QUOTE=salvete;1773562026]Mr. Wrong, sometimes the box was made in china, but the contents were not. I remember my friend giving me jewelry as a gift one time, and although the box had a made in china sticker on it, the jewelry certainly was not made there :)
While what you say is certainly true, I did so scrutinize the contents of this pink box carefully and was able to see through its cellophane cover a chintzy donut that was a little different than other donuts. What made this donut stand out as chintzy was that it had a little more girth than donut you would see at Dunkin' Donuts or Krispy Kreme and was topped with this pink paste-like substance I suppose was icing, but more closely resembled drywall repair spackle.
All of this coupled with the fact that the notorious "Made in China" sticker stated no distinction between either that of the box or of the contents therein leads me to conclude that the entirety of this poor choice of a Valentine's Day gift originated from the world's factory.
On a positive note, I am heartened to learn that your friend has the discernment necessary to know not to buy you some some trinket made in China. Salud!

I don't actually care they don't care. They've been that way since I was 5. And I am 21.
I had many years to digest the fact they wont care what I do.

Well no, he bought me something made by an Israeli jeweler, I believe, and more expensive than I would have assumed it to be just by looking at it
and you are very observant, I see, with your description of the donuts and all!

Of course! The people are just background support, kinda. I mean, like I mentioned before it's not just about monetary help. Emotional help to keep your sanity while pursuing your dream counts for a lot too. xD

ah, donuts.
I miss cinnamon sugar twist donuts!!
It's like no one here has ever made them here.
All the donut places here, including Dunkin' Donuts, use powdered sugar...which is just gross. It tastes like chalk :T

No, I was explaining to Sal How my family is.
I know people suck since a recent friend pretty much tossed me out for "cooler"
people. And I've known her longer than her so called new friends.
