Valentines day is just a fairly meaningless over-commercialized holiday that has been exploited by card, candy, and flower companies as a way to make more money.

If you love anyone, (friend, family, or significant other) you should "celebrate" or express that love throughout the year. Not just as a big gesture one day of the year.

Now, see, if they renamed the holiday to the Annual Candy Hearts Hunger Games, everyone would understand.

No ones saying that you have to buy in to the marketable side of ANY holiday, just as no ones saying that you can ONLY show love to someone on this day. I tell my loved ones that I love them on a daily basis, this just lets us all be in an extra lovey mood. And again, I'm not even talking about just a significant other. I make valentine's presents for my family and friends as well.

Even if it's just your pet. Everyone loves somebody. Instesd of spending the day making yourself miserable focus on something you love.

I'm a bit tired. Got done with work, at a decent time for a backstock night too. Got some groceries, got them home. Went to go put them away, but then decided I wanted to clean my fridge first, and then got them put away.

Now it's breakfast time

Look, I never in my previous post said that people should become miserable over a holiday. Nor did I say that I, myself, become miserable because of it.
All I did was state an opinion.
Want to know what I do on Valentine's? If it's a work day, I get up and go to work the same as every other work day.
If it's a day off, I stay home and do housework the same as any day.
I don't make a big deal about love just because it's a holiday.

And I'm not saying that people shouldn't celebrate it either. Want to make some big gesture? Go for it. Want to do little gifts for family, friends or whoever? I won't stop you.

But myself and others are allowed to not love and celebrate a holiday just the same as anyone else is allowed to love and celebrate it.
*shrug*

We usually over look Valentines. Alex made a big deal about it the first year we were together.
But we are more into little gestures during the whole year, not just one day.

HIM's sick of all the adverts for it. Especially the Durex lube advert. Happy Valentines here's some lube...

Argh. I'm getting rather frustrated here. I'm trying to get fabric cut for a quilt, the first two fabrics I cut, nice neat strips of fabric which then cut neatly into squares. The third? Cut a strip, didn't work well. Relayed the fabric again on the cutting mat, again nope. Dug out the gosh darn iron, ironed it out, lined up the edges of the fabric and carefully layed it out on the cutting matt, NOPE.

The fabric doesn't want to be a quilt.

Why is RAK celebrating Halloween?

I don't know that we are. I think the thread title just hasn't been changed for a while...
