On a serious note, I do think our whole farming system is quite messed up, with small farmers everwhere in distress and having to fight against all those big corps . Though I think and hope there will be more demand for ethically and locally producer foods and so they will have no choice but to change their ways. A food revolution sorta Speek. Its necessary, I just read that there are now about 800 milion people in extreme hunger, millions more with not enough variety in nutritions and about the same amount of people obesitas. Crazy

Chlorine chicken. America you have ALOT to explain.

I myself don't research how animal products are obtained. I'm not big on educating myself on what I eat. It ruins all my favorite foods. I know that if I want to be healthier, all I have to do is stop eating everything I enjoy.

Everything is messed up.

And we're all doomed.

That's kind of why I want to do my own fishing eventually. Those mega farms. The food will be better if you earn it, care for it, and do so humanely before you do the butchering.

And I don't understand the cook Ava mentioned. Butchering isn't supposed to be fun. It's just supposed to be necessary.

I see "meat conveyor belt", and I imagine one of those sushi restaurants with sushi rolling along a conveyor belt... but with steaks, pork chops, sausages, and wings.

Or Fogo de Chao with a conveyor belt!

If they had something like that I would be tempted... but the sushi belt definitely sounds amazing. Does NC have those? I have cravings now. Egg sushi is the best sushi.

You also need to be careful where you fish...
In Colorado there have been many lakes that have toxic levels of Mercury that contaminates the fish...and not all of those lakes have warnings posted at them.
I used to love eating trout we caught when I lived in Oregon...but when I moved to Colorado and ate fish that we caught I thought they tasted nasty!...and I stopped fishing because if I didn't want to eat the fish, there was no reason for me to fish for them...and I am not a big fan of the practice of Catch and Release because sometimes the fish get injured before you return them to the water.

I would likely consult with fishing people before deciding a place to fish. I know a few lakes around here that are probably not safe to fish in as well.

Hunters have to be careful, too...as deer can contract Wasting Disease, and their meat should not be consumed by humans.

The deer that come by our property, lately, seem very healthy!
I think they have been hiding here away from the hunters!
