Jarvis was quiet for several moments. "I believe she is adjusting," he said carefully. "If I am correct, based on her behavior, the last of her programming just broke."

"Not right." Colbie grimaced and shook her head. "Something's... strange. Headache."

"Oh no," Maya murmured. "Maybe I can help her, where is she?"

"I'll bet," Bucky murmured. He remembered how it felt when he'd finally shaken the last of his own programming. "Stay with me, alright? Focus on me. You'll be alright soon, you need to finish adjusting."

"In a quieter side room," Jarvis said, obligingly lighting up the blue follow-me path lights for her.

"Adjusting to what?" Colbie focused her gaze on Bucky, shivering a little, not so much from cold as from shock.

Maya promptly followed the lights, ignoring the kicking from the baby and another tight pain in her belly. This one wasn't nearly as strong as the last ones, anyways, now that she was relaxing a little.

"It's rough, breaking out of the conditioning they put on you," Bucky said quietly, taking the throw off the back of the couch and draping it over her shoulders. "It's like the world went sideways, yeah? And you're hanging on by your fingernails?"

Steve was right on her heels, although if he were being honest, he was more worried about her than Colbie. Bucky hadn't called for backup, so he was sure Colbie was fine.

"Yes," Colbie murmured. "That's it. Like everything changed, all of a sudden, and it doesn't make sense."

Maya followed the floor-lights to the room Colbie was in, but stopped just outside the door when she saw Colbie and Bucky inside. Colbie was clearly upset over something, but it was just as obvious that Bucky was helping her, and Maya didn't want to intrude.

"I know how it feels," Bucky said quietly. "It'll take a little while, but you'll feel okay again soon. You just have to adjust to being completely free again."

Steve watched the two for a few moments. Yeah, Bucky had things well in hand. Typical. He always had been good with dames.

"You alright?" he murmured to Maya, too low for the others to hear.

"Doesn't make sense." Colbie frowned a little. "Not 'again'. Not for me." She shrugged, trying to figure out what exactly she was trying to say.

Maya blinked at him, a bit confused, until she realized she had her arms wrapped around her belly.

"I'm alright for now," she murmured. "I just... don't want to interrupt."

"What do you mean?" Bucky asked, trying to parse what she was saying. "You had to have been normal at one point, before the first wipe."

"Come on," Steve said, touching her elbow. "Bruce said a hot bath would help you relax, and Colbie will be okay."

Colbie shook her head. "No," she murmured, frowning. "No. I grew up with Hydra. The first wipe..." She winced and put a hand to her head as it started throbbing in earnest. "To ensure loyalty. I think."

"I'll be alright for a little longer," Maya replied. She massaged her belly with the heels of her hands. "I just need to update Colbie."

Bucky couldn't help some growled swearing in Russian. Once he managed to get himself under control again, he put a hand on her shoulder.

"You're safe here," he said. "Nobody is ever going to wipe you again."

Steve nodded. "We'll give them another minute," he decided.

Colbie nodded, though she was still frowning and clearly not settled yet. She doubted she would be anytime soon, though, so she shook herself a bit, careful not to dislodge his hand, and tried to focus on something else for now.

Maya nodded and just stayed near the door until she could tell Colbie was alright. When she saw Colbie shake herself a bit, Maya decided that was going to be her best opportunity and knocked gently on the doorframe.

Bucky glanced over when he heard the sound, and nudged Colbie a little.

Colbie sat up straight again, pretending very hard that nothing was wrong. "Maya?" She blinked, and tilted her head a bit to invite Maya to come in.

Steve looked at Bucky and raised an eyebrow, silently asking if everything was alright.

Unfortunately for her, Maya could tell something was wrong.

"Are you okay?" she asked, going over to Colbie. "What happened? Are you hurt?"

Bucky just shook his head a tiny bit. He'd tell Steve later.

"Not hurt." Colbie shook her head again. "Just... some things. Took a hit to the head, but I'll be fine."

Steve nodded a little, accepting that, and returned his attention to Maya again.

"Are you sure? Did you get examined?" Maya looked her over. "You're not alright. What's wrong?"

"I did say I will be fine," Colbie said. "I still have a headache." Which was the truth, just not the whole truth."

Maya was still skeptical.

"You're pale," she said. "And trembling. Tell me what's wrong." She sat down next to Colbie, close enough that their shoulders touched. "Please?"

Colbie was quiet for a few moments. "The last of the programming broke loose," she murmured. "Everything's changed."

"Oh..." Maya murmured. She leaned a little against her. "It'll be alright. I think mine faded out, instead of breaking, so it wasn't as bad..." She was quiet for a second. "I'm under doctor's orders to go take a hot bath and relax, if you want to come with me. You could probably use it too."

"I... maybe. Go on and start, I need to decide if I'm... stable enough." Colbie shrugged a little, helplessly. She was not enjoying the feeling.

Maya hesitated, and then nodded.

"Okay," she said. Carefully, she got up again with a soft noise of effort. One hand went to her belly as the movement set off a fresh round of restless kicking. "Before I forget, I meant to tell you that the little one is just fine, no negative effects from earlier. She's just restless, now."

Colbie relaxed a little at that. "Good. That's good. The bath will help calm her again, as well."

Maya nodded.

"That's what Doctor Banner said too," she said. "Hence the hot bath on doctor's orders."

Colbie nodded. "Go on, I'll join you in a few minutes," she said. She just needed the world to stop spinning so much first.
