Colbie quirked a grin when she noticed that, and she managed to not get any sand down her shirt when she split the bag. She huffed a bit and removed the old one, dropping it off to the side for now.

"You look almost as unsettled as I feel," she said quietly, glancing at him, inviting conversation if he wanted it.

"Guess that makes us about even," Bucky muttered in return. "Still not used to it, I guess. This whole thing with the kid."

"Mm." Colbie took a few moments to settle the new bag. "It's not your fault," was what she settled on telling him, watching him out of the corner of her eye.

"Maybe," Bucky allowed, watching her. "But it's still my kid, and God only knows how many more are out there." And he didn't even want to think about what would happen after the kid was finally born.

"Not many," Colbie said, frowning and trying to dig through her brain to find an answer for him. "The project was not as successful as they wanted."

"Still not comforting," Bucky muttered. He was tempted to start beating on a punching bag himself.

"If it concerns you, I could probably still find them." Colbie shrugged, as if it were nothing, no big deal. Not true, but he didn't need to know that.

Bucky was quiet for a good few moments, and then looked away. He wasn't ready to face something like that, not yet. Maybe not ever, he wasn't sure.

"No," he finally mumbled. "Not-- not now."

Colbie nodded her acceptance of that, not pushing further, and settled in to do a bit of stretching.

"Things still feel... odd," she admitted, glancing at him before refocusing on the punching bag in front of her, even if she wasn't hitting it yet.

"You'll get used to it," Bucky said, going over to the bag himself. Hey, if she wasn't going to hit it, he would. "It's jarring, at first."

"Hmm." Colbie watched him for a few moments (though she wouldn't admit to it) before she looked away again.

Things seemed to settle out again over the next several weeks. A nursery slowly got put together for the baby (although, to be honest, Maya had no idea where half of the things came from, they kind of just appeared) and Bucky spent most of his time looking after Colbie and making sure she was really alright.

Tony had started to sneak things into the nursery, not that anyone really needed to know that. And if he snuck things into the girls apartment as well, well, not like he was short on funds or anything.

Steve ended up spending more time with Maya, just making sure everything was going fine, and showing her a lot of movies. His excuse was that she liked them and it helped her relax.

Colbie, meanwhile, was slowly acclimating to life again, though she wasn't exactly social at the best of times. But she managed to hide most of the panic attacks from people, at least.

Maya was settled on the couch with Steve, bundled up in one of his sweatshirts since the weather was turning cold. She would claim it was practical, if anyone asked; Steve's sweatshirts fit her a little better than her own did around an eight-month belly, but really she liked wearing it because it was his.

Bucky knew about the panic attacks, though he didn't say anything. Instead, he let her work through them, and brought her something to eat or drink once the attack was over and she could handle it again. He'd gone through nearly the same thing, himself, so he knew she wasn't likely to actually ask for help, so he did what he could.

Steve didn't mind one bit. One particular afternoon, he was settled in on the couch with her, and he offered her a sweatshirt without even being prompted.

Colbie found herself down in the gym that afternoon, trying to work off some nightmares. She wasn't expecting company, but really, she should have known better by now. Bucky always found her somehow.

Maya smiled a little and accepted the sweatshirt, pulling it on. It was soft and comfy, even though the sleeves swamped her hands, but it smelled like him, and that made her feel safe.

Bucky did indeed find her down in the gym. He could see a few bags already lying in a sad, broken pile off to one side.

"Bags not enough today?" he asked her.

Steve smiled and turned on another movie. This was one he hadn't seen before either. Without even thinking about it, he draped his arm over her shoulders.

Colbie shook her head wordlessly. She was tense still, nearly jittering with excess energy.

Maya leaned against him, tucking herself against his side. The baby kicked a little at the motion, but settled quickly.

"Thanks for the sweatshirt," she murmured to him. "I like this one."

Bucky nodded and gestured to the open floor space.

"Come on," he said. "Spar with me."

"You can keep it, if you want," Steve murmured. "I've got plenty, I don't mind."

Colbie eyed him for a moment before she lunged at him, giving him no warning. He had invited her to, after all.

"I think I might," Maya said, settling in with a sigh. She rubbed her belly a bit, massaging some aches away with her fingertips. The baby shifted under her fingers, rolling over.

Bucky smirked and skipped back a little, raising his arms to block her.

"Come on, give me the best you've got," he said.

Steve grinned at that, a little smug, though he'd deny it if asked. But he did settle in easily.

Colbie moved quickly and silently. She wasn't in a playing mood today, and she knew he could take it.

Maya stayed settled there with him for a moment, and then nudged him gently.

"I think I want to go outside," she murmured to him.

Bucky smirked when he realized that she was giving it her all, and upped the ante as well. May as well give her a challenge to work off her stress.

Steve nodded.

"Want to go anywhere in particular?" He asked, getting up and offering he a hand up.

Colbie actually growled a little at that. She was determined to beat him this time, really.

"I'm not sure," Maya admitted, accepting the help standing. She groaned softly as she got to her feet, taking a moment to let the baby settle again. "I just want to go out."

Bucky kept up with her, though he was surprised she was actually making him work for it. He hadn't had a challenge like this in a while.

Steve nodded, accepting that.

"Well, we can just start walking, head to the park maybe," he told her.

Colbie definitely made him work, and she actually wanted to win this time, too.
