"You and Foggy both," Bianca muttered. Once they were in his building, though, she relaxed, just a little. "Not bad."

"The walk could definitely be worse," Matt agreed as he easily went up the stairs, towards his apartment. He tapped his cane on every stair before he stepped on it.

Bianca waited until they were actually in his apartment to speak again. She took a quick look around and set her purse on the couch.

"Nice place."

"Got it for dirt cheap," Matt commented as he shed his suit jacket and left his cane by the door. He smirked as he heard her get close enough to see the LED billboard from the living room window. "Can't imagine why."

Bianca snorted. "Uh huh. 'Cause every other person in the area would kill themselves because of that board, which I'm sure you know damn well." She shook her head, amused.

Matt raised an eyebrow.

"I've heard it's obnoxious," he said. "I wouldn't know, myself." He grinned a bit. "But hey, it gets me great rent." He gestured to the couch. "Will you be alright out here for the night?"

"Yeah, I'll be fine. Slept worse places before." Bianca shrugged. "It's not leaking, and there's no snow. I'm good."

"I'll grab a spare blanket and pillow for you," Matt said, disappearing into his room. He came back out with a microfiber blanket and a small pillow. "It isn't the best, but it'll do for tonight."

"I'll be fine," Bianca said with a shrug. "Don't worry about it." She did poke around the living room some.

"Alright," Matt said. "Feel free to rummage in the kitchen. I promise everything is fresh. And you're more than welcome to the shower, if you feel like it."

Bianca nodded. "You know, for someone who essentially got volunteered, you're being very nice about all this."

"Would you rather I not be?" Matt asked as he locked the apartment door and headed back towards his room. "Besides, it's not like you asked for it."

Bianca glanced sharply over at him, because that answer was familiar. "People tend not to be kind when things like this happen," she settled on.

"Well, I'm not most people," Matt replied. He grinned slightly. "Or, I try not to be."

"That is quite obvious." Bianca snorted quietly. "Are you hungry?" She moved into the kitchen, starting to poke around in there.

"Give me a few and I'll help you in the kitchen," Matt called as he changed. "Would you like me to lend you anything to sleep in?"

"General disclaimer: Not my fault if you chop off your finger or something," Bianca snarked. "And yeah, that would be nice, thank you." Considering she had nothing but the clothes she was wearing? Yeah, something else to sleep in would be fantastic.

Matt gave a bit of a wry grin.

"I like to think I'm a bit more skilled than that," he said, coming out of his room again. He was wearing an old tee from college and a pair of sweat pants, and he had another tee folded in one hand. "Here," he said. "You can use this for tonight."

"Thanks." Bianca started setting ingredients out on the counter. And then she grabbed the cutting board and set to work.

Matt leaned against the little island that separated the kitchen from the living room, just paying attention to what she was doing. He could smell the ingredients, the cutting board, even the metal of the knife she was using. The rhythmic sound of the knife on the board was weirdly soothing.

"You're good," he commented. "I take it you're the one who cooks at home?"

"Yeah. I took cooking in high school, and I worked as a cook in a diner for a few months." Bianca glanced at him. "Until the owner fired me, anyway." She grimaced a bit. She had liked that job, dammit, except for the stupid owner who hated mutants.

"He obviously didn't realize what he was doing," Matt said as he kept observing. "You're clearly skilled."

"It wasn't a matter of skill," Bianca said carefully, putting some of the vegetables in the pan. "But oh well."

"Which is a pity," Matt said. He grinned a bit. "You could make a killing with those skills."

Bianca grinned. "Well, maybe I'll open a diner," she joked. "After I win the lottery." She dumped more vegetables in the pan.
