Seeing his reaction, Gemini blushed. She hadn't expected that. "Thank you." She said, taking his arm. "And you look dashing as always." She smiled.

Roy smiled slightly at the sound of his daughter's cooing. He got to the car and opened up the back door so they could put May in her seat.

Lori placed May into her car and got into the car herself buckling in with a backwards glanced at May. "Before we know it she'll be out of a car seat." she sighed wistfully.

"Thanks." Al smiled and lead the way to the car pausing. "Do you want to drive or shall I?"

"I don't want to think about that." Roy said. "It'll come too soon. I want to enjoy her the way she is now. Heck, part of me never wants her to grow up."

Gemini brightened with excitement. "Oh, can I drive? I'll drive!" She said.

"I wish that it worked that way." Lori sighed then whistled. "That's a lot of people." she blinked and got out smiling as Riza appeared to escort them threw the crowd.

"Sure you can drive." Al handed her the keys and slid into the passenger seat.

Roy took a deep breath. Part of him- a large part- was nervous having May around so many people. This was the kind of scenario in which assassinations happened. But he wasn't going to let anything happen, and he trusted that his friends would do the same.

Gemini did a quick little dance of happiness and then got in the car. She made sure they were both bucked in securely before starting the engine. Despite her excitement, she drove carefully and they arrived without incident.

"Good job." Al smiled and got out. "A lot of people came out." he blinked and took her arm leading her to the platform.

As Lori stood with Roy May tucked in her arms a man jumped out of the crowd. She saw the gun and gasped as it went off. She squeezed her eyes shut.

Al didn't even think he pushed Roy out of the way grunting when the bullet hit his shoulder.

Roy threw himself in front of Lori and May. As Al was hit, he ran forward to check on him. "Al! Al? Oh God...someone help!" He brought Al down to the floor and pressed a hand over the bullet would, trying to stop the bleeding. "Riza, get Lori and May out of here!"

The world seemed to go in slow motion for Gemini as she whirled around and spotted the shooter. It was mere seconds before she had shot a powerful bolt of electricity at the man, immobilizing him while she jumped down off the platform and tackled him. That much electricity was enough to kill, but she didn't care right then.

Riza pulled Lori away and got her to a safe place. Lori kept May close the poor girl was crying "its ok baby." Lori whispered.

Al groaned flinching when Roy pressed down on the wound. A medic rushed over taking over as several body guard's rushed over to cover Roy and help Gemini. "He's no good to us dead." the leader pulled her off.

"I wasn't going to kill him." Gemini snarled. "Just castrate him."

With everyone else scrambling around in panic, Roy did the only thing he knew how to do- he took charge. He organized a group of guards to secure the area, another group to search our any possible accomplices, and a third to clear the way to the hospital so that the paramedics could get Al there as soon as possible.

The man chuckled and turned her towards Al. "I think your wanted somewhere else." he smiled and then dragged the man into the prison to wait for Roy to interrogate him. 'Are you alright President? Is the little one alright?" he asked when he found Roy.

Gemini turned and saw the paramedics surrounding Al. Without another word, she dashed pack to the platform to be with him. "Al! Is he okay? Is he going to be okay?"

After organizing everything, Roy was about to go and check on Lori and May when the guard came up to him. "I'm fine, thank you. I'm going to check on my wife and daughter now."

"Alright I'll handle things while your doing that." The guard nodded and headed off to make sure everything was alright. At this point Lori was pacing while Riza held May watching her.

"I'm alright. It's just a flesh wound." Al smiled up at her. "He's lost a lot of blood but the bullet went threw and threw so we should be able to fix him up." The doctor lead the way to the hospital. "You'll have to stay out here." he vanished into the surgery room.

Roy approached them. "Are you alright?" He asked worriedly. "Neither of you got hurt, did you?"

Gemini followed the paramedics closely, staying by Al's side right up until they told her she couldn't anymore. After that, she paced in front of the operating room door, waiting for news about him.

Lori shook her head then looked Roy over before crushing him into a hug. "I'm so glad your ok!" she held on tight face buried in his chest.

Eventually the doctor came out. "He's fine. You can go in but don't stay long he needs to sleep."

He hugged her back just as tightly. "I'm glad you're okay, too. I was so scared...we are never bringing May to something like this again."

Gemini thanked the doctor several times before hurrying into the room. Spotting Al in the hospital bed, she broke out into sobs and rushed to his side. "You idiot! You stupid, brave, wonderful boy...what were you thinking? You're not metal anymore, bullets can kill you! I was so terrified...I thought...I thought I'd lose you..."

"Agreed." Lori pulled away enough to look up at him. "Did Gemini kill the guy? If not can I finish the job?"

"I needed to protect Roy. He's the president. Besides its just a flesh wound." Al shrugged then flinched. "Bad idea." he groaned.

Roy shook his head. "Unfortunately, they pulled her away. They wanted him alive for questioning. She did send an unhealthy amount of electricity through his system, though."

"A flesh wound? The bullet went through your body!" Gemini sniffled, trying to stop crying. "I just...I know you wanted to protect him, but he has guards for that purpose. Your life is just as important as his, you know." She took his hand. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't yell. I was just so scared. I don't know what I would have done if...I couldn't live with myself. I love you, Al."

"I know and I'm sorry." Al grimaced. "I just reacted I didn't even really think about it."

"He had better have some answers." Lori growled. ''Either way I'm going to beat him."

Gemini smiled tearfully at him. "That's because you're amazing and loyal and good. It's the reason you're so great as vice president."

"Alright." Roy said. "Just don't get hurt doing it."

Al smiled back. "Whatever the hell they gave me is great." his words where a little slurred. "I feel great." his eyes started to drift shut.

Lori nodded and went back to hugging him. "That was terrifying." she mumbled into his chest.

Gemini smiled gently and kissed his forehead. "Get some rest." She said, before quietly leaving the room. She planned to check on Roy and Lori, then come back with supplies to stay overnight.

"I know." Roy said, not bothering to pretend he wasn't scared. "We should go and see how Al is doing. Oh, Lori...the poor kid. This is all my fault. If I hadn't asked him to be vice president..."

"He's not a kid anymore Roy." Lori reminded him. "He accepted this job knowing the risks. Besides you hadn't asked him, you or someone else would have been shot."

Al was already asleep his mouth open a little.

Roy sighed. "I just...I don't know how I can ever repay him. He saved my life and he could have died doing it. Ed is going to murder me for this." He realized.

"Yeah he is but don't worry I'll throw the shooter in the way." Lori promised kissing his cheek.

"Thanks." Roy said. "How is May? Has she calmed down yet?"
