I go back and forth with the tampons, at work I wear them because it's the sanitary thing to do. At home, well, that's a different story. I've found that cloth is a good way to go for me. Luckily this last period wasn't terrible. Woo hoo! Really hoping that working out has helped calm down the severe pain.
Not sure it would be possible for me to give up the meat. Tastes so wonderful. Don't have an acne issue and it doesn't make me feel lethargic. In fact, this morning when I stopped at the grocery store on my way into work they had beef ribs on sale, got some for dinner either tonight or tomorrow. Yum.

Seriously, I mean I ate tons of meat on top of meat. The weird thing was, I never gained any weight, I stayed underweight no matter what I ate.
But I was very sick all the time. My cramps were horrible during my period, my face and shoulders had so much acne, I had no energy, I never exercised because I had no energy. It was awful.
But when I stopped eating meat I feel better. Of course, now that I am taking medication I've gained weight.
My periods aren't amazing now, but they are less painful. I partially think that has to do with using cloth pads than using the disposable kind because of all those chemicals they usually put in the disposable kinds versus the lack of chemicals in cloth pads.

how often do you have to change a cloth pad?

@salvete
For me, it depends on my flow, but I usually change my pad maybe once every three hours. And that's usually just if my flow is really heavy.
Pretty much the same as for a disposable pad. But I feel that cloth pads are more absorbent so I don't have to change them as frequently as I did the disposable pads.
When I'm not wearing a pad I use a menstrual cup.

oh wow I was thinking that a disposable pad would be more absorbent than a cloth pad but you are saying it is the other way around. What is in a cloth pad that makes it so absorbent?

Yeah I think cloth is always going to be more absorbent than plastic.
They are also more comfortable than the plastic pads.
Cloth pads have absorbent fabrics in them like Zorb and flannel. My pads are mostly made of flannel. Some that are made of minky are really comfy and absorbent too.

I never thought of pads as being plastic before haha but I guess that is true, the bottom is plastic
and cool thank you for letting me know
how many cloth pads do you own? since I assume you have to wash them pretty often while on your period

Speaking of meat, got a great deal on four pounds of beef back ribs, guess what's for dinner tonight? It's cooking the crock pot as I type this.

I definitely love the smell of something cooking in a crock pot!
I haven't used on in a long time, but I might start using them again for lentil dishes.

I was going to make a reply to the ribs talk in which I made a dark n' creepy entrance and hissed that I don't eat ribs, but I decided I've said it enough and everyone knows I'm picky already.
