I was talking with my boyfriend's mom yesterday about that. We all like fried food and we have been trying to cook with coconut oil because its healthier but they raised the prices on it again and neither of us can really afford it.

You can get it for really cheap at the farmer's market. :)

Fruits and vegetables are tasty, thankfully, but if I could live on just sweets, I would.

farmers markets and WiC wit farmers market checks are my live saver for the summer. cause i can eat healthy for a little while xD

I think it's great that there are farmer's markets that accept WIC and food stamps and the like.

My aunt lives really, really close to a farmer's market and she still chooses to get McDonald's or some other unhealthy foods... :(

What? McDerples is really tasty. We all know it's not good for you, but unhealthy food tastes so much better than healthy food most of the time. If you're eating for pleasure rather than nourishing and maintaining your body, McDerples is gonna be the way to go.

It's sad to me, because she acts like she wants to eat healthy, then uses the excuse that it's expensive, but then she lives literally right down the street from a farmer's market, she isn't married, her daughter is an adult... So she could afford to buy healthy things. However, she chooses to take her money and spend it at fancy restaurants and on weekdays she goes to fast food places. :(

Good taste is a powerful factor. No matter how bad for you it is, it sure feels good right then.

I will admit to occasionally eating unhealthy foods. But I do my best to eat healthy when at all possible.

It's alright, even I eat some unhealthy things every now and then. :P

I eat it more then I should.

Because it tastes so good. Noooo shame in that.

It can, but not as often as the food made up mostly of artificial stuff.

Sometimes it's like, "Eh, this tastes okay," and you don't really care for it all that much over other things, and then you end up eating it again for whatever reason, and then again because why not, and you learn to not be able to resist it.

Would seem this place has turned into a health food discussion thread...kind of entertaining actually.

Truly amazing that unhealthy food is so much cheaper than their healthier counter parts. Never understood why that is..?

Isn't it that the artificial/unhealthier ingredients are cheaper and easier to obtain, and they last longer? Or maybe they taste so good that they get enough buyers to lower cost. But I learned that's not how you do pricing in economics.

Honestly, not sure how the whole cost ratio works for healthy versus unhealthy. Might be something worth researching.

I'm picky enough for momma without paying attention to what's in my food.
