I have gastroparesis, so when I eat solid foods they tend to stick around in my tummy for 12+ hours lol
I take marinol for it because they can't treat the motility issue (I've tried ALL the medications available for it in the US including one I had to take a pregnancy test for and sign a document saying I was not trying to get pregnant AND ALSO I had to get it from a special pharmacy). :< They all gave me really bad side effects. So they're just treating the 'nausea' and heartburn I get from it
technically i'm not supposed to eat too many solids but...a friend came over yesterday and made me lunch, and then my boyfriend also got me lunch, and I was sick a few days ago so I was like, OMG FEED ME...and I ate too much. lol
>whoops

Oh, okay. Does gastroparesis mess with your digestive juices and you can't handle too many solids at once?

Eating a lot of sweets doesn't feel good, but, heavens, it feels so good while eating them.

Actually its more of a 'my stomach doesn't manually digest' type thing
some foods can make it worse, but its a manual problem, not a problem with my stomach juices. :)
to explain better perhaps, if you eat something and put your hand over your stomach, a lot of people will feel movement in there, the stomach slowly crushing the food.
my stomach does not do that.
it just produces a ton of acid (that just sticks around, only able to do so much at a time) to try to make up for all the not-crushing my stomach is doing.
lol
oh and my stomach drains REALLY slowly, most people's tummy's are empty around hour 6 or so, mine, the last time it was tested, took 9 and a half hours, but from experience it tends to be better/worse some days

well, it got sick when I was a teenager
and instead of taking me to the doctor my family told me i was 'doing it on purpose'
so instead of getting treatment, i got sicker and sicker until i was vomiting 9+ times a day
and one of my friends put their foot down and said HOLY SHIT you really should see a doctor...I argued with them for a bit, because I was used to really lazy doctors just telling me i had a stomach bug or acid reflux
but i ended up going and eventually got a diagnosis and treatment
my tummy isn't lazy, the nerve that connects it to my brain is damaged so my brain is going YOU SHOULD REALLY MOVE
and my stomach is like WHAT ARE YOU SAYING I CANT UNDERSTAND YOU

There's an evolutionary advantage to eating a lot of yummy food and not trying to burn it off.
---------- Post added 08-04-2017 at 09:31 AM ----------
Oh, it's a nerve issue!

And now I see Monstahh made a post before East said the lazy thing.

Lol, yeah kinda
i've never thought about it that way so i started picturing a little old man in a control room who has to press buttons all day to make tummy do things...but he forgot where the buttons he needs are...except 'produce more acid' lol

Will do my best to chat in here today, but I am at a different office helping out since they needed me on a critical status. Although they aren't really that busy, but whatever.
Tummy problems are the absolute worst. Not having a gall bladder definitely makes for interesting issues that come up from not eating on a regimented schedule. Because the liver is constantly producing bile if no food comes in for over eight hours then the next food consumed goes right through in the most painful way. Very not cool when you are traveling. And as a girl the month visitor and subsequent hormones really fucks with the digestive for me. Ugh. Being a girl is just the pits at times.

I've heard of the bile thing before! I had a teacher once who had a kid with some kind of bile issue and she had to work with changing bags with him.

Amane, that sounds like a colostomy bag and that is something a bit different. Has to do with bypassing the intestines because of severe issues. The bags are what collect the waste excreted by the body. Basically shitting into a bag. Doesn't sound all that pleasant, truth be told.

The bag collected bile. That's all I remember about the issue he was having. He grew out of it.
Nothing about maintaining life is pleasant.

One of my friend's recently had her gall bladder removed
However, she's also lost a lot of weight too because she doesn't feel so much in pain anymore, and can do things again, (and she's also eating better too).
But I think that's a good thing, because she was very unhappy with her body for a while, now she's a lot happier the last few times I've seen her.
So yeah it sucks but if you need it gone its probably better out than in.
speakin of food and eating on time
i am suddenly starving lol
