Its not the day after, it was a week after, and that's when my brother died last year so...my birthday is fun yay, but i'm probably going to end up thinking about how my brother isn't here to spend it with me etc.

Sorry to hear that, Mon. Didn't mean to pry.

My mom's mom passed away two days after my 29th or 30th birthday (don't remember right off which one it was), pretty sure she did it on purpose since she hated me and was always trying to be mean to me.

Sorry to hear that. I'm always so terrible about comforting people, afraid that I will say the wrong thing.

Mon, you aren't a downer. I am just that kind of person that has a very hard time being compassionate and saying the right thing at the same time. I always try to find the humor in things because being sad isn't my favorite emotion. Like when my dad and mom pass away, my older sister and I have decided to do a traditional Irish Wake, basically just be shit faced and remember all the good times with them both.

Wondering if the event will start today...tomorrow... or most likely on Friday. Trying to gauge how much time I have left to get things completed. We are two people down at work today. The receptionist isn't feeling all that great and the Escrow Officer has a migraine, so it's just me and Kristi holding down the fort today.

30 hours is a decent amount of time. Really happy for you and the new job. Quiet is good, I like quiet jobs.

30 hours is pretty good, Eastriel.

I wonder if I will be able to be active in the event this time...?
I have a full week ahead of me next week, I just don't know if I will be able to keep up with the events this time.

Are the hours at least spread out over like 5 days?

I've never experienced anxiety myself, but having had friends with anxiety, all I can say is, one day at a time.

Deep breathes, and when shit gets too heavy, grab a can of whip cream and take a hit from it. Whip cream always makes everything better.

I believe in you, Eastriel. :)

Working many hours can be difficult, I used to get so anxious before a long shift. Nowadays, I just work extremely part time, so I get to pick my own hours and shifts.

Random, but I just got a random call from someone telling me that my license plates are ready??? I don't even have a car! I don't even have a license!

I can definitely understand that.
When I first started working at this job, I told them part time and they were like, okay! I worked 5 days a week, 7 hours every day... That did NOT sound like part time to me. But I did it and it was really, really hard.

Eventually my hours got even more ridiculous, I ended up working 5 days a week for 9 hours each day and I didn't even get a break! Apparently, breaks were reserved for "full time staff". Which was stupid because I felt like a full time staff.

I had to tell my boss that I could only work a few days a week and I could only work 5 hours each day, they respected that and changed my schedule.

But since then my hours have been dwindling.

Love those random phone calls like that. So ridiculous. I keep getting calls for a car I no longer own, asking me if I want to extend the warranty. They keep calling even though I've told them the car is sold and to take me off their list. Ugh.

In the US anything under 32 hours is considered part time. Not sure what it is there where you are, Easty.

Ugh, Ava, you could have taken your business to the Labor Board for unfair work practices. They are required in the US to give you a 20 minute paid break if you work a 5 hour shift, and if you work 8 hours you get a half hour lunch (typically unpaid) and 2, 10 minute breaks throughout your day. And depending on the state, anything over 8 hours counts as overtime and they HAVE to pay you time and half.

I only know this stuff because my mom was human resources for every company she worked for while I was growing up.

Yeah, my mom kept telling me to report them for unfair work practices, but I was new to the job and I didn't want to get fired for complaining to soon. (When, in actuality, I was just scared to report them)

I probably should have reported them anyway, because I know if they did that to me they are probably doing it to many other workers as well. My job has a hard time keeping people there as far as part time staff goes. The full time staff has been there a while, but for part time staff it's really rough.

Ava, they can't fire you for blowing the whistle, there are serious laws against that on the Federal level.

And by not reporting them they will continue to have issues with keeping quality part time staff until someone tells them to shape up or they will ship out. Good businesses are the ones that people have stayed because they like working there. Mostly it's the bosses they work for that keep good people around, a bad boss will drive away their staff. No matter how good the company is.
