We usually buy them from the store as I'm not really a baker, and neither is my husband. I could attempt to make cookies!! :P And see how it goes. It may end up with me getting in the car and driving to the store. ;) HAHA!
So far it's just her being bossy and trying to force her sister to do things that she, Becca, wants Soph to do. Nothing scary yet -- but *knock on wood* hopefully she doesn't. Who knows with her. She's definitely got a stubborn independent streak, that she gets from both Alex and myself.
It's gotten so bad some days that I send Becca into her room on time out, and I stay in the living room with Soph (going to check on Becca, of course, every so often). I'm not huge for time outs but omg... some days it's the only way for me to attempt to keep some form of sanity (like I'm sane to begin with. ).
Alex is a huge help, but he works full time, so during the week it's me and the girls and their fights. Thankfully they don't fight as much when my mum or mother in law takes them for the day or afternoon or whatever the length of time we agreed on was. Gives them time with the grandkiddos, and gives me a break from the craziness that is life with two kids under 5. (We're not even going to bring up the fact I'm dealing with pressure from people to have a massive birthday party -- it's a big one for me this year, the big 30 -- but I don't want a big party. I'm ready to just put my foot down, and say I want a VERY tiny party - family and VERY close friends only... I was never the one who liked parties. That was my twin. He was the party lover of the two of us.)
And I just went all chatty fingers there. Haha!
---------- Post added 02-18-2016 at 12:40 PM ----------
Queenie: I absolutely put my foot down, personally, on that. Becca's first word was Mama, Soph's first word was apple. :P
Soph LOVES apples! With a passion. It's her go-to fruit.

Queeny: YES! That is amazing! XD I'd love that! IT NEEDS TO HAPPEN ONE DAY! it would be AMAZING!
Livi: IKR? Soooo much easier. The only cookies I really know how to make (though still need the book for the recipe) is short bread cookies, and that's still such a pain, oml. I do NOT have the patience to cook things. Fast things like mac n cheese and ramen are easy, but me being a cook? not likely to happen. I don't even like making the burgers in the convection oven because you have to flip them a few times. So kudos to you for have an SO that does the cooking! xD hahah!
Oh man. Yeah, I can understand needing to send her to time outs to keep some semblance of sanity! And I'm sure Soph appreciates it too, haha. xD
Yeah, kids tend to behave when with other family members or babysitters (unless they are just little shits or decide to be ones LOL). So that's good at least for the fam! I bet they enjoy time with the grandparents, so really it's a win win situation sending them there! I know taking care of kids can be a wild and hard roller coaster ride, so.
Jeez, I really hope they don't bother and pester you too much more about that! it IS your birthday, after all. It should be what YOU want, rather than what OTHERS want! It's your day, hun. So stomp your foot and show them who's boss!
Awhhh! those are cute, good first words! better than fuck, for sure. xD
I remember a story my mom told me. One time, she was driving and I was obviously a little babu and in the backseat. Some person was being stupid and I think almost caused a car wreck, and my mom yelled "Shit, shit, shit!" and I began repeating that word, and every time we passed that point in the road I'd say "Shit, shit, shit!". My mother had to tell the daycare that I learned a new word.

Momo: Oh I totally lucked out that he loves to cook! And he's gotten really good at all sorts of things - I'm the only non-meat eater in the family who's also lactose intolerant (thankfully only mildly but still try not to have too many things with lactose). I used to be the one who ate simple fast things and then I met Alex... and things changed. :P Speaking of burgers, he makes these REALLY good beet burgers!! SO GOOD!!! <3
Yeah, I get lots of cuddles before she goes off to do whatever she was doing before her sister started being a bossy older gal.
YES! it is a win/win for everyone! :D It's one full of ups and downs that's for sure but I'd not change anything for the world.
The things that kids pick up on and focus on. One of the phrases that replaced "Oh fuck" for me is "Oh Fudge!" And it slips every so often - there were a few times that I'd let it slip when I dropped something or stubbed my toe, and Becca would always parrot it back - so now she'll pretend to stub her toe, and go "Mumma... Oh fudge!!" Which is now something that Soph has started doing too. *facepalm* Could be worse! :P

Thirty is a big deal, but if you have expressed the desire for a small, personal get together then your family should adhere to your wishes and not keep pushing. For our thirtieth birthday, we met up with four friends in Vegas. It was super special for them since they had never been there as adults. We had a blast that weekend. Can't say much more than that since what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
I suppose there are words better to learn instead of Fuck. Pretty sure my kid(s) will know some colorful words like asshat or twat before they can form complete sentences. Not proud, but should it happen I am just preparing people before hand.
Baking is one of my favorite things to do! Especially from scratch, using my great grandmother's recipes, that German broad could make some good cookies. Peanut butter, sugar cookie, chocolate chip. There are also some bread recipes, haven't tried them yet.
For our epic vibrator fight, I get to be DarthCock Master!

It's rough too because I'm turning 30, yes, but I've not been a huge birthday celebrator since we lost Carlie. Birthdays are a rough time of the year for me. Just a reminder to me that I'm older and he's not here. Vegas isn't an option for us as we have the girls and Soph hates being away from us at night. We're still working on that..
I'd much rather that my kids didn't curse for awhile. But that's just me and what I believe.. When I brought up the cursing jar- it really did help my husband and myself. And now Becca whenever he slips up as I rarely do - she goes "Daddy, swear jar!"
My mum loves to cook (she got it from my Nan). I apparently didn't inherit that love of cooking. I usually burn things.

Oh wow! Sucks to be lactose intolerant, but it's great he can support your diet really well! :D You SOOOO lucked out, hun! xD He sounds like an amazing hubby. :3 I've had veggie burgers, but never a beat burger! What do they taste like? o.o Spicy black bean burgers are delicious though <3
Hey! At least there's cuddles! Sweet precious baby cuddles <3
Yes, exactly! I know motherhood can be hard, but in the end worth it. ^-^
Yeah, they really do. I think fudge is much better than curse words, though! I wouldn't sweat fudge, as long as they don't actually say fuck.

The beet Burgers (heh, I meant beet, not beat. xD) are really Beet/Quoina Veggie burgers.
It's hard to really pin point how to describe them but they're so good!
I found the recipe that he found to make them originally and this is the list that is on the blog post
Quote:
Hearty
Smoky
Flavorful
Tender and moist on the inside
Perfectly crisp on the outside
Not at all mushy
Simple
Savory
And perfect for satisfying killer burger cravings
|
And I totally agree with that list 100%!
I will take all the baby cuddles that the girls are willing to give me! <3 Kid cuddles are the best! Although hubby cuddles are awesome too! ;) Hehe!

Being around my friend's kids, I do tone down the cursing and substitute words. But the swear jar might just help when we have kiddos. Trying to remember if my parents cursed around us when we were younger and if they did, it was seldom, or far and few in between. As we got older, into our teens they relaxed with the swearing and the parties. My parents used to throw some of the best parties.
I was a freshman in high school the first time I got to have a drink at one of the parties. Mom and Dad believed that if you took the mystery/taboo out of alcohol then we would be less likely to sneak off and drink or party at a friend's house. Which is true. Since I seldom drank before my 21st birthday my parents were all right with me calling them if I needed a ride home from a party. I can count on one hand the number of times the parental taxi showed up to get me.
And the pace of work has ground to halt. Got caught up on everything and now I am free to play on here. Yahoo!

My mom lets me have little bits of wine sometimes. :) she lets me try some alcohol, since I am curious. Really, she's REALLY chill about stuff. With my hair and cursing. Like, she has the policy that there are worse things to worry about than cursing. She'd rather me curse than going out and doing drugs, really. Or having unprotected sex. She wouldn't care if I had sex, as long as it was safe and consensual! And if I did get pregnant, she'd NEVER kick me out.
Livi: Yeah, keeping that stuff in mind helps! I'm lucky to not really have allergies to foods and stuffs. @ [email protected] There's only one thing I know of that made me break out when i was little, but nothing too bad. Those burgers REALLY do sound good though! One day i will have to try them! :D
Huehue~ of course! ;D
What curse words have you had so far? o.o
If I had a child, it would NOT surprise me if their first word was a curse word because I ended up slipping

Momo, I live in Arizona, so there is a distance to travel to get to each other. My cousin lives in Georgia, that's much closer to you than me, might have to fly out to see him and then head up a state and half to meet up.
When went camping we were allowed to have a wine cooler with the adults each night.

I'm not far from the south carolina boarder though, so that helps! xD Just my town sucks, so LOL

Oh crumb! You're a minor. *sighs* Yes, a meet up will have to wait until you are of age. Crap, I just though about it, if I had gotten pregnant in my mid teens, I could be your mom. Craaaapp, I am old. *dies*
When drinking vodka, one should be in a good mood. Vodka has a tendency to exacerbate whatever mood you are in when you start drinking. Mean becomes angry and vicious, happy becomes insanely happy and giggly.

My mom is like, 42 almost 43, and she had me when she was 27. She doesn't look that old, though! She looks like she's in her twenties, very early thirties at the most! She's even been mistaken for a high school student
I'll keep that in mind when I do drink it! Not like I'll likely get drunk, anyway. I know I personally feel like I should be able to drink at eighteen. :/

My dad shares the same philosophy for those that serve in the military. He believes that if you can die for your country you should be able to have beer.
I grew out of my awkward phase when I was 22. That was a good summer for me and the year I decided if you don't like me then to bad. Completely refused to change who I was as a person just because someone didn't like me. This of course has led me to only having a few quality friends in my life. My friend Jamie has been my bestie since we were 5, we're 32 now. In fact, kind of excite she and her daughter are coming out here to visit us for a few days this next month.

Mhhhm! Really, if people just taught their children properly and if schools did so as well how to drink safely and to NEVER drive while under the influence, the whole crap about the teen death rate rising might be lowered. But if most states won't even teach proper sex ed classes, then they ain't gonna teach kids how to be safe with alcohol. It's been PROVEN that schools that teach celibacy have a higher teen pregnancy rate because kids are still having sex, just not safe sex. e_e Schools need to get their shit togethah!
Haha, idk if I'm super awkward, just really silly and goofy. :P Adopting that policy however is a good one, because it really does help better friendships. You get people who actually like you and accept you for YOU. OMG though! that's awesome! 8D I hope you guys have fuuun! will it be the first time you're meeting her kid? ^u^

Not sure schools, but parents and adults in general need to teach responsible adulting to teenagers. Have a drink, don't drive. You want to screw, do it with a condom on. There are so many people that wrongly believe if you teach a child about safe sex they will just jump out there and have sex all the time. Wrong. They were going to have sex regardless, teaching them safety about it means now there is less disease and unwanted teen pregnancy.
Her daughter was at our wedding 6 years ago, she was an infant but she was there. We've seen Avary quite a bit over the past six years, it's just the first time they will be coming here to Arizona. Usually we go to California to the cabin and they meet us there. My family has a cabin in the Sierra Nevada mountains that we vacation every year. Sits right next to the American River, it's a gorgeous good time with friends and family.

Ohh okays! 8D so you guys have met her, nice! x3 That is exciting though, that they're coming to you this time! The cabin sounds BEAUTIFUL tho! <3
