I understand that feeling of no monies!
People think all the time that my parents and I have so much money because we buy organic food, we live in a "big" house and we are moving to California... But really, we're literally just scraping by.
I would love to work more hours because I do love my job and I'd like my parents to be able to afford the renovations to the house and still have money left over to buy things they want. As of right now, my dad pays the bills, my mom pays for renovations and all of my paycheck goes towards buying groceries. We've got a nice system set up.
I wish I could work more hours, but my illness makes it incredibly hard to work for too many hours too many days. I've been to the hospital twice last year for almost three weeks a time because of over-stressing myself.
Wouldn't it be nice if somehow money could be worth more or something?

Ava, moving to California is going to be rough and a huge culture shock, I was born in that state. Loved Northern California, Southern California can suck it. Everything is super expensive and they haven't quite pulled out of the drought just yet, so water is tight. Fair warning.
On the upside, depending on where you are moving my husband and I can swing by on our yearly trips and say HI!!!!
Rodd is looking for anything admin, it's what he did in the Navy and as for school, I am pushing for accounting since he is good in math and there will always be a need for accountants. Sometimes wish math wasn't such a chore for me, I'd get into accounting. Hoping he can get himself into ASU with his GI bill from the military, we shall see.

Sal- Figuratively ~
I don't even have a job. That's the problem. And it's not that I'm not looking, because I am. It's just not a lot are hiring and those that are, I'm not "what they're looking for" or at least that's what I get told.

Vanora, keep your chin up, something just right will come along. All those jobs that told you that, well they were right, YOU aren't good fit for THEM. If they passed you up without giving you the chance to prove yourself that's their bad. I've got faith something better is coming for you down the road.

One of the nice things about the job I have now is the 401k that I can contribute to again. Woo Hoo! If the husband gets a job in the near future well that will mean I can put even more away in my 401k. Come on job for Rodd!

Thank you Andi
That means a lot to me.
I had stressed out about it so much I actually had a mini mental breakdown about a week ago.
But something will turn up, hopefully.

Something will come your way. I believe that there's a job out there for everyone and people have their places in the world. It can be rough finding it, but there's definitely a job out there waiting for you.
I'm sending all of my positive vibes your way, Queenie! Here's to Rodd getting a job!

Vanora, I feel you on that. Never been so stressed about finding a job after I got let go from the contracting position I was working. They had just extended my contract and then let me go rather suddenly, still had two weeks and some change on my contract. Watching my friend's son helped relieve the stress a bit.
Lindsay actually help me get the job I have now. An Assistant Escrow Officer position opened up at another office and she recommended me, she told me about it on my birthday. Had a casual interview with my now manager the Saturday after my birthday (not going to lie, I was a little rough from all the drinking the night before) and was hired after the hour and half meeting. This is the job I have been looking for and preparing for the past eight years. Totally see myself with this company until I retire.
Hoping he goes to school before getting a job. Would be fantastic!

Thank you Ava.
There are times I don't feel that way because I didn't finish school and I just don't see many people being interested in a college drop out to be honest. I can't afford to go to school at the moment, so I'm looking for a job to at least help pay some bills at home. I feel bad for my parents. It's not just me, it's my siblings too.
I knew finding a job wouldn't be easy but it gets discouraging after a while.
Thank god for Lindsey! You got a job in something you wanted and nothing beats that.

There are lots of people that didn't finish college, or like me, went to a vocational college. And the job I work has nothing to do with what I went to school for. Go me!
Keep plugging away, no matter how discouraging it gets, because that next one you apply to might just be the one you were waiting for.
Starting tomorrow I am going to the gym everyday except Sundays. It's my way of kicking myself in the ass to get healthier, live healthier and exercise more often.

I can understand that, Vanora... :(
I never went to college, but isn't it funny how a lot of job won't hire you because you, "lack experience" but if you got the job you'd be getting experience?! It's so crazy! I agree with what Queen said, it's their loss if they didn't think you were worth giving a chance.
I know it's totally discouraging, though. I found my job because my mom suggested I try working with kids, and that was the LAST thing I wanted to do. But I went to the interview and got hired and I love my job now.
The best thing you can do is just keep moving forward, keep sending in your resume and I strongly believe that you'll be hired. The only way you won't get hired is if you give up.

That whole experience thing is such bull shit! If and when I am in a position to do the hiring that will be one of the things that won't be on my list of requirements. Yes, you should have some knowledge of the job you are applying for, but asking for five years of experience from a twenty year old person is ridiculous.

I know right?! It's ridiculous!
The experience I had that I hated the most was this one time, my dad used to be a very frequent customer of Godiva chocolate at the mall, and then he was really good friends with the manager, then one day he said, "Hey, my daughter is looking for a job." Then, the manager was all, "Oh, she should apply here! We're looking for people and I'm sure she'd make a great addition to the team!"
Well, I put in my application, went to the interview, thought I NAILED it, then the next thing I know it's been two months and no reply. So I go there with my dad and ask what's up and instead of the manager telling me that I wasn't what he wanted he said he sent my information to another location and that he had no "place to put me" if he hired me there. :|
I just wish he could have been honest and said, "We're not hiring" or "I don't think she's what we're looking for" or something. I mean, it felt like he was pretty much telling my dad what he wanted to hear because he was a good customer and not because he was being honest.

Places that do that can be crushing. Honesty goes a lot further than sugar coating shit. I worked at a Mexican restaurant owned by a bowler's parents and they gave me the hostess job because they knew my dad. Well, I don't speak spanish, the restaurant was in a heavily populated area of spanish speakers and as hostess, well my lack of language knowledge was a barrier. Not to mention that was a rough time in my life, eighteen, not yet out of high school, super scared kid, you get the picture. Didn't have that job for long. Met some awesome people though, Robin Williams, Robert Patrick, Tia from the show Sister, Sister.
Holy cow today has gone from slowish, to HOLY SHIT I CAN'T BREATHE fast.

The whole experience thing really puts me off because how can I gain experience if you don't let me?!! Haha.
I won't give up, I'll keep looking and hopefully something pops up.
I don't even get to do an interview. I feel like the places I apply to don't even look at my resume. It's like they see my name and just reject me. -w-
BUT, I'll keep applying when I'm able to, lol. I hate these waiting periods.
It's painfully slow right now *sigh*

Jobs come in cycles at times. There for awhile after I started this job I was still getting calls and e-mails from recruiters for other jobs. In fact, I got recruited by a different temp company for the job I had left for my current job. Kind of made me laugh.

I got called once. It was a few years ago, I had applied at a CVS, two weeks later they call saying that I lived too far but if I had a friend who lived closer and needed a job to steer them their way. I didn't know being 20mins away was too far.
