I used to love root beer as a kid.
Today, I don't drink any pop because it makes me burp like a man.

That, and it usually burns my throat going down. O_O

Just to let y'all know - I may be not around much in the coming few weeks. We're dealing with a major family crisis that decided to rear it's stupid ugly head in the wee hours of last night, and I need to focus on that. Just know that me, the hubs and the girls are all okay.. but it's something that's totally thrown me off so if I'm not around much, know I'll do my best to get on when I can. But I can't guarantee that it's going to be often.

Livi, let us know if we can help out in anyway and I will get you a set of the EIs (should there be any during the event) so you're covered there.

Hope the family issue clears itself up.

Captains aren't exactly royalty, or much a part of the royal court. We shall think upon a good name for you, Shadami.

Queenie: Thanks.
I'm not sure if there's anything that anyone can really do - just pray for my family. <3

I probably won't be around much for the event. I'm really only here now because I can't turn my brain off and everyone else is asleep - and I felt like I was keeping my hubby up by my tossing and turning so I decided to come on here. I may disappear, depending on what direction things go.

I was raised in a family we weren't allowed to have our elbows on the table, napkins always in the laps... etc. But I'm a bit more of a lax mum, any my parents have gotten a bit more lax in age. So they don't get on my case too much when the girls do things that I wasn't allowed to do.

I never really understood the point of keeping a napkin on the lap. Is it so there's more space on the table? Or perhaps so other people don't see your used napkin and hurl? Please let me know

What my parents told us it's just good etiquette. But it's only put in your lap when the host/hostess puts it in his or her lap - or as I was growing up, when dad would. Which was always when he first sat down. But I've also felt, other than etiquette. it does help to catch those darned little pieces of food that would otherwise land in your lap - but that's not really the reason. xD

Honestly not sure about the napkin on the lap. I would assume it is for visual purposes to keep something soiled off the table. I dunno, best guess.
Elbows on the table was a no no in my house as well growing up, it has to do with posture. No slumping forward. Which I catch myself doing at work quite a bit lately, time to build up that core so I can have better posture.

You don't have to be fancy to be royalty and burping is acceptable, in fact! Burping used to be a sign of respect for the Chef. If you didn't burp it was as sign that you did not enjoy the meal. Crazy right? My older sister the Chef learned that in her culinary school. Now for her, the best compliment she can get is someone picking up their plate when they are done and licking the remaining sauce and bits off the plate.

I usually pull the chair up really close to the table. So my posture is always sitting straight, no need to lean forward, nothing falling on my lap. Maybe that's the key. Just pulling the chair really close to the table

Salvete, that works for some, but for those of us that are bit plushy, getting super close to the table without bending forward doesn't happen often.

Would she be laying on the table over her plate? Or crossing her legs with the plate in front of her?

Sitting on the floor to eat is a picnic.
