Aww well sounds like it was a happy accident in the end, which is all that matters <3
And he gives the best hugs! <3

She was definitely a happy accident and life would be boring without her! :) She's very much loved, but everyone! ^_^

Fuu-Chan, sorry for any confusion ^_^ although you did answer my question! I was just I guess curious why you were doing oil pulling, and whether or not it improved your teeth, and things like that *nods* how long have you been oil pulling?

Don't remind me (it's hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that my baby girl is almost old enough to start school) But yes, Wee One's starting Kindergarten in August. Gah! How is my baby starting Kindergarten?! She's gone and grown up on me!

Aww Livi <3 at least you have sweetpea who still has a ways to go *nods*

Fuu-Chan, how long will you try the oil pulling? I am super curious because I have really mild gingivitis (despite brushing and flossing everyday) and would love to know if oil pulling works. Otherwise, I guess I would just try to start using listerine mouth wash or something

bloodstainedwings, that sounds like a great idea! I love giving my hands something to do while watching videos and television too *nods*

I have really red gums and despite brushing my teeth i always get a cavity. Even though I do not eat as much sugar as I did as a kid. Sugar kind of digusts me. I always turn down chocolate and cookies. Not a big fan lol.

Anyways, Coconut oil/oil pulling is really good.
It makes your teeth stronger which I definitely need. I also have mild gingivitis.
At least they told me it 4 years ago. Not sure if it has changed. I am looking to see if it'll help reduce the redness and swelling of my gums due to my mouth breathing.

I do know it has whitened my teeth more.

Ah yes, the dentist did tell me that mouth breathing can be the reason for the mild gingivitis. I don't normally mouth breathe, but unfortunately my nasal passages are often stuffy or runny, which necessitates the mouth breathing (especially when I am asleep because I cannot consciously control how I am breathing).

I wonder how coconut oil will strengthen and whiten teeth; it seems very interesting. Maybe I will look it up later. Have you ever tried a mouthwash like listerine before?

bloodstainedwings, you're so productive! Are you sewing all of the quilts together by hand and not using a sewing machine?

I use a colgate mouth rinse.
But even that isn't enough.

I mouth breath because well i am not sure why. I always have i guess. they wanted me to get my tonsils removed but i learned i need them as your tonsils help fight off illnesses. So I am not removing them. It's probably due to my bad posture. My aunt said it is. And she said yoga would help.

All you need is a spoon full. and you have to make it mushy in your mouth.
Or you can melt it. But not by microwave. Not sure why but it just says not to.

I agree, bloodstainedwings :) do you do anything for your oral health? Also, how has your week been? :)

Fuu-Chan, I also still have my tonsils :) although I was never recommended to remove them fortunately

I'm wondering where they sell coconut oil now. Does it come in a solid form, since you said it has to be made mushy in our mouth?

You can buy coconut oil at walmart or costco. It comes in a jar, kind of like peanut butter does in a way.
You have to look for if it's organic.

It isn't really solid but not mushy.
So in between. I just munch on it and swish it around.

I was recommended to remove it because My tonsils are enlarged.

and it helps with enlarged tonsils? because mine are enlarged and my doctor said thats normal for when you are fighting an infection like the flu or a cold and to not be concerned.

oral health though? mostly i just brush and mouth wash... i should get back into flosing though. i used to... but i stopped.

plans for the week? mostly just quilting though there should be some video gaming and DnD oh and im going to get my hair trimmed. how about you? or did you aks how my week was... kinda productive actually... got a lot done on those quilts and i finished my cape... im going to wear it tomorrow as long as i get an outfit going with it that works. not sure i can since its a soft yellow... but im gonna try.

Look, I found a research article on oil pulling with coconut oil :)

Effect of coconut oil in plaque related gingivitis - A preliminary report. - PubMed - NCBI

To summarize the paper, they basically took 60 teenagers with plaque-induced gingivitis and had them do oil pulling for 30 days. They assessed the plaque and gingival indices several times throughout that month and observed a statistically significant decrease in both indices. Cool! Granted, this study was published in Nigerian Medical Journal, which isn't the most reputable source, but still interesting.

Oil pulling pulls out the toxins from your teeth when you do it so I would think it would help.

thank you for sharing the information about oil pulling, Fuu-Chan <3 I love learning about new things, including about perhaps non-traditional health / hygiene methods :)

I am a hygiene freak so I've done a ton of research.
Also when doing oil pulling you do not spit it in the sink.
It has to be spit out in the trash.

It's bad for the sinks and stuff.
