FYI a specialist IS a doctor. They're all doctors!

I used Mederma three times on three different occasions and it never worked for my tough scars. I think it works best on new scars. But then on the other hand, I feel like it's a glorified lotion made of onion extract

The only other possibilities I can think of right now are make-up or shooting the scar with a laser at the dermatologist's
Well the only picture I have posted in the face picture thread, You can't tell due to i have other acne haha.
And the quality was shit. It was dark in the room and literally to have good quality pics from laptop cameras you have to turn on every light on. x__x

I checked it out today. And I think my facial wash is actually helping it disappear. I use Clearasil's acne wash. And it reduces red zits and acne scars. I think it's healing my cyst scar. It's not as noticeable.

There are natural ways to get rid of scars.
All you really need to do is look on pinterest or google.
One was slicing cucumber slices and putting it on the scar and wait a few minutes and then throw away the slice.

Yes they are "doctors", but they are more specifically trained. Just like a pharmacist is a doctor, however they can't help you with non drug related things as well. Just like you wont ask your Gynecologist why you have a cough, you're not going to want to talk to a doctor about something like a skin condition.

I'm glad you found something that works fuu ^^

Wait you're in the U.S., right? Because I don't know how the terminology might differ in other countries but I feel like it would be the same or similar.

Anyone with a doctorate degree could be considered a "doctor." Those degrees include things like M.D., Ph.D., Pharm.D. et cetera.

Anyone with an M.D. (or a D.O. for that matter) is a doctor. You have to go through medical school to get those degrees.

The "doctor" you're probably talking about is a primary care doctor, such as family doctor, internist, pediatrician, et cetera. And actually, ob/gyn falls into the primary care category as well.

Any "specialist" such as a dermatologist is also a doctor.

They're all M.D.'s (or D.O's I guess). Does that make sense?

I classify doctor as someone with a doctorate. As they would be Dr. Blahblah
But just because someone has a doctorate doesn't mean they should be addressing serious problems, because they aren't qualified. This is where specialists come in because they are a level higher than a doctor in their specific field.

I guess you could say I classify doctors not by their education but by their knowledge in their specific field of study.

A dermatologist could just as easily fix a skin problem while a general doctor would not have that skillset.

Everyone who goes through medical school has to learn about diseases and treatments related to every specialty, either in lecture or small groups or independent study or research or during clinical rotations with different departments.

It's after medical school that people complete residencies in a specific specialty or in primary care. And the medical school curriculum is such that it prepares all of its students for whatever specialty they decide to pursue.

So, a primary care physician learns about all the skin conditions in medical school too. They can refer you to someone with more specialized expertise, but they're not clueless. A primary care physician is well aware of, at the very least, all of the commonly seen dermatologic conditions in their patient population and how they are treated.

Or at least, they should be. :)

True... we do learn about everything but I'll be honest... I retained nothing that wasn't related to pharmacy.
I mean sure I can tell you what doctor you might need but that's about it...

Well by medical school I was referring to M.D. programs as opposed to other health-related professions. It's rather hard to get into these programs in the first place. It's impossible to remember everything even though they feed you so much. It's like trying to drink from a fire hose. But people succeed and get their M.D. and then hopefully help their patients as much as they can without being judgmental and such

I mostly only have acne scars.
Other scars aren't rough. I have many scars I was accident prone haha.

But the one on my feet i need to get rid of. I scraped my feet a ton when riding scooters.

Me too. I don't really look in the mirror very often. So I never noticed it was disappearing.

Probably not. XD
Your face has tiny holes so it can breathe. Cleaning your face and such unclogs and pours and such. Squeezing black heads that aren't actually black heads will cause a lot more damage than good.

I'm excited for the upcoming event!!! *brings out the orange pompoms*
