"But this is a new territory. There isn't even a royal family here." Cal said. "Who in this place is going to buy a painting?"

"Anyone." Alex rolled his eyes. "Its not just royal who want paintings."

Cal looked at his brother, contemplating. Part of him wanted it to be that easy. Another part was slightly embarrassed to make a living doing something so...unmanly. "Alright, I'll give it a shot. Just a few paintings, see if anyone bites. But I'll do some manual labor on the side. I can't let myself get out of shape."

Alex rolled his eyes with a snort. "Alright mister manly man." he teased. "You could go help Lori build her bakery...though she may take the chance to hit you with a hammer."

Cal blushed. "I'll take that chance." He said, hurrying off to see if he could find Lori.

Lori was helping with the building as much as she could wishing they could go faster.

Cal approached her timidly. "Hey." He said. "I'm, uh...looking for a bit of work. Could you use another builder, maybe?"

Lori frowned at him then nodded. "Alright but I already gave these guys what money I could afford to give them."

Cal shrugged. "That's fine. I just want some busywork to do, I'm not looking for money." He said.

Lori shrugged. "Alright." she handed him a hammer. "Get to work then." she smirked and headed off to check on the other workers. By the time darkness come the place had walls, and the beginning of a second floor.

Cal worked harder than any of the others, even going so far as to skip eating just to make sure he could get as much done as possible.

Lori frowned at him. "You shouldn't not eat." she scowled and held out a freshly made sandwich. "Eat!" she ordered glancing over as Alex walked towards them done for the day.

Cal blinked at the sandwich as if it were something mysterious. "I...huh?" He wasn't used to being told what to do, and skipping meals was normal enough for him, so this was new to say the least. "I mean, okay...thanks...?" He took the sandwich and sniffed at it, afraid it might be poisoned, before taking a bite. It was gone within moments.

Rosemary left the inn after her shift was done and walked down the street to see how progress was going on her sister's building. Spotting everyone, she smiled and waved. "Hi! It's looking really good already." She said.

Alex laughed at his brother. "Don't worry Lori he never eats. I've taken to grounding down the food and slipping it into his drinks." he smirked.

"Well I have plenty more sandwiches." Lori frowned at the brother.

Cal swallowed the last bite of his sandwich. "Wait, you do what?" He asked Alex, eyes wide. "When did you start doing that?"

Rosemary chuckled. "Sounds like you both take care of each other. Just like me and Lori." She said.

"A long time ago. What did you think I hadn't noticed?" Alex smirked a little. "Or are you just annoyed that you didn't notice?"

"I say it might be a little of both." Lori smirked as well.

"I'm more surprised than annoyed." Cal said with a shrug. "I didn't realize you'd noticed. I'm sorry...you were never supposed to have to worry about me."

Rosemary shook her head. "That's really not how it works." She said. "Even if we're younger, we still care, and we're always going to worry about our big siblings. Especially when they don't take care of themselves."

"It's true...Rose does it to me all the time." Lori smirked a little.

"See I'm in my right to worry." Alex grinned at him.

Cal looked around and pouted. "No fair...you're ganging up on me." He said childishly.

Rosemary chuckled. "Lori, did you say you had more sandwiches?" She asked as her stomach growled.

"Don't be childish." Alex rolled his eyes.

Lori thought it was cute that he was being childish but she didn't say so. "Yes I have more sandwiches." she pulled out a basket and handed her one.

Rosemary took the sandwich gratefully. "Thank you!" She sang before digging in.

Cal eyed the sandwiches, but didn't want to ask for another one, so he looked away.

"Eat." Lori handed him another as Alex took one as well. "I made plenty." she popped one into her mouth.

Cal stared at the sandwich in his hand for a second, as if wondering how it got there, then started eating it. He looked away to hide his blush- he wasn't used to being told what to do, but for some reason he didn't mind when it was Lori.

Rosemary smiled a little as she finished her sandwich. "So Lori, are you going to stay at the inn with us? I think there's one room open right next to the one we took. You and I can take that one." She said.

Lori looked longingly at her place wishing there was more roof. "Yeah I guess so. I don't have much money left. I'm hoping they can get my stove in tomorrow so I can start baking."

"I have a little money from working today. I got paid in advance because I was able to start right away. If we both work hard, we'll have enough money to get this place finished up nice and quick." Rosemary said.

"And I'll help out with the work, of you want. You don't need to pay me. I'm going to...try making my own money...painting." He blushed slightly admitting it.
