Taken completely by surprise, Cal stumbled and fell hard on his side. He looked up at Lori, eyes wide and a hurt expression plain in his face. "W-what...listen, I know you don't like me, but I really am trying to make things right here. What did I do this time?" His voice was quiet.

"You exist! That's what!" Lori raged. "Why? Why did you have to come into are lives!? I was happy to give up my old life and never fall for another guy! It's all your fault! I..." she trailed off running a hand threw her hair looking lost then with a growl she seized one of the flour bags and hit him with it of course it broke open just before it made contact so he was covered in flour.

Alex happened to notice them arguing and hurried to find Rose smirking a little. "Well Cal is dead." he made it sound like he was talking about the weather.

Cal flinched, but didn't raise a hand to stop himself from being hit. Even covered in flour, he looked pathetically guilty. "I'm sorry..." His voice was still quiet, eyes downcast, as if he were afraid to look at her.

Rosemary, who was enjoying a rare break at the inn, almost choked on the water she was drinking. "Pardon? Why? What's going on? Please tell me Lori didn't actually kill him."

"It's a fifty fifty all I saw was them argue and she grabbed a flour bag so..." Alex shrugged. "I would have stopped her but honestly you sister scares me."

Loristared at him breathing hard slowly her lips twitched into a smile and she started to giggle. "You look like a ghost." she smirked. "But I still hate you." she pouted. "How did my life turn out like this?"

Rosemary snorted, trying not to laugh. "I mean, she can be pretty scary when she's mad. I wonder what happened. Your brother has been behaving so well recently."

Cal looked up, startled by the giggle. He huffed. "I don't know, but you can't blame it on me entirely. Yeah, I did some bad stuff, but for me it was a job. Just...a way to take care of my brother and me. It was never personal...at least, it wasn't supposed to be. For your information, I never planned on falling for you, either!" He said indignantly.

"No idea." Alex shrugged a little. "Should we go see if he's alive?"

Lori let out a huff of her own. "Well then fall for someone else!" it sounded like an order. "I don't want you." her heart sputtered over the lie.

Rosemary glanced back at the inn's dining room, which was slowly starting to fill back up. "I wish I could, but I really can't leave. How about you go check and get back to me?"

Cal scowled. "I don't want to fall for someone else!" He snapped, then blushed as he realized how that sounded. "I-I mean, it doesn't work that way. If it did, you wouldn't have hit me with a bag of flour."

"No way am I facing your sister alone." Alex shivered.

"It does to work that way." Lori scowled. "And I hit you because your annoying." she pouted. "There are plenty of other girls who would want you so go after them!"

Rosemary laughed. "I don't blame you. Just leave it be until I can get a break, then." She said.

"Annoying? I was helping you!" Cal huffed. "I don't want any other girls!"

"Deal." Alex grinned and went back to work humming.

Lori growled. "Then get a guy!" she snapped.

"I don't like guys! I don't like anyone! Just you!" Cal found himself blushing so brightly that it was visible even through the flour. "Ugh...forget it. I'm done trying to help you." He stood up, wincing, and walked away.

Lori watched him then glared at the workers. "Get back to work!" she snapped glaring at them. They got back to work pretending it didn't happen.

Rosemary spotted Cal storming through the inn as she was working, and made a mental note to talk to her sister later. At least the man was still alive.

Lori wondered in later that day to check on her sister. "Having fun?" she asked grinning at her.

Rosemary raised an eyebrow. She had just finished her shift, and was just hanging up her apron. "Oh, loads." She said. "What about you? I noticed a very pale man stomping through the inn earlier shortly after Alex told me you and Cal had a fight. What happened?"

"Just making sure we had an understanding." Lori shrugged a little. "I don't think he got it even though I nearly hit him with a bag of flour."

"Nearly? Lori, you hit him. I could tell just by the fact that he was covered in flour." Rosemary said, not taking any bullshit. "What did you fight about? And don't lie to me, I can tell when you're lying."

"I almost hit him. It broke open at the last second." Lori paused and then set her mouth into a line. "We talked about nunyah." she quipped. "and business." she didn't feel like revealing her feelings to her sister out in the open.

Rosemary rolled her eyes. "Okay, fine, don't tell me." She sighed. "Just do me a favor and don't kill him, okay? I like Alex a lot, and Alex loves his brother, so the brother has to live."

"Fine I'll keep him alive but that leaves maim wide open." Lori grinned clearly not joking at all. "I'm starving. Lets grab a snack before getting to bed.'

"No you can't maim him either!" Rosemary said exasperatedly. "You can't damage him, physically or mentally, in any long lasting way. Only if it's something that can be healed within a few days...and you can embarrass him as much as you want."

"Kill joy." Lori pouted playfully. "So I can do anything that heals in a few days?" she smirked dsrkly. "Perfect."

Alex headed towards them. "Hello lady." He bowed. "I have good news Rose." he took her hand.

Rosemary rolled her eyes. "I swear you're just a villain in disguise." She said. Hearing Alex, she turned towards him, smiling. "Oh? What news do you bring, good sir?"

"The old lady I have been helping is going to give us her horse!" Alex grinned. "She said she was getting to old to care for her and as a bonus the horse is going to give birth soon! We can keep housing her at the ladies house until we have a barn of our own."

Rosemary's entire face lit up in a smile. "That's great! A mare to breed is the first step, and if she's already going to have a foal soon, then we're on our way! We'll have to make sure we're ready for it, though. We'll need supplies like blankets and extra water for the foal."
