I personally wish we could do something about the blogs, at one time I tried blogging around here, waaay back when, gosh probably when they first came out. I always had trouble finding my blogs again >.>

There are a few features we have that I'm sure users don't even know about that sort of fall into that same sort of category. Like Groups. I seriously wonder if anyone remembers the groups exist. But that all falls in Dev land. I can attest to item creation, or even events or modding duties, but Dev land is out of my hands lulz.

Groups were never my thing. And I know what happened to your blogs. They're handcuffed to a radiator in an abandoned building on Staten Island.

As Cora said, we did a considerable overhaul of the forums last year, right around the time that you joined, Mr. Wrong. So forum rearrangement is something that we have done, and are definitely willing to do again. It's just something we have to discuss carefully first. (For example, we have to consider whether consolidating two forums will improve or hinder our moderating work, as some areas get a lot of traffic.) Event planning is eating a lot of our time right now, but I promise that I at least won't forget about this. (I loved working on our reorganization last year, omg.)

I've also been thinking about the blogs lately and wondering what we could do to make them more functional and appealing. As mentioned, coding stuff is beyond us at the moment, but there might be other things we could do in the meantime.

As for profiles, I think the layout and customization options that we have came with our forum software, so I'm not sure how much we can change, but I'm interested to know what features you wish they could have. That would be a great topic for Site Feedback thread, actually, if you felt like making such a thing.

A lot of the time when it seem like the staff are absent, it's actually because we're holed up in the staff room brainstorming and discussing things to improve the site. There are a ton of things on our to-do list, and when we're not working on events, we're chipping away at that. As mentioned in the Suggestions thread, we're all volunteers, so unfortunately projects often take longer than we would like, and believe me, no is more frustrated about that than we are.

It's time for an overhaul!

This was my favorite line from the movie 'The Mask' starring Jim Carrey.
And it's what I'd like to do with the blogs and profiles on this site.

There is probably some deep-seated reason why the coding prevents this, but it would be nice to see.

There would have to be a 'blogs' forum and clicking on it would take you to a central location wherein all blogs by every user would be visible. You would then click on the blog title to view and comment on that particular blog. Viewing the blog would also enable its viewer to see the blog authors' profile and a list of that bloggers' previous blogs.

I wish I could produce a visual for you, but I don't know of any. I'm only going off of what I remember from my Mobion days. I'll see if I can hunt something down and I'll get back with you.

I wasn't able to find anything useful. But, if you care to look at Mobion or Mobamingle via Bookface, you can see a lot of the avatars that were used there. Who knows, you might even find new inspiration.

I think the biggest problem with the blogs was that there was really no gold benefit, because it would cost so much. Didn't we make a blog forum at some point? I've never since been able to find that, it was a great idea, allowed gold earning, and was good for people to have a place to "blog".

Another thing to spur interest, would be to make the Wiki public. I've waited so long for that, though I haven't a clue if it's finished, abandoned or what.

The wiki is a project near and dear to my heart. We were working on it for a while last year, but it had to get put aside for event work, and then we never got around to picking it up again. (Also yan hasn't been around, and he's the one who can make it all work.) So, not forgotten, but not on the front burners.

I'm planning on taking a web development class this fall though, so maybe then I'll be able to help with code stuff.

The Wandering Poet is correct. Posting a blog earns no gold here. That would obviously need to change.

Did I mention that it's time for an overhaul?

I am in code development presently, but Inso is very careful with who he lets come near the code. Unlike with art or pixels or other aspects of the site, coding is delicate. You introduce a comma in the wrong place and the whole site goes KABOOM!

I think the memory jars could be considered almost a blogging forum, if people chose to use them in that way.

Aren't wiki's usually user modified?
I think you'd just need to have a safety feature to make sure new users can't break it or something. Though yeah that would probably need code =/

Would making more games for the site be possible/helpful? I know we have some widely-available Flash games linked up to Menewsha gold system, and I make games. I could probably whip up a few in some web app. Might be good practice, at any rate. Is there an API available or something, or is that more backend stuff?

There might be a small security risk in that regard, but having games that don't give gold might be fun to try. I dunno. Curious to see the response.

It would be cool to see what Pkero comes up with. Pkero do you have any games you've already made that you can show us

Working on my solo thing right now; everything I've worked on is on my website. Roots of Sarkos is the most recent one.
