Gemini listened carefully. "It has to be. The cameras are flashing fast enough to read by." She said with a smirk. As if to prove her point, Bruce Wayne walked through the doors at that moment.

Bruce had actually come alone for once. For some reason, he just didn't want to do the playboy act that night. As he walked in the doors, he found himself scanning the crowd. He couldn't figure out why until he found who he was looking for. Lori. He smiled at her.

Lori's heart skipped a beat but smiled back blushing a little. "He's alone!" she turned to Gemini. "How's my hair?" she asked as the music started.

Gemini chuckled. "Your hair is perfect. Go get him." She encouraged.

Lori nodded and walked towards Bruce growling when a few girls tried to talk to him. "Easy." she took a breath and pushed her way forward. "Fancy seeing you here Bruce." she grimaced on the inside.

Bruce turned away from some woman who was shamelessly flirting with him when he heard Lori's voice. He faced her and smiled. "It's a rather nice surprise to see you here, as well, miss Archer." He said, taking her hand and gently kissing the back of it.

Lori blushed softly. "Well after the day I've had I wanted to dress up and feel like a princess for a night." she sighed softly. "Do you want to dance?" she said it without thinking.

"Well if it makes you feel any better, you do look like a princess." Bruce's smile widened. "You read my mind. Shall we?" He bowed slightly and held out his hand for her to take.

Lori blushed and took his hand leading him out to the dance floor glad that Diane had taught her to slow dance. "I may step on your feet." she warned.

Bruce chuckled slightly. "That's alright, I'm wearing tough shoes. Just don't be surprised if I step on your feet." He warned.

Gemini watched with a smile, glad that things were going well for Lori. Once they started dancing, she moved off to do some flirting.

Lori grinned and started to dance with him. Her heart was beating the crazy the whole time and she found she was lost for words. Of course When Joker crashed the party she had a few choice words.

Joker laughed as the socialites scrambled away in fear. "Come now I thought everyone was welcome to these parties."

Bruce had a few words to say as well, but refrained from saying them in mixed company. He turned to Lori. "I'm afraid I have to take care of something." He knew she knew what he meant. Before he had the chance to disappear, however, fire started flying. "Oh no, that's not good." He said as he spotted Gemini attacking Joker. "You get her out of there before she gets herself killed. I'll take care of him."

Gemini was in the middle of flirting with a successful businessman- and doing a damn good job of it, too- when Joker showed up. Her flirting buddy ran away, leaving her absolutely livid. Instead of running away like everyone else, Gemini started towards him. Breaking through the crowd, she threw a fireball at him. "ONE NIGHT! I TRY TO HAVE ONE SINGLE NIGHT TO PRETEND TO BE NORMAL, AND YOU HAVE TO RUIN IT! YOU RUIN EVERYTHING! WHY CAN'T YOU JUST GO AWAY?! GET OUT!! GET OUT!! JUST LEAVE US THE HELL ALONE!!"

"How was I suppose to know you where here?" Joker snapped back managing to barely avoid the fireball. "I don't revolve around you!" he glared.

"Nah I'll let her kill him." Lori smirked. "Besides this could be good for them." she chuckled half hating that she was trying to play match maker.

"No, that's just it! You revolve around everyone I associate with! I had one friend in this world, and you started dating her! I start hanging out with a new group of people over in Metropolis, and you show up to wreak havoc there! I find a new friend and you make an enemy out of her! I come to a single freaking party to flirt and maybe forget you, and you SHOW UP!! You couldn't take just one night off?! You couldn't let ONE SINGLE OPPORTUNITY GO BY!! Hell, you're probably the one who burned down Harley's apartment building! Do you ever quit? Hey, here's an idea! Maybe you DON'T have to ruin every single social gathering in the city! What, are you just jealous that you weren't invited? Maybe you'd be invited if you didn't DESTROY EVERYTHING YOU TOUCH!!" As she ranted, more fireballs flew, and now she wasn't even aiming. She was just emanating fire with pure frustration. "WHY. CAN'T. I. GET. YOU. OUT. OF. MY. HEAD?!" Each word was punctuated with a strike lightening outside.

Bruce looked slightly frightened. "Why is this a good thing? She's going to kill everyone at this rate!"

"We'll be fine." Lori's powers where keeping them safe. "You'll see."

Joker blinked a couple times. "I came because I enjoy mayhem. I don't know why you can't but you should stop thinking about me. You'll end up like Harley." he looked sad. "I'll take what I came for and go." he snagged the bowl of donation money. He didn't want anyone he ever thought about to wind up like Harley.

Gemini's face turned redder than her hair when she realized she'd said that out loud. "I-I didn't mean...that came out wrong! I don't think about you. At all. Ever." The fire started to die down a bit and she looked around. "Oh, dammit! Now I'm gonna have to move again..." She said when she saw the wreckage. "Oh...hey, wait!" She tackled him and took the money back. "That's not yours."

Bruce watched with a stunned expression. "Lori...I have a lot of questions to ask." He said quietly.

"Guys got to live." Joker said calmly and help his hand out. "I could just go steal from somewhere else." he smirked. "Actually thats an excellent idea." he chuckled glad he could slip back into his usual self and keep her from seeing the real him.

"I may or may not tell you the answer." Lori chuckled and glanced at the mess clicking her tongue. "It's actually not that bad."

"Or you could shape up and get a real job." Gemini snapped, also glad to slip back into the familiar guise of hating him.

Bruce shook his head. "It can be fixed easily enough." He said. "But seriously, what is going on with those two?" He asked.

"Like anyone would hire me." Joker snorted. "Besides this is way more fun."

"I'll never tell." Lori smirked. "She would stab me if I did."

Annoyed, Gemini hurled another fireball at him. But it was small and weak, and fizzled out long before it got to him- damn magic reflecting her feelings. "Just get the hell out of here."

"You know I'm going to find out eventually anyway, right?" Bruce said. There was almost nothing he couldn't find out if he really wanted to.

"Fine." Joker shrugged and left surprising himself by doing what she said.

"Thats fine so long as it doesn't get me killed." Lori shrugged.

Gemini was just as surprised, if not more so, that he actually left. Huffing in frustration, she turned and made her way over to Lori and Bruce. "Uh...I apologize for the smoke damage." She said. "If it's any consolation, I could have done a whole lot worse."

"Okay then." Bruce replied, just before Gemini came over. "Oh, uh...that's okay." He said, not sure whether her "consolation" made him feel better or worse.

Lori nodded. "And you can still live with me since everyone already knows what I can do." she smirked. She glanced at Bruce "besides he can sweep this under a rug." she noticed how close they where standing and guickly looked away.

Bruce nodded. "Yeah, this isn't a problem." He said, partially distracted by Lori. "Uh- we should all probably head home, though. It would raise questions if the police found us hanging around here."

Gemini smiled. "Thanks." She said, her voice trying to break. She was just barely holding it together.

"Come on you. Your a mess and all that hard work I did on your hair too." Lori sighed and pulled Gemini away. "I'll see you soon Bruce." she headed out waiting for the valet to get her car.

Joker found a quiet place to think and frowned staring at his hands. "What is wrong with me?"

"Right...see you soon." Bruce said. He left the scene quickly as he heard sirens approaching.

Once they were in the car, Gemini buried her face in her hands. "What is wrong with me?" She moaned.
