"I wondered when you'd be back," Genkai said in lieu of greeting when she saw the two. "Looks like you were successful, too."

Peggy emerged from another room where she'd been training and grinned. "You're back! About damn time." She headed over to give Winter a hug.

Winter grinned when she saw Peggy and returned the hug.

"We weren't gone that long," she protested. "Not too terribly long, at least."

"Long enough. More than a month." Peggy shrugged. "Long enough that I can now actually hit stuff with arrows, not just the broad side of a barn."

"Getting there, definitely." Peggy grinned. "I've got my own bow, which is gorgeous and hella awesome."

"Kurama brought it for me." Peggy shrugged, though she was grinning and a bit pink. "From one of his stashes, he said."

"Oh really?" Winter asked, smirking. "That seems unusually generous." She could see Peggy turning pink, and had a pretty good idea of what was going on.

"Something like that." Peggy shrugged and changed the topic. "Tea? Bath? You've been gone for a while, I'm betting you want some creature comforts."

"Oh my god yes," Winter said nodding. "Tea and a bath sound wonderful." She noticed the topic change, but let it go. Creature comforts sounded amazing.

"We can manage that. Come on." Peggy grinned and headed for the kitchen. "I'll get tea started, you go start the bath running."

Winter nodded and headed inside with her, intent on a hot bath.

A week or so later, Peggy stretched, gathering up her bow. She didn't foresee any need for it, but she didn't really want to leave it laying around, either.

"You just about ready?" she asked Winter.

Winter nodded, making sure she had her things.

"Yeah, I think so," she said. She glanced around. "I kind of hate to leave, but I still kind of want to go home."

"Yeah. It'll be good to get home for a bit." Peggy paused for a moment. "Not too long, though." She grinned.

"Not too long," Winter agreed. She reached out, feeling the fabric of spacetime. "Ready?"

"When you are." Peggy grinned, bouncing a bit on the balls of her feet. Now that she had an idea what they were doing, this was kind of fun.

Winter nodded and opened the portal.

"Go, hurry," she said, planting her feet to keep the portal from slamming closed.

Peggy hopped through the portal easily enough. What she was not expecting was to drop a few feet from the portal into the middle of a table, which was surrounded by no fewer than a dozen people. Peggy squeaked in understandable alarm when several of those people gaped.

Winter followed her through the portal and it slammed closed behind them. She yelped when she dropped a few feet onto a table, just barely missing landing on Peggy. She didn't have any time to grumble about the landing, because she quickly noticed that they weren't alone, and that she and Peg had landed in the middle of some sort of meeting.

"What did I do," she murmured under her breath, glancing around warily.

"I don't think this is home," Peggy breathed, looking at some of the people around them. Many of them had ears that came to points, and odd-colored hair, and some had markings.

"What is the meaning of this?" one of the people demanded, orange eyes narrowed in displeasure as she looked at the two humans who'd fallen from nowhere onto the table.

Spending so much time at Genkai's temple, and then in the Makai, had helped Winter hone what little spiritual sensitivity she had, and she could feel the energy radiating off of everyone in the room. This was definitely not home, and she had definitely screwed up.

"Well, this was certainly not our doing," another one said. He tilted his head, a bit birdlike, as he examined the two, dark eyes glittering. "They look like humans." He raised an eyebrow. "And who among us is known for their... taste in humans?"

"Oh please," a third snorted, golden eyes flashing with a barely-restrained challenge and white dog-ears flicking a bit in annoyance. "Is that really the best jab you can take at us? It obviously wasn't anyone here."

Winter's breath caught in her throat at the third speaker. She knew that voice, and she knew Peggy did too.

Peggy looked at Winter for a few moments, eyes wide. Shit. Not again.

"Then where do you propose they came from?" The orsnge-ryed female asked in a silky purr. "Your clan did arrange the meeting."

"Enough." That speaker also had gold eyes and long silver hair.

"I'm thinking we should get off the table," Peggy muttered. "That way." She nudged Winter over towards the two silver haired ones, who were fortunately sitting side by side.

"Good plan," Winter agreed, trying to carefully get off the table without anyone trying to kill them. The two Peggy had indicated were definitely the safest ones in the room.

Sesshomaru raised an eyebrow when the two humans scooted over towards him and Inuyasha, but he obligingly stood and moved out of the way. One raised hand was enough to quell the rest of the demons and keep them quiet. For now. But more than one set of unfriendly eyes narrowed at the humans.

Peggy let Winter go first, eyeing everyone and gripping her bow, and followed as soon as Winter was safely off the table.
