As soon as Winter had her feet on the floor, she moved aside so Peggy could get down.

The other leaders watched.

"Are we really to believe your clan had nothing to do with this?" one of the others asked. "Look. They immediately turn to you and yours."

"Perhaps because we are not making implied threats," Sesshomaru murmured with a quelling glance.

Peggy got down as well and promptly took a big step away from the table, eyeing them all warily. They were definitely screwed.

"If you tell the truth and they are not here because of you... where did they come from?" One of the others asked, frowning a bit.

"That would be the question, now wouldn't it?" the orange-eyed woman asked, looking over the two humans with a faint look of disgust.

Winter just stayed silent, hardly daring to breathe. She didn't want to do anything to set anyone off until she was sure nobody would try to kill them.

Sesshomaru considered for a few moments, tapping his claws against the table. "We will adjourn briefly," he told the group. "I will find out why they are here." He turned his gaze to the two girls. Peggy stiffened at that.

The orange-eyed woman narrowed her eyes a bit, but nodded. The birdlike man also nodded, and soon the others followed suit.

Winter went still as well when he turned to look at them, her heart pounding from the stress.

"This way." Sesshomaru looked at them both before he glanced at Inuyasha as well. Then he turned and left the room, leading the way down a corridor.

"This is not what I expected," Peggy murmured to Winter, following after Sesshomaru without fuss.

Inuyasha followed, making sure the other clans didn't try anything as they were leaving the room.

"I don't know what I'm expecting anymore," Winter replied just as quietly. "I don't know what happened."

"We'll figure it out. It'll be fine." Peggy rubbed her back briefly.

Sesshomaru ushered them and Inuyasha into a small side room, giving the two a few moments to settle. "Do you know where you are?" he asked them.

“Um,” Winter said, “not specifically.” She knew where they were in general, and she knew Peggy did too, but she had no idea where exactly they had ended up.

"And how did you come to be here if you do not know where here is?" Sesshomaru asked smoothly, folding his arms neatly.

Winter hesitated. She had no idea what sort of reaction they were likely to get, and glanced at Peggy.

“It’s... complicated,” she finally said, looking back at him.

"Complicated." Sesshomaru raised one eyebrow.

"She's a teleporter," Peggy said, because she was pretty sure that honesty was the fastest course with these two. "Still in training." She shot Winter an apologetic glance.

"A teleporter? Truly?" Both of his eyebrows went up at that.

“That’s a thing?” Inuyasha muttered behind them.

“I don’t know what happened,” Winter said. “I was trying to get us home, and I was sure I had it, and then... that.”

"It is a very rare ability," Sesshomaru murmured, eyeing Winter with curiosity. "So you are here by accident."

“Yes,” Winter said. “We genuinely don’t know where we are, or what’s going on here.”

"Hmm." Sesshomaru was quiet for a moment before he nodded. He could smell the truth on her, after all. "Now the question becomes what to do with you."

Inuyasha had been considering that question the whole time, studying the two human girls.

“I think I know where we can put them for now,” he said, glancing at his brother. “At least until the clan summit is over.” He smirked a bit. “I’m sure Kagome won’t mind.”

Sesshomaru considered for a moment before he nodded. "I believe you're right," he agreed. "Call her. I will keep an eye on these two."

Peggy looked at Winter, wanting desperately to talk about this but knowing they'd be overheard in present company.

Inuyasha nodded and stepped out of the room, pulling out his phone to call Kagome.

Winter bit her lip, returning Peggy’s look. She desperately wanted to talk about it too, but she knew they were going to be overheard if they tried.

Sesshomaru eyed them both for a few moments. They appeared normal, but something was off about them both, beyond the one teleporter.

"Do you know what I am?" He asked them quietly. They weren't freaking out enough about demons, so perhaps...

Winter hesitated again, glanced at Peggy, and then looked back at him and nodded.

“Yes,” she said. “We do.”

"Curious." Sesshomaru flexed his hands, looking at them both. "There are not many humans left who know. Even fewer who could get past my barriers into this place."

“I honestly don’t know how that happened,” Winter said, her eyes going to his hands, and more importantly, his claws.

"No ideas? This has never happened before?" Sesshomaru noticed where attention was, but didn't redirect her. Although he wouldn't actually hurt her unless he had a good reason to, a little intimidation rarely went amiss.

“It has,” Winter admitted. “And I don’t know what happened then, either. I thought I had the hang of it this time, but apparently not.” She looked away from his claws, but couldn’t meet his eyes for very long.
