Sesshomaru rumbled quietly. "It is your territory as much as it is hers," he reasoned. Really, he liked the kit, so he generally went easy on him. Most of the time.

The cat had been a bad influence over the years.

"Sure, I guess," Shippo said after a moment. He shrugged. "Not like I can tell you what to do." He grinned at the girls. "I'll finish that story later. Don't let me forget!" Then he scampered off to make sure guest rooms were prepared, since he knew Kagome would ask him to do it anyways.

Peggy watched him go and then looked back at Sesshomaru.

For his part, Sesshomaru was pleased with the kit. "You seem comfortable here," he murmured, vague enough to give them an opening to talk more. After all, this wasn't an interrogation. He was merely curious.

"It's nice here," Winter ventured, glancing at Peggy and then back at Sesshomaru.

"How different is this from home, for you?" Sesshomaru asked after a momentary pause.

Peggy coughed suspiciously and took a little step back, letting Winter handle the taiyoukai.

Winter noticed Peggy step away, the traitor. But then her attention was taken up by Sesshomaru.

"This place is sort of familiar," she admitted to him. "Unexpectedly comfortable. Although, home doesn't have any demons at all. Just humans."

"None at all?" Both eyebrows lifted at that. "Hmm. Did we never exist, I wonder?"

"I have no idea," Winter replied. "Not to my knowledge, at least."

Sesshomaru nodded, accepting that. "And yet you are so comfortable with us. Moreso than most who do know of us." His gaze was assessing.

"That's more a result of the other time I screwed up my landing," Winter admitted. "The other world we ended up in is similar to this one, so we kind of got used to it there."

Sesshomaru nodded at that. "So this is your third place," he surmised, watching her. "How long will you stay?"

"I don't know," Winter replied. "It's not as if I have a solid time frame for when I'll be able to get us home again."

"When you'll be able to?" One brow quirked at her choice of phrasing, inviting her to explain.

"It's... complicated," Winter replied. "I don't exactly know what I'm doing, so I'm kind of learning as I go what works and what doesn't." Which was true, and allowed her to answer without admitting that she still got dizzy trying to go further than across the courtyard.

Sesshomaru nodded. "You have had no instruction?" He was fairly certain he remembered that, but he wanted to be sure.

"There's nobody to teach me," Winter replied. "Not that I know of, at least."

Sesshomaru nodded. "And yet you've done this much on your own," he murmured, his tone implying that he was impressed even though he didn't actually say so. He eyed her appraisingly.

Winter turned a bit pink at his tone, and at the look he was giving her.

"Better to figure out what I can do than to let it get out of control," she pointed out, glancing away and trying to get her face back under control.

"Indeed." Sesshomaru smirked faintly. Ah, humans. At least this one was interesting. "And what are your plans now? Do you intend to continue training?"

"That's the plan," Winter said, still trying to get her blush to fade. "Forseeably, anyways."

That made sense to him, it was a sound strategy. His plan to stick around solidified, if only to see her powers at work for himself.

Winter stood there a bit awkwardly, now that the conversation had lapsed into silence. She wasn't sure what else to say that wouldn't dig her into a hole she couldn't easily get back out of again, but she didn't want to just walk away, either.

Sesshomaru sifted through her scent cautiously. There was an underlying note of brightness, not as noticeable as Kagome's, but there none the less. "You are anxious," he determined after a moment, frowning at her.

"Yeah, a bit," Winter admitted. She glanced up at him. "Does that surprise you? I mean, wouldn't you be, in my place?"

Sesshomaru snorted quietly at that. "I do not get anxious," he told her loftily. "When facing the unknown, I observe and plan."
