Hyacinth closed the door again once he left and settled back in to keep working on the blanket. She was sure he wouldn't be gone long.

Indeed, Bilbo returned no more than ten minutes later with a tray filled with a pot of tea, cups, scones, and biscuits. Because clearly food was needed with tea, too.

Hyacinth only opened the door as wide as needed to take the tray.

"Thank you, Uncle," she said. "I'll make sure Lottie gets some of this into her when she wakes up."

"Good. Let me know if you need anything else." Bilbo looked frustrated for a moment before he sighed. "And take care of yourself, too."

"I should be saying that to you," Hyacinth said with a bit of a grin. "I'll be fine."

Bilbo chuckled quietly. "Very well," he agreed. "Call for one of the dwarves if you need anything." He quirked a grin. "Pretty sure they'd all come running now."

"I'm sure," Hyacinth said. She grinned a bit. "Have you told them yet? Or still just your betrothed so far?"

"Still just Thorin," Bilbo admitted. "I'm still trying to figure out how to actually tell the rest."

"Better figure it out soon," Hyacinth teased. "Before they figure it out on their own."

Bilbo huffed. "They're dwarves," he pointed out dryly. "They can be incredibly dense sometimes. Besides, I'm not entirely sure if they have the equivalent here or not."

"Still, I'm sure they're perceptive enough to notice something amiss," Hyacinth said. She waved a hand. "You go on and relax, Uncle, I'll look after Lottie and make sure she gets some tea and scones into her."

"Good," Bilbo said with a nod. "I'll check on you both again tomorrow." He turned and headed back towards his rooms, content for now.

Hyacinth nodded and settled back in.

She was a little surprised when Fili and Kili came back to visit regularly over the next few days as Amaryllis recovered. She would have thought that the princes had better things to do than hang around with them.

Kili spent quite a bit of time with Hyacinth watching her crochet. On the second day, he even mustered up enough courage to ask her, "Can you teach me that? It's kind of fascinating." He was watching the needle flash in and out of her work.

The request surprised Hyacinth, and she paused her work.

"Sure, I suppose," she said. "But... I only have the one hook, I only brought one with me. I would have to check the market and see if they have any for sale."

"I can do it," Kili said quickly. "Well, once they reopen the market, anyway." He bounced on the balls of his feet a little.

"Alright," Hyacinth said, smiling a bit. She slipped a finger into her work to mark her stitch and slipped the hook out to show him. "This is the gauge I would recommend starting on."

Kili blinked and compared it to his finger, studying it from different angles for a minute before he nodded. "Okay," he agreed. "Wait, there are different sizes too?"

Hyacinth couldn't help but smile at that.

"Several," she said. "To make different things with different weights of yarn and thread."

"Huh." Kili grinned. "That's pretty neat. Once we can get you some other ones and some more yarn you'll have to show me more."

"Of course," Hyacinth said, smiling. "It's not difficult to learn, I'm sure you'll pick it up quickly."

Kili beamed, bouncing a little. "Once they open the market again, hopefully it won't be much longer."

"Hopefully," Hyacinth agreed, slipping the hook back into the right stitch and picking up where she left off.

Elsewhere, Fili was checking on Amaryllis.

"How are you feeling?" he murmured, bringing a bowl of broth over to her.

Kili settled across from her to watch her stitch, still trying to figure out how it worked.

Amaryllis sat up carefully, wincing. "Been better," she murmured. "I hate this." She fumbled with a pillow to settle it behind her so she could sit mostly upright.

"I can imagine," Fili replied, helping her sit up. "Here. Drink." He held the bowl of broth out to her."
