"It's not like I was ever trained on how to fight with a giant dinner plate," Summer retorted, crossing her arms.

Steve watched her for a few long moments before he nodded decisively. "Well, if you're going to keep using it, you better know how to use it, at least. Guess I'll have to show you."

"What." Summer blinked. "You-- what?" He wanted to teach her? Since when was she ever that lucky?

"Not like you're gonna find another teacher," Steve told her with a shrug. "Trust me, it'll be easier for me to teach you than you to spend the time. Took me a while to figure it out."

"I mean, you also throw it like a frisbee," Summer pointed out. "But okay, sure. We can try. Can't hurt anything, except some heartless."

"Depends on how you aim," Steve said with a faint grin. "And how much of a challenge Clint is up to." Because this could be interesting.

Summer couldn't help but grin a bit. Yeah, she could be on board with that.

"Okay," she said. She gestured in the vague direction of the elevator. "I've got nothing better to do right now, unless you do."

Steve shook his head. "Right now I have to admit I'm curious," he said, walking over to the elevator and pressing a button for the Avengers private gym.

The elevator was coming up already, and the doors opened to reveal Bucky. He had been down in the gym, and had decided that, since Steve had been up there for a while and hadn't started any fights, the two newcomers were probably alright. His hair was pulled back, and the metal arm gleamed in the light.

"Hey Buck," Steve greeted, moving aside to let him pass. "We're heading up to the gym, if you need me for anything." He glanced at the other girl and back to Bucky, clearly meaning in case he needed a place to hide or a reason to escape.

Bucky considered it, and then shook his head.

"Doin' good today," he said. He smirked. "Go have fun with your dame."

Steve shot him an exasperated look but ushered Summer into the elevator.

Rose was eyeing him while his back was turned, because hoo boy. This day couldn't get much better.

Bucky turned around and saw her standing there. He studied her for a moment, going over some information quickly in his head.

"Guessin' you're not the one who uses a shield," he said. "Which makes you the one with the rifle."

"Yeah," Rose agreed after a moment. "I mean, it looks like a rifle, at least." She kind of shrugged helplessly.

"You any good at shooting it?" Bucky asked, curious.

"Not even a little." Rose's smile was wry. "Most I've ever shot was my dad's BB gun, and that was a long time ago."

Bucky considered that. He weighed his pros and cons for a moment, and then tilted his head towards the elevator.

"Shooting range down in the basement," he said. "I'm not a bad shot."

Rose's mouth opened. And then shut again.

"What?" she squeaked, because there was no way this was actually happening.

Bucky shrugged a bit.

"Don't have to if you don't want to," he said. "But if you want to learn to shoot, I can probably at least give you some pointers."

"That's... probably a good idea," Rose agreed. "I haven't got a clue what to do with it right now. I was just kind of... using it like a baseball bat?"

"You what?" Bucky sputtered. "You got a magical rifle and you're usin' it like a club? That's practically blasphemy."

"Well it's not like I know what to do with it," Rose muttered, going pink. "Figured it's better than shooting someone on accident."

"True," Bucky said. "Well, come on, let's go down to the shooting range. You're going to learn how to shoot."

"Okay," Rose agreed after a moment, moving over into the elevator. No way was she arguing with him.

Once she was in the elevator, Bucky hit the button for the shooting range. One of his rifles was already down there, so he didn't have to grab one, and he was relatively sure the range would be deserted this time of day.

In the gym, Summer was waiting for Steve to get his shield.
