"You flinch just before it recoils," Bucky said as she looked over the target. "Not every time, but a lot. Makes your shot go wide."

"Are you genuinely suggesting it, or are you mentioning it because you've been starving for the last half an hour?" Summer asked, grinning a bit. "Come on, let's go raid the kitchen and see what there is. I feel the distinct need to know exactly what someone as super rich as Tony keeps in the cabinets."

Rose huffed. "Yes, well, not like I'm used to shooting guns," she muttered, pouting a bit.

"Why can't it be both?" Steve asked with a shit eating little grin. But he swept his arm out, motioning her to go first.

"That's alright," Bucky said. "It ain't anything that can't be fixed." He grinned just a bit. "Trust me, I used to be worse."

Summer rolled her eyes and tried to suppress a faint blush when he let her go first. Yup, she was already in over her head.

"No way," Rose said disbelievingly, eyeing him. "I don't believe that." Almost without thinking, she dismissed her keyblade and rolled her shoulders a few times.

Steve followed her into the elevator, and then up to the main common area. He led the way into the kitchen, heading for the fridge to get out the pitcher of water.

"Feel free to poke around," he told her. "Just don't touch the toaster. Or the coffee machine."

"I swear," Bucky replied. "Hands shaking, couldn't aim, whole nine yards." He smirked a bit. "I put in a hell of a lot of range time."

That made Summer pause.

"Okay, that is officially the weirdest set of instructions I've ever gotten, up to and including 'touch the giant key' and 'walk through the liquidy mirror,'" she said. She eyed him. "What's with the appliances?"

"You must have," Rose agreed, "considering where you are now." She shook her head a bit. "Okay, so, I can work on that and my aim will probably improve."

"Semi-sentient," Steve told her, grabbing a protein bar to munch on.

Bucky nodded at that.

"Your form is actually pretty good," he said. "Work on the flinching and you should be in decent shape."

"What?" Summer said in disbelief. "No way."

"Okay." Rose shook her head a bit. "Never thought I'd need to learn how to handle a rifle," she muttered with a wry little smile.

"Oh yes," Steve said. "Tony on no sleep makes poor life choices."

"Well, better to learn now, than to need it later and not know how," Bucky pointed out. He swapped out the dead target for a new one.

"That sounds like several stories that I suddenly desperately want to hear about," Summer said, expertly avoiding the pop tarts in the cabinet and instead going for what looked like a box of cereal bars.

"True." Rose huffed a bit. "This is definitely harder than just whacking things with my keyblade."

Steve smirked. "Sometime," he agreed. He paused for a moment, listening, and then casually got out a packet of pop tarts and threw them up into the vent for Clint, who cackled.

"Not surprised," Bucky replied. He nodded to the target. "Try again."

Summer jumped slightly at the cackling, even though she sort of knew it was coming.

"I'm never going to get used to him," she murmured. "Him or Natasha."

Rose huffed but pulled her keyblade out of thin air again and settled in to work on not flinching.

Steve cracked a grin. "You get used to them eventually," he told her.

Bucky looked at the gun curiously.

"How do you even do that?" he asked in between practice rounds.

"i doubt it," Summer replied. "I really, sincerely doubt it."

"Do what?" Rose blew some hair out of her face. Her aim was improving. Slowly.

Steve just grinned and shook his head a bit, glancing at the clock. "You staying here?" he asked her.

"Pull the rifle out of thin air like that," Bucky replied.

"In the kitchen, or in general?" Summer asked carefully. "In general, it's not exactly as if we have anywhere else in this world to go, though I doubt it would be hard for us to head back in the direction from whence we came."

Rose was quiet for a moment as she debated how to respond. "Well, it's my keyblade," she said. "It's kind of... part of me? Attached? I don't know the best way to phrase it. But I can call and dismiss it at will."

Steve nodded. "So you'll be staying in the tower," he summed. "At least for now."

"Where does it come from?" Bucky pressed. "And where does it disappear to again?"

"Hopefully," Summer agreed. "Contingent on final say from the guy who owns the building and all."

"Don't really know," Rose admitted. "Not like I go with it. It just... Goes somewhere."

Steve nodded. "Tony won't kick you out," he told her. Then he grinned. "You're too interesting, even if you are, in his opinion, too close to magic."

Bucky raised an eyebrow.

"Your primary weapon and you don't know where it does?" he asked. "Or how it does that? I'd ask about it if I were you. Somebody's gotta know."

Summer grinned a bit.

"I can't help that one," she said. "It's not like I can control how a Keyblade works."

"There is someone who knows, but I can't ask him," Rose said with a shrug. "He's not available."

Steve just smirked. "I know. It's going to be fun to watch Tony."

Bucky raised an eyebrow. He wasn’t sure he liked the idea of someone who would just leave a newbie high and dry like that.

Summer looked at him a bit sideways.

“I didn’t realize you were so devious,” she commented. “Less straight laced than I expected.”

Rose shrugged. "It is what it is," she said, reading the look on his face.

Steve nodded. "Easier for everyone if I'm what the movies always showed."

“If you say so,” Bucky replied. He pointed at the targets. “Alright. Time for more shooting.”

“Suddenly so much about you makes so much more sense,” Summer said, just looking at him. “The punching bags, the banter, all of it.”

"More?" Rose asked with a hint of despair. "Again?"

Steve blinked at her. "What about the punching bags?" he asked, momentarily distracted.

“Until you stop flinching so much,” Bucky said, nodding. “It’s for your own good.”

“Why you punch them so much,” Summer said. “I’d want to punch people too if I were you and pretending to be the uptight golden boy.”
