My location is crazy. There's Starbucks all around me. Two in the mall that I work at (one in the main mall, the other in the Target that is apart of the mall) and one outside of it. The Starbucks that stands by itself outside of the mall that is in a tiny little plaza draws in a crowd of people I really don't like (who always tend to hog up what tiny seating space there is with their "
OMG, like, Chris did this at, like, Prom, can you believe it? Like, wtf smh," talk and empty drink cups, so I usually just try and stick to the ones in the mall. Even though Starbucks is expensive, I've maneuvered my way around the menu (and the online secret menu) over the past five years into getting drinks I personally feel are
well worth the money. They're all custom drinks too.
1.) Butterbeer!
Now I got this off of the secret menu site, but I only slightly tweaked with the number of pumps to my own standards. My dad always says it tastes like caramel popcorn to him.
- Start with a Vanilla Bean Frappe
- Toffee Nut Pumps (1 for tall, 2 for grande, and 3 for venti)
- Caramel Pumps (same number of pumps applies to Toffee Nut)
Depending on how much of a caramel mood you're in, you can get the inside of your cup drizzled with caramel. I feel it really adds to the taste of the drink, but sometimes when I'm feeling more on the plain side, I'll just get caramel drizzled on top of the drink.
2.) Yummy Fruity Iced Tea!
This is actually something a guy at the mall I work in came up with one time when they ran out of youthberry tea for some seasonal drink they had going on last year (I honestly forget).
- Start with a Passionfruit Iced Tea
- I asked for mine to be sweetened because I love sweet tea.
- Add in Lemonade
- And then lime refresher
This drink is always refreshing to me and if I'm running around doing errands or on a shopping spree when I don't need coffee, this is honestly my go-to drink from them.
3.) Monster Frappe (I think that's what its name was)
A girl at the Starbucks in the mall shared with me its recipe when I got hooked on the green drink they had out for one Halloween. I feel a bit better about drinking it since it's a green tea frappe base. Best part? I don't ever taste the green tea part. It always takes like a sweet mint drink to me.
- Start with a green tea frappe
- White Mocha pumps (1 for tall, 2 for grande, and 3 for venti - I use this concept for everything, just for future reference)
- Peppermint pumps
Sometimes if I'm feeling extra, I'll ask for them to sprinkle on chocolate.
4.) Creamy Caramel Latte Breve
This is my current go-to drink for when it's cold outside. I'm a fan of my coffee being creamy more than sweet. Guess that makes me weird.

- Start with a caramel latte
- Ask for them to use Half & Half instead of Whole Milk (it makes it more creamier than bitter, which is why I like to ask for it)
Since I like to drink my coffee right away, I'll usually ask for them to make it child's temperature if I remember to. (Half the time, I forget.)
5.) Coco Puffs Frappe
This is something I only get when I have extra money, need some drink therapy, or just want to treat myself as it is a bit of a pricey (so is Butterbeer but...), really sweet drink. Tastes exactly like Coco Puffs, and I use the direct recipe off of the secret menu.
- Start with a Vanilla Bean Frappe
- Hazelnut pumps
- Mocha pumps
