Naturally they won't take responsibility for their actions because it's much easier to blame someone else for the mistake. Just the society we live in now. Like how we have to put a fucking warning on everything because somewhere in the world someone ironed their clothes while wearing them. Apparently hot water and heated metal can cause some damage to your skin... who knew.

Netflix had it on there for a time, but it has since been removed, if I am not mistaken.

And if I lose on another two, so help me! Chance's head will roll.

Poaching is still very, very prevalent these days and extremely cruel. Just look up rhinos that have been dehorned and left to slowly bleed to death. Or the thousands of pangolins that are caught up and shoved in cages where they usually die in transportation. Animals are still tortured, and treated very cruely. It just is very rarely in the news. It's especially evident in what people do to dogs.

oh definitely. windows, car doors, sun roof, everything needs to be sealed shut.

I think there is a money factor because the zoos need money to care for their animals, but I imagine a lot of their income comes from families bringing their children to see these animals

Work day is from 8-5, with an only 15 minute commute. Just long days due to the physical work. I love my work, though.

Oh yes, I very much so remember Harambe. The mother was entirely at fault, and the gorilla was barely doing anything and was shot dead because of it. Gorillas are one of the most gentle, sweet, and loving primates. Even though they are portrayed as extremely violent because of the male silverbacks, they are not like that. They are not rage filled animals that want to kill everything. They CAN if they wanted to, but they don't go out of their way to be violent like some animals might. Chimps come to mind.

They never take responsiblity. People don't want to believe they are ever wrong. So much easier to point the finger at someone else.

People are greedy, self-absorbed, sue-happy, selfish creatures. Terrible, terrible creatures.

What?! I had no idea. I'll look it up on there now.

well I think it was the zookeepers who decided to shoot harambe. Not that he would purposely kill a child, but that he might accidentally kill the child. So I imagine they are the most informed possible people to make that decision, at least.

That shit with the Rhinos is enough that I want to chop off the poachers dicks and watch them slowly bleed to death, only seems fair.

There are some that consider zoos to be inhumane since you are keeping large animals in small enclosures that are not native for them.

People do some cruel things to dogs, make them fight each other to the death. Chain them up, beat them, starve them. The list of abuses heaped on dogs is truly disgusting and disheartening to see. Dogs just want people to love them and take care of them.

Far more than I could ever address. Dog fights, physical abuse, emotional abuse, abandoning them, starving them, depriving them of water, tying them outside on a lead in the sun, leaving them tied up so long that the chain grows into their neck, I could go on and on. I have seen so many stories online from dog rescues, and I worked at a humane society for some time. You see the worse side of people, and it is very, very ugly. How someone could do anything to such loving, and loyal animals as dogs is beyond me. Yet I don't know how they can do any of that to any living creature.

Always amazes me that the species that can do incredible good is also known for their ability to be the most destructive and horrific of all species. Other than whales, how many mammals play with and torture their food before consuming it? Not only that, we torture animals because it's viewed as "fun."

It is policy. "A human life is considered to be more valuable than an animals life." If a human is in danger and the animal cannot be removed from the human safely, then they will be killed. Even though the animal is in NO WAY at fault, that is zoo policy for the politics of it. The zookeepers mourned the loss of Harambe more than you could know. We are all very attached to the animals we care for, and something like that is a nightmare.

Adore it! I'm very fortunate to enjoy going to work. Many people can't say the same.

It is horrific and the thought of it almost brings me to tears whenever I think of it. I have worked with rhinos and they are the sweetest, most gentle animals. They are beyond affectionate and like giant dogs. Obviously don't go in with them because they could still kill you (terrible eye sight and the black rhinos are very territorial) whether they mean to or not. But I just can't see how someone could do that to them. It tears my heart apart.

Many people find zoos inhumane. However, what many people don't realize is that animals are only so active in the wild because it is required of them to survive. You must travel to go find a mate, food, water, a home. In a zoo that is all provided to them. I cannot tell you how many animals have massive exhibits and happily spend all day in one tiny part of it. They don't want to move around. They are lazy. They love to nap and sit there and eat. When they start pacing around, that is probably because they have the energy for moving around a lot and can get bored and often times stressed out by guests. It's also sort of a habit to pace. We provide animals with enrichment to entertain them and keep them active and involved so as to avoid stress and boredom, but it's easy to get tired of the same thing. I imagine they get bored in the wild too. And I hate when enclosures aren't fitting for the animal. But it often happens because people don't like zoos and won't go because zoos rely on that money to help upgrade and create new and better enclosures. A lot of them are old and out of date, and in this new age we know ways to make them far better, but it takes a lot of money to do so.

Chance is brutal, truly.

I imagine it is kind of how like pets are considered family. Except in this case, they are more wild, but still being cared for as part of the zoo family?

it is still sad though
