Dealing with the anniversary of my brother's passing this past weekend really threw me for loops I wasn't anticipating. It always hits me super hard, and I think it'll get better and it doesn't. :(

That's hard, Livi. :(
I'm sorry that it's so hard. I don't think death anniversaries ever get easier. Especially if they are deaths of someone very, very close to us.

I’ve had so many people tell me it’ll get better in time.
But it’s been eleven years and the pain is still so very real. T_T

Your avatar is very pretty btw.

I wonder,
I think sometimes time can help, but it probably takes a LONG LONG time. :(
Especially if you lost someone who was very close to you.
Have you been to grievance counseling?

Thanks, Livi.

I have. And I also see someone a few times a month. I have been for years.

You’re welcome!

She's great and I love her, and usually, it helps - just during those tough months (the anniversary of his death, and our birthday month), things sometimes get worse than other years. Some years are worse than others.

I'm sure that this year was worse than past years because it's also our second Thanksgiving without dad. :( So it's that on top of missing my twin.

Doing pretty good. Mom and dad are going down to Florida for the holiday season. I sent them cookies and Dad ate 29 of the 31 cookies! Which is a good thing because he really hasn't been eating much at all.

That's good to hear that you're doing pretty good.
Oh that's awesome! What kind of cookies did you make them? :)

If you haven't gotten your flu shot make sure you go get it. I think Walgreens is doing you get a shot they give a shot to someone in need. Trust me you do not want this flu this year.

We don’t get flu shots.
We don’t believe in them.
But thank you.
I react really badly to them as to my oldest kids.

Oh we do - as best we can...
Of course having 2 young kids in school, germs do find their way home.
More often than I wish they would. But it happens.

My thoughts on the flu shot - is they really have no idea what strain of the flu will be big, they really can only make educated guesses, so you don't even know if you're protecting yourself from the strain of the flu that will be brought home.

I feel the same way, Livi.
I, personally, don't get the flu shot. I have known too many people who get the flu shot, who later get the flu and it seems as though the vaccine didn't prevent that strain, so they end up even sicker than they would have been if they just did normal preventative things. :s

Yeah, I've seen the same thing happen. I've also had a family friend who got the flu shot, while he was sick with another strain of the flu (he didn't know he had it when he got the shot) and he was out of it for almost 2 1/2 close to 3 weeks... terrifying. Like in bed, no energy, bad.... so no. We don't get the flu shot. We just try to do our best to wash hands and do things to prevent getting sick, but they probably say that it's going to be a bad strain of flu to try to make people get the flu shot, even when they can't prevent it... or figure out exactly which strain will be the one that'll be the big one to go around.

Sorry if this is rambly... I'm exhausted, I've not been sleeping well.

If someone else wants to get a flu shot, feel free - but I don't need people pushing it onto me and my family. I'm not anti vaccine... just anti flu shot. All my kids are up to date on their regular kid's shots.

Also, hummy, that font and color that you're using is kind of hard for me to read.

I agree with you, Livi.
I am also not anti-vaccine, but I am anti-flu shot. I just feel like it's not really necessary.
My parents are very anti-vaccine, though. My mom read to me that they have a new vaccine for HPV and she said that instead of having girls vaccinated for HPV they should teach them abstinence.

I think that's pretty dumb because obviously, not every girl is going to listen and practice abstinence. And also, HPV can cause cervical cancer, so if one can prevent it, why not??

I thought HPV was like a virus like a cold. Not a sexually transmitted disease. I could be wrong

There are different strains of HPV, but the one that the vaccination is for is for the STD related strain.

HPV is basically warts. :(

That font is kind of hard for me to read, but the color is easier to read though.

Trying to do it all based on not having sex, means that I can guarantee that more kids will have sex... trying to do it based on abstinence means that it will not work... >.< I can guarantee it. TEACH KIDS SAFE SEX PRACTICES! TEACHING them safe sex is better than not even giving them anything on it -- not teaching and educating them, means that they'll go out and still have sex... without being safe.

GAH! D: So frustrating!

It IS frustrating, isn't it, Livi?! D:
ARGHHH!!! I HATE it when people think that by teaching kids "abstinence" that's going to protect them! NO it WON'T! If anything it's just making it so much worse for them because yes, while like 12% of the kids you tell to abstain from sex will do so, what about the other 98% who don't?!

It's SO much better to teach safe sex, or get a vaccine for STDs than it is to just say, "don't have sex".
