Almost 12 years ago, the anime Ouran High School Host Club was released unto the world. It pretty much has a cult following and, although w'ere not copy/pasting everything here, it's where the inspiration comes from. You need not know a thing about that story to hang out here, as we're making something all our own. :3

Within the confines of this hangout thread, visitors will be treated to culinary delights of all sorts and lavished with the attentions of handsome young men who have too much time (and often too much money) on their hands.

Our Setting:
Our setting is in the heart of Menewsha, the capitol city on the main island of the Chain archipelago; settled next to a mountain. It is at once a part of the Earth as we know it (often just referred to as "the main land") and something all its own. Residents are a mix of ethnicities, and while almost entirely human... some pointed ears have been spotted here and there. No one quite knows the how or why, but Mene appears to be held to a different standard of 'normal'.

Nestled within the central town, Our hosts keep up a lovely establishment with both a seaside and mountain view. Guests are kept in good company and entertained through various means. The majority of the Clubhouse space is set up as a very comfortable eatery, though the seating varies from the formal to the very cozy and casual. A raised dais is set on the far end of the room where a large piano sits, often unattended.

The Rules:
♥ Please obey all of Mene's fine rules. There will be flirting and romance in this thread, but remember that anything beyond a PG-13 rating is forbidden, even in private messages.

It takes a very special girl to be able to pull Harper out of his shell, so if you get his attention, that must mean you're very special. ;)

He's very sweet, but prefers to keep a safe distance until he knows someone well; he's not much one for physical contact, but flirts through eye contact, compliments, and giving gifts. He is vegan, and enjoys bringing vegan treats to share with our lovely guests.

Other important information: Harper became a host because he thought it would look good on his resumé.

He's also on the debate team at school, is an editor for the newspaper, and sings Tenor in the school’s highest ranked choir. He's taking both Spanish and French, and all of his classes are AP. His GPA is 4.0, and the lowest grade he's ever gotten on an assignment is a C, and that was because he had just gotten his wisdom teeth out and the medication made it hard to concentrate.

His sexuality is queer, so he welcomes guests of all genders to be hosted by him.

Personality: He is soft spoken and laconic. He doesn't outright give commands, but he points out the advantages to things being done the way he would want them to be done. Because he very rarely speaks, when he does do so people tend to listen. The other hosts tend to defer to his judgment, making him a sort of unofficial leader of their group. Whether he is seen or not, his presence tends to be felt in the tense way some of the other hosts conduct themselves concerning him, likely due to his unnerving habit of spontaneously appearing when least expected.

Other important information: Nobody's quite sure how long he had been a part of the Host Club. Some of the staff remember his being there in the past, but he always had the habit of coming and going as he pleases and it had been quite a while since he'd last been there.

Personality: Though at first glance he looks cool, the second he starts talking, silly things start coming out. He’s gullible, naive, absent-minded, too honest, and not very bright. He makes this up with optimism and a bright demeanor though, never lacking in friends. Even when people make fun of him, he doesn’t mind it since he himself knows he’s terrible at school. He’s the sort to get proud and boast over a D- score.

Other important information: He’s not actually popular with the young and cute girls, but tends to attract the attention of older sister types get doted on instead. Which, is fine really. He likes to get taken care of too.

Likes and Dislikes: He hates hearing people disrespect their mothers or other female authority figures. Nassii is a bit of a hedonist, though would not like the thought of his pleasure coming at someone else's expense. He adores music and dancing, fiber arts and all sorts of games.

Personality:
Officially, Nassii appears to be from Russia. He is curious, a flirt and insatiably Romantic. His Russian accent and forward personality make him a perfect, exotic fit in the Host club and he woos young ladies often by making them feel like they are the attentions of his inappropriate affections. They are often asked to run away with him. He is the most hands-on of the hosts, often moved to break the rules and actually show physical affection to some degree. His roguish demeanor often brings in girls who are attracted to the "bad boy" ideal.

Other Important Info: Nassii is actually not of this Earth. His home world is a place called Vidanya, where they haven't achieved our level of technology, but have magic to off set the disadvantage. He is not actually gifted with magical arts himself, but uses a special device to travel to other worlds.

Members of the host club are privy to more information upon request, but the general student population is aware of the following. Nassii is obviously not human. There is something strange about the pupils of his eyes, he has fangs and pointed ears. He always wears a strange vial on a chain around his neck, underneath his shirt. He is gifted with several different languages and is a natural-born musician.

Here's what we're looking for: ♥

♥ After some thought, I have decided that all hosts will need to be male or "passing as male" I think that we would lose a lot of the tension represented in the original show if we represented all genders in a single thread. (Anyone would of course have our blessing to make a female-based host club of their own!)
♥ Your character will need to fill some sort of niche in the group and have a theme. Since no canon characters from Ouran are currently being portrayed here, it opens up those "types" for original characters. (Examples: The Prince Charming, The "Cool" and collected type, The Strong and Silent Type, The "Natural") But you are also welcome to create something all your own!
♥ If you would like to play one of the canon characters, you will need to take into account our setting. We will have to decide if we want to consider this an AU of the original host club or if we're just continuing their story. Please PM me.
♥ Considering our setting and the amount of OCs, alternate races and some amount of magic or special abilities are allowed. I would rather this be aesthetic differences and/or something small (like levitating a cup of tea toward you) but many ideas could be worked in as long as they aren't god-like or break the God-modding rule.
*Mene is "magic-lite". Very few natives can do any at all and those who can don't do much. We have room for outsiders though. Menewshan lore has it that some protective spirit sealed away magical influences.

♥ Mene is a rather slow-moving forum. This hangout doesn't need to be kept in real time (so you won't have to excuse your characters out of the story) and I don't ask for a time commitment. Just post as you like and pick up conversations where you left them off, quoting if necessary. Easy peasy!
♥ And most importantly - You can do what you like elsewhere, but please always be in character within this thread! ((OOC aside, of course.))

Gender: Here's where it gets fun! The original story featured several cisgender males and one female who passed as a boy when she wore the male uniform but still identified as female. Any of that would be acceptable, as well as trans men, drag kings, gender queer and otherwise questioning character concepts.

Zodiac Sign: We're stepping away from the school setting. It allows for more of a variety of hosts to be represented. Since this is Mene, we're going to use the Chain Zodiac If you would rather have your character be older or younger than the other hosts, take a peek at their signs and adjust yours accordingly in that 12 year cycle. Otherwise, feel free to chose the chain zodiac sign that the player falls into, or simply the one that matches your host concept best! We may have multiple hosts with the same sign.

Birth Date Just for fun. Birthdays give us a real world tie-in to celebrate in our hangout's "story" It can be the player's own or their character's.

Blood Type: Some Eastern countries follow a sort of personality divination related to blood type. You can read more about it here. This just adds flavor to the bio and is not required. Delete this section if you would rather not use it.

Nassii had been on his way over to fetch the tea tray when the new man arrived and complimented him. He stopped and looked Tom up and down for a moment before leaning in to whisper.

"Zank you. I must rreturrn kompliment." He pulled back a bit and motioned toward the table. "I vas about to gather some teas forr zese lovely ladies. Is zerre anything I kould get you?"

Just then, his light-haired coworker burst in and Nassii winced ever so slightly. He gave the boy a knowing look and spoke of him briefly. " Ladies, and sirr, zis is Kanto. He another host herre.
