Ive used the trick of putting the camera somewhere with a timer, then making the timer a really long one, then just go back to what youre doing. That way, everyone looks normal if theyre not expecting it and you can sometimes get some REALLY good action/candid stuff!

I like using the timer as well. Problem is, that never works for outdoors photos, unless there's a conveniently-tallish tree stump nearby. So although I'd really like to take some photos of myself standing on the edge of cliffs wearing fancy old-fashioned gowns with the wind blowing in my hair, I never seem to be able to find a way to do that, especially since none of my friends or family seem to wanna help. *cries* :gonk:

I dont know what the price of a cheap little tripod would be from where youre from, im presuming the US or UK, but i picked up a fairly decent one here in Australia for $40 for my old (now dead) camera. I usually take that when ever i go somewhere i might take photos, and it does help for getting some better angles just taking them of yourself too!

I'm in the US. And that is a really good idea!! How easy are they to carry, however? Because sometimes I have to climb steep hills to get where I wanna shoot, so I don't like to carry anything that can't be easily fit into a backpack.

The one i got had its own little carry back. The legs usually retract back inside themselves and they fold away pretty tight. My one is maybe the size of a thermos? Ill see if i can find details of it online for you since i cant post pics of it... *grumbles about stupid camera*

Do they work for cheap point-n-shoot cameras? Cuz I don't have a fancy-ass camera just yet. lol.

Here is what i have Inca AT330 Tripod its nothing fancy, and fairly cheap too in comparison to the $120 one the bloke at the store first tried to sell me!

The way that this one works is that theres a platform part on the top of the tripod that clips off and on. It has a small bolt in the bottom and most cameras now days, even the happy snappers like i had, have the holes for them i think? To be sure, id advise taking your camera to the store when you go looking to get it, and ask to make sure that your camera will attatch to it by testing it first. Sales people shouldnt mind that because its a good sign you intend to purchase the product i think.

I have a tripod that looks exactly like the one you posted, Assassin. I take it nowhere though, because I like having things in my jacket's pockets.

Thank you! I actually bought them as plain white plugs and then painted them with blue nail polish. They came out quite nice!

Mimshi, on friday, my mohawk is going from black and white, to black and purple. Its been blue, green, red, black and white, and had i dont know how many different designs put through it. Once i get that done, ill be taking votes on what colour to go next.

The ONLY exception is *glares at Jelly* PINK! (or shades there of) other than that, its free game on colours.
