Not many. Of course, there's always hair dyes and wigs, but having that color naturally, helps.
And he's certainly gorgeous enough for the part. :B

As for the mom part, I think you just have to get her to read it. I mean, from the outside, it sounds like the typical cliched vampire novel ( no offense to vampire novels ), but if you could just get her to read it... ! >>;
You should like, have a bet with her! xD; "If you don't like it, blahblahblah..." and it'll get her to read it, and then she'll pay you and stuff. xD;

To be frank, I think the series is terrible. I have several reasons why, and their all neatly compressed in a thread on Gaia that I frequently lurk. I will happily list them here or give the link, but only if they're wanted. I get the feeling this is strictly a fan thread; so excuse me if I'm intruding, but I just thought I'd get a different opinion out there.

Well, then she may just be stubborn to keep her money. :P
And ohgod, Stephenie Meyer has a TERRIBLE editor. There's some errors. >.<
Like, look at the top of page nine of twilight.
We have the shining example of amazing grammar: "it had been belonged to me."
It should be "It had belonged to me," or "It had been mine." Ergh.
And at the end of Eclipse it said "who's" when it should have said "whose." Who's is appropriate in some contexts, but not that one.
Selmarixie - Everyone's entitled to their own opinions. ^^
I do hope that you've at least read the first book before forming such strong opinions, though. You can't go by the synopsis (which makes it sound terrible) or the first few chapters (which are somewhat sucky)

Twilight is ah-mazing.
I was a bit skeptical when my friend asked me about my taste in vampire books. I was spending my Christmas vacation with her and in need of books to read, so she went to her book case and pulled this black book off and told me to read it and that it would change my life for the best. It was called Twilight and the minute I read the part about the Cullen's I was hooked.
Recently I have been rereading the series to prepare me for Breaking Dawn in August (which I've pre-order but still plan to go to the midnight party at my beloved book store) and for the anticipated movie in December that friends and I plan to go see. Hopefully we don't freak out and fake-faint during it like we did over the teaser trailer and the ending Scene that was released.
Honestly, props to Stephenie Meyers.

I've read the first book, and part of the second. I didn't just jump the hate-wagon or anything like that.

The Twilight Series is one of my favorite series right now, its an outstanding book and whoever hasn't read it yet should. The first book in the series, Twilight, was so captivating and i read it in a day. I know a lot of people have a hard time starting it because of the first three chapters which many think is boring and I can't disagree. I had such a hard time getting past those three chapters but once i did I couldn't stop reading. The second book, New Moon. was so sad I actually shed some tears which i have never done while reading a book :P. In a way new moon was so annoying I just wanted to be done and read the next one (not going to say why because i don't want to be a spoiler) Anyways Eclipse was great ;) and I can't wait to read the 4th coming out in august.
Also I was kind of disappointed that they decided to make a movie because movies based off of books never live up to how good the book actually was. But me and my friends are still going to go see it i guess.

This must have taken a long time. Wow. NICE!
Twilight is my favorite series. I don't really like reading at all, but I could not put it down. I have read it 2 times already and working on a 3rd.
My favorite character's would have to be Edward and Bella. They are a way cute couple, and I am a lot like Bella. Edward is just the sweetest thing EVER. He is always there for Bella.
I am also excited for Breaking Dawn. :sarcasm: AUGUST 2ND:sarcasm:YES YES YES...I have read the first chapter already and LOVED IT.

There's enough discussion in my own thread on mental barriers on why I really can't gravitate towards these books. I've tried, I really have... but it's all too typical for me. :sweat:
Things like how Bella's described as being plain, yet everyone wants her, how Edward is overly described until he's a flawless, perfect vampire. How the 'vampires' don't have fangs (which in my book is just not a vampire). I dunno. I understand why everyone likes the series so much, I really do, but it all seems like some elaborate way for the author to insert herself into a fantastical story with a hot vampire to fawn over.

No no, I want people to talk about why they dislike the series. There's no point in having a discussion over the series if there is only one side to it. I can only stand "I LOVE EDWARD CULLEN" so many times before my brain starts to go into meltdown.

Twilight is awesome, but that is only because it kind of grew on me. In sixth grade I had to stop reading because the first three chapters were boring. I started up again and this time finished the book in two months because I want to take time to enjoy it.
My mom is hooked on it as well. ^^ I think she pre-ordered Breaking Dawn for herself so she could just finish up the series and move on in life because those books have kept her from other books. She's a freak like that with it comes to Harry Potter as well.
P.S. I am not a complete Edward fan like some of the other young readers. I love Jacob, but that little love started after my friend who read the books after me decided to yell at me and say that Edward was her's and if I tried to claim him she would slap me. These are fake characters people! But I still told her I like Jacob, and now I really do.

Fabby generally agrees with Ocarina, as she said in the thread about mental barriers. Stephenie's description of Bella is oddly parallel to the picture of herself... O_O;;
Vampires can be vampires without fangs. I can deal with that. But glittering, for god's sake? TOO MANY CREATIVE LIBERTIES!

Although, it's true that Bella's description parallels Meyers, however it's not uncommon for authors to do that. Another example: Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series. Look at Anita's description and look at Hamilton herself.

Obviously, the authors are going to create characters that mirror themselves in ways. When something comes from your own mind, that's just how it is. But blatant self-inserting is generally frowned upon, and it makes for a bad character... like Bella.

But Bella isn't like Stephenie, she only looks like her. I would have to say that having met Stephenie and having had lunch with her and everything that she's much more.. secure of herself than Bella is. Stephenie has a presence, and though she's very quiet, she makes herself known in a room. Bella has such insecurity with herself and the things that happen around her that I feel make her almost insignificant. If she weren't the main character in this series, I would never look into her being an extra in the story.

I never really got Bella as insecure. I thought she simply felt inadequate because she was living amongst a race of impossibly perfect people. But... I don't know, it's hard for me to make an accurate analysis because Bella really has no personality. It's difficult to compare her to a woman who obviously, as a real person, has depth. You getting my point?
As a side note... you had lunch with her? Awesome.

Bella is definitely a bit bland xD
And yeah, it was in December of 06 with a group of friends who were all part of the Eclipse Prom committee. It was fun. She answered a lot of questions for us and she was just very down to earth.

So do you have any dirty details on Breaking Dawn? Eh? Eh? -nudges-

my own dirty details that I do know, from reading the 1st chapter of it in NM, is that Bella has two new cars, the one she's driving in the beginning is the before car where its like misel proof and that it will defiantly protect her from anything. Don't know what the other car is, but we'll find out later I suppose XD.
The one surprise is that her mother Renee is happy that Bella and Edward are getting marryed and is helping to plan the wedding with Esme (though Charlie is more bitter cause he though Renee would try and have bella wait seeing as she is/was against getting married at a young age)
alright thats all I have, hopefully this is new to you (or who ever) XD
EDIT:((just realize that you were actually asking someone, eh well there's some details for people who havent read the first chapter yet.))

No dirty details from me. I haven't actually had a chance to speak with Stephenie in a while. That, and she's not really allowed to talk about Breaking Dawn in detail with anyone who isn't on the payroll at her publishing company, and what she can say is approved by her publishing company as well.
I have read the first chapter of Breaking Dawn several times now though. I'm anxious to find out what the after car is!
