I actually haven't read ANY other vampire books. It's just not a genre that generally interests me.
That said, I KNOW there are better vampires than the Cullens. xD The Cullens -hell, all of Twilight- is/are kind of silly and fangirlish. A fun read, but not like, classic fiction or anything.

Oh god.. its been a while since I've read any Anne Rice book... I only read the first two though.

Those were my favorite vampires, but only because they were gay... I have a weakness for gay men..

The first vampire book I read was Companions of the Night... I was disappointed with the ending.

Anne Rice never appealed to me. I tried to read her vampire novels, but I just couldn't ever get past the first few chapters of them.

what upset me about her novels was that although they were very much gay there was never any verification.

A simple kiss would have done, dammit! XD

I guess that's what made me like Twilight.. vampires that kissed! Yay!

I had to read that bit over and over before I finally got that we had randomly jumped to the next day and no sexing was going to happen.

Yeah, she jumped over the sexing so much that near the end, when Bella and Edward decide to have a serious conversation while sexing, I was very shocked. xD
But then it cut out again. >>

Haha...The Vampire Chronicles is just vampires, but Anita Blake is vampires, and werewolves/wereleopards/lots of other werethings, zombies, murders, mysteries, sex sex and more sex xD, more vampires, a faerie or two....just...pure awesomeness. O_O;

Noooooo! This is why I stopped after the first two books, because I knew Lestat would end up with a girl and a girl is a no-no for me!

It was the only reason I read Anne Rice, for the gayness! Edward is lucky I haven't created a good gay pairing for him yet! And I've already considered EmemmetXEdward! Y.Y

In The Queen of the Damned, Akasha, who is the "queen" of the vampires, comes back to life, and she picks Lestat to be her new king because she wants him. He falls in love with her. Problem is, she wants to kill all the men in the world, which he doesn't agree with because he's totally a good guy deep down. ;P
So he loves her like A LOT a lot, but she winds up getting her head chopped off and destroyed. (by him I think xD)

I didn't care because she was a crazy psycho bitch and besides, Lestat is MINE! :rofl:

I don't know. The characters outside of the Cullens are basically nonexistent, or so minor I don't remember them.

Unless you want to do something like Ed/Charlie, and that's just super creepy.
