I loved the book and want to see the movie even though movies usually wreck a series i my opinion. I am a relatively new fan having read all the books in the last month or so. I also being a fan of Harry Potter get annoyed when people compare the two they are nothing alike. I would just like to get other peoples opinions on that. Do you think Twilight can be compared to Harry Potter because i don't think they can.

The only things that they have in common is that they're for young adults, the main character is a teenager, they deal with supernatural things, and they've become very popular.
But a LOT of books fall under that category. Nothing about Twilight is very like Harry Potter.

Way back before Twilight became the big thing that it is now, a friend recommended the book to me and I tried reading it. I really did, but honestly, vampire lurv fiction just isn't my cup of tea, especially because I can't stand Meyer's writing style. And the fact that the plot in the book comes in after 85% of the book is over.

But then again, I can't really knock people for their fandoms, seeing as I'm a rather obsessive Star Wars nerd. :lol:

Although it does get irritating when my peers at school ask what is wrong with me whenever I say I don't like Twilight. I mean, I respect the fact that you like it, please respect the fact that I don't.

That's something that bugs me about the books. All of them (save the last). There is no plot for about 300 of 500 pages.

But they're so easy to read XD

The only way I can see Twilight as comparable to Harry Potter is because of its explosive popularity.
I'd rather not compare it any other way. XD
I mean, yes, I know I'm sitting here in the fan thread, and yes, I know I've made metaphors saying that Twilight is crack and I'm addicted; but Harry Potter is SO much better than that.
Not to mention, JK Rowling's writing beats Meyer's writing style with a stick, shoots it, and then brings it back to life only to beat it to death again. =_=

I only drink with my sister, in the privacy of her home, where I spend the night when doing said drinking. With one exception, but my mom came to pick me up and I came home. That was like. Two weeks ago or something.
I'm pretty much completely responsible when drinking. And I only drink every so often.
I wasn't responsible when I first started drinking, but I also didn't care if I lived or died. Times have changed. :lol:

Around my school and i'm sure around the world everyone has been obsessed in some way by a book known as Twilight. When I heard the general storyline, my jaw dropped about 10 feet...

Alright... A vampire romance... This crap has been on the gaia boards for as long as gaia started to suck. When i heard of this i think it was just an excuse for closet necros to breathe a sigh of relief, don't worry, there are more out there like you.

But hey, I'm here to discuss it with you, what is your opinion on the Twilight book series and movie? Should it have gotten the hype it has, or was it an over-bloated vampire romance.

I'm sure you already have my opinion on it by the description above, but I want your opinion

My image has been mildly Stewartish simply because she was cast before I started reading the books, but I still imagined her features as softer. You know, without a jaw that could poke your eye out... xD

I never paid attention to who was cast as what until after I had already read most of the book, at least, so I already had a picture of Bella in my head. Edward too. Neither actor fits this image, although he fits my image better than she does. :/
