"Puppy love"... ew. You just reminded of an essay about Jacob's imprinting on Bella's baby and why it's considered "child grooming".

I got through the first three books and then lost interest.
Stephanie Meyer is fairly talented, I think, but (and I'm sure some people will disagree with me here) large chunks of these books make for a very slow read. The entire time, I felt like I was rushing through an unedited list of dictionary.com's synonyms for "dazzling." When the action finally arrives, it comes too late and goes too quickly, and I was often left thinking, "Am I going to have to read through another hundred pages before something other than kissing and hand-holding happens?"
I think the audience of these books is, specifically, teenage girls with a religious background who are scared to just go out and buy a real bodice-ripper. Sure, the suspense and awe of Edward keeps everyone on their toes (at least until later on, when they gain some sense and release they were falling for a stalking control-freak who often acts completely illogically) but eventually, that just gets tiring.

I know this isn't STRICTLY related to the book, but...
All you ever hear about in my school with the girls, is Twilight. Mostly about how Edward is so dreamy and how all the other fangirls are posers. It makes me want to tell them to shut up because the only reason, and I know this for a fact at my school, that the only reason they like it is because of the fact that Edward was depicted as a god.
No real elaboration on his appearance.
Just - the most beautiful thing alive.
I admit I used to like Twilight, but I'm starting to really hate it because ever since it came out, especially the movie, people are always comparing books to Twilight. I just read a whole review where they compared it to Twilight. Yes, the book was a bit Twilight-ish because of the romance, but that's about where the similarities end.
Almost.
Another thing. We have people in my school, that despise reading. And after the Twilight movie came out, all of a sudden, their reading Twilight like its normal for them to read. It really irked me, I know it's stupid, but it did. I'm all for more people reading, but that's probably the only book their going to willingly read.
And after the third book, it became so airtight that it suffocated everyone. Even the vampires.
Because, really, Steph; who needs plotholes?
By the way, I'm not trying to insult the people who do like Twilight.
Just the ones that tried to beat me up for wearing my 'I leave bite marks' Tee-shirt.

Please don't double post, Shady Mane. It's against the rules here.
Anyway. I find it difficult to like the books with the fangirlism going on too. Mostly because one of them resides in my household, truth be told. I can ignore them on the internet, but not when I live with them. (Which is why I haven't been spending much time here.)
But they'll move on to something else eventually, right?
I would say that getting someone into reading is a good thing... even if they are only reading Twilight. They might decide to pick up other books like Twilight and branch off from there.

Now, don't go chopping off my head for this but I have a personal disliking to the series. I don't know how people could get into something that (to me) seems to be a piece of kitsch literature. None of the characters appeal to me and Bella makes me cringe because it seems that her gut feeling and intuition have been disabled by her hyperactive lust for Edward...

I can't be the only one who thinks Stephanie Myer is possibly the worst writer to ever garnish outstanding media attention since Paris Hilton.
Because, her writing is like, JUST SO BAD.
I edit my school newspaper, and the staff is a bunch of douches and the stories I get are TOTALLY DIFFERENT than what I got last year.
Twilight movie reviews, short story about vampires and humans and their sexy love, short story about monsters and humans and their sexy love, short stories about vampires and other vampires getting it on.
YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW FRUSTRATING THIS IS. My staff already writes like a bunch of fucktards who had never open a book ever, but how the hell am I supposed to edit something titled 'Forbidden Moonlight, a Dangerous Love Affair'?!?
I blame her. Totally. And I got 8 book reviews. THEY WERE ALL TWILIGHT/TWILIGHTSPAWN.
It just rots me. At least Harry Potter was really well written and enjoyable to all demographics, not just horny teenage girls who are blinded by Edward's sparkling sparkles to realize what a lesbian he is.

I hate Twilight. And yes, I read the books. It just rubs me the wrong way. The thing that bothers me most is that it's a poorly-written generic mediocre twu wuv romance series (NOT a saga) and yet it somehow managed to spawn a big media sensation, pushing better and more interesting books aside instead of dying on the shelf like it should. Not only that, but Smeyer is an utter drama queen. "OH NOES YOU LEEEKED IT SO I'M NOT GUNNA RITE MY BUUK CHAGRIN CHAGRIN." She needs to quit having such a holier-than-thou I'm-a-genius Kanye West ego.
And that's how I feel about Twilight.

I think that some books are so good that they don't need to be anywhere near the movie industry. Movies are known to skew the story of the book, and that angers me when i see a good book turned into a mediocre movie.
Twilight.... Lets just say that it was not so bad it was good.... It was just... So bad it was really really bad. And then turning that into a movie is an accident waiting to happen. It shouldn't have been a movie. Or at least if it was a movie it shouldn't have been a book.

Twilight used to be my favorite series until it was made into a movie and everyone started obsessing over it. -__- Now, I don't like it as much because there are too many fangirls stalking Edward Cullen and it has become too cliche. Sometimes I wish that Twilight hadn't been made into a movie, but then again, I'm kinda ashamed of having read the series. ^__^'''

I found the series horribly sexist, to be honest. D: And I found the fact that she tries to subliminally make girls believe in Mormon principles very frightening. And, on top of that, it just sounded like a bunch of purple prose to me.
Not a fan. >w<

So I'm rereading Breaking Dawn right now, and I don't know how I didn't see what was coming in the beginning of the book. I mean, hello, there are so many clues in the early chapters. -feels stupid-
Anyways, I forgot how much this particular book annoyed me.

i use to love the twilight series but now i do it. it is way overhyped just because of the movie. i think breaking dawn was the worst book since all the characters acted differently and it just wasnt the same.
i personally think that stephenie meyer makes herself seem a bit racist in the series if you think about it...not going to say much so the fangirls wont attack me but....it just so happens that jacob BLACK is a werewolf and is dark and hairy... and she always emphasizes Edward's pale light skin and how perfect he is and never once did bella say that jacob was perfect...i personally would be a little freaked out if someone like edward cullen came into my life....he seemed like a stalker in the beginning of twilight

I love the Twilight saga.
It's one of the favorite series other then Harry Potter.
Twilight was the only other series to grab me and pull me in while I was reading it. No other series or books since Harry Potter could do that. Ever Since I had read HP, I've found it really hard to get into books but when I picked up the Twilight books, I just couldn't put them down.

I read all of the books and didn't particularly like any of them. When I first read Twilight, it was a good read, and it was before most people knew what Twilight was. However, New Moon was disappointing and it just went downhill from there. I found Breaking Dawn to be a disaster and I no longer have any interest in Twilight. I am disappointed in Stephenie Meyer, so much so that I have delayed reading The Host, which I have heard is not all that good, either. I didn't even bother to see the movie for Twilight and I don't understand why everyone is all obsessed over it. =/

When I first read the series, yes I loved them. I didn't get introduced to them until after New Moon was published, and then I was only drawn into them by the birthday party scene. Then I read Eclipse once it came out (Sorta, I convinced my school's library to get it). And was fairly excited for the movie. Though I personally thought the guy who played James would have made a way hotter Edward.
Breaking Dawn disapointed me in so many ways. And I began to realize that Edward was to perfect. He was the only one of his family (other than Esme and Carlilse, but they are barely developed characters) who doesn't have any major faults. Rosalie has her vanity and jelousy, Emmette is too quick to act, Jasper has issues with not eating humans, and Alice... Well, Alice's visions have faults, and she's a shop-a-holic. Which is a bit annoying in my mind.
Edward - could easily kill Bella, but doesn't. In Midnight Sun (what was written at least), he sees himself has having to many faults. Bella, she's pretty darn near perfect too. She's able to resist what supposedly no newborn vampire has ever resisted, save perhaps for Rosalie.
And Nesse... Her whole existance annoys me.
As far as Jake, being forced to fall in love? That's another thing that I found I didn't like.
While my like for the series has faded, I still find them to be good reads. Though now I may only be reading the scenes with my favorite characters since the rest is painful for me. The Twilight movie was good, in it's own way. Different from the book, but still a good movie. As for New Moon? Alice better be a better-developed movie character or I will not be happy.
At this point, I view the movies as I do the Harry Potter movies: I will watch them in theatres if I can afford it. Unlike Harry Potter, I'm not planning on buying them as I don't think it's worth it.
Now if The Host was going to be turned into a movie, that would excite me. Of her five published books, I think the Host was one of the bests. It is a great read, especially if you are of the older end of the "young adult" range.

Personally, I don't like the Twilight series. I have not read them, though I was at one point interested enough to do so, but decided not to. I lost interest. Twilight fans can go ahead and like it, since they have that right and all. A lot of the Twilight fans I know are grossly obsessed with it... I just think that lately it's overrated and not as important as some people are making it. I mean, seriously, there's Cullenism. Edward Cullen, the sparkly vampire, has a religion. What the hell, people? That's getting a little out of hand. :\
So... I conclude this thought with, anyone can like it if they want, I don't, I'll read it when people stop making such a fuss. :|

I enjoyed the Twilight series for the novelty of them, and the story.
But I really hope Stephenie Meyer gives up writing. She is not a good writer, at all. Sure, her Twilight series is fun to read, but it will never make it onto a canon or win a pulitzer prize. Nor should it.
This may seem mean, but it's the truth.
