Oh, I don't have any IRL friends on most sites I bop around. On Gaia there are a couple, but I usually stick with phone calls and e-mail to keep in touch with them.

Well, most of my RL friends are at work during the day, and they all have office jobs, so we chat in another forum. Two of them work at the same place, and all avatar sites have been blocked for them. So we made a free board out in the intarwebs somewhere and chat there. Everyone used to be on Gaia and Mene, but not so much anymore...

Ah, well, I be a lame college student with a dinky four hour per week thing I do on weeknds. I'm a hostess in a Chinese Japanese place, so I basically just stand around looking pretty and every now and then like, do my job and seat some people. >< Business is slow in the summers, but I still get paid, so it's alright by me.

What year are you in college? What's your major(s)? :D
Hostessing wouldn't be too bad I don't think. I was a hostess at a place called Aloha Chopstix for a few weeks. It was a sketchy place and they closed down eventually. I don't think I was cut out for restaurant work anyways. XP
And as long as you're getting paid, it's all good. I don't think I'd mind standing around and getting paid. XD

That I have! It's a bit pricey to start with, but that gives me something to work toward. I want to get the red party frock, I think it's called a holly one, but I don't always remember. And then the big head bells! Still, it's a goal that will be so much easier to reach once that event you mentioned comes into play.
Oh, I'll be going into my second year, and I'm a computer science major. Eventually, I want to become a software engineer!
Oh, hostessing is rather interesting when you can't understand anyone else who works with you! XD Because everyone I work with is fresh from China. They speak English, but only when they speak to me or the customers.
Yeah, it's a pretty neat thing. I tie up in my kimono and stand there for two hours on two days, and get a little more than $30 out of the deal.

Well, not all shop items will be half off. Only the new commons that are released during every event. But there will be games, and a lot of chatting, so it should be easy to earn gold during the event. The staff usually hosts events too, like an avatar contest, an art contest, hangman, trivia, etc. So there's plenty to do. Users also host events in their own threads as well. Events are one of my favorite times on Mene. Seems like everyone comes out of the woodwork. XP
I wanted those bells too, but I've never bought them for some reason. I guess I feel like they make an avatar top-heavy or something. XD Good luck on getting both of those items though! It shouldn't take too long if you chat and play games on your main and mule every day.
Ooh, computer science. Cool! I'm sure jobs in the software industry will be there for years to come. Good career choice. :D
I was a journalism/psychology double major and I work at an association for copy machine dealers now. I work on the company magazine, along with a bunch of other stuff.
Oh wow, they're all from China? I guess that restaurant must be pretty authentic, right? Do you live in a big city?
Ooh, and you get to wear a kimono? FUN! XD I'd be one of those nerdy american tourists that goes to Osaka and dresses up like a geisha. XP
Sorry for the late reply. I'm trying to get my daily Tetris in. XP

Aha... well, if I have people to chat with then it's all good! :D
Well, on Gaia I'm an avi making pro! :) Right now I have a red/pink Japanese themed thing going on. If you search Mikazuki of the Moon you'll find me. I love the big bells, the color of them should balance nicely with the accent color in the dress. In theory at any rate. If not, well, I have big bells of awesome!
Well, I chose it because of it being a growing field, but also for the instat-ish gratification part. I started out in Biology actually, but it drove me nuts to do the fun stuff and then rewrite for hours of miserableness. Instead in computers, I do all the work first, writing the code, and then have the satisfaction of it working! My typing away actually does something! And that's why I love it so much, that reward at the end of a project. Like, just making a button clickable made me so happy.
Eek, English was always my weakest subject, but that's pretty neat!
Oh yeah I do! :D It's awesome! Even if I'm the only one wearing it... and the only American. It's kinda funny.
Ah, yes, daily Tetris. >.< No worries, I'm bopping about on like five different screens.

Yeah, you should have no problem finding people to chat with during the event. XP
Ah, my Gaia avatar is also quite well-dressed. I've been there since '03, so I've had time to expand my inventory. XD I'll have to go check out your avatar. I haven't signed in yet today, so I should probably go feed my fish and do the DC. Maybe post in one of my long-overdue RPs.
I started in Bio too! XD But I quickly realized that it was going to be a lot of work to become a doctor or researcher, so I took the easy way out with journalism... XD *is lazy* It's a fun job and not too stressful, which I appreciate. :)
I'm glad you enjoy your field though. That'll be important later in life. It's not good to be sick of your job right off the bat.

Awesomesauce! Because I never shut up! I chatter chatter chatter chatter chatter.... on and on, it's fun!
Oh, I started in 06, but got hacked, so then I had to start all over, which was frustrating. But I had a few friends that helped me out a bit, and got back on my feet alright. What I really want to do is save up for an Angelic Scarf on there, and give to a friend of mine who has been beyond awesome. 5 million is not the easiest to come by though... ah well. You should totally shoot a friend request my way! :D
Oh that's so neat! It wasn't that I didn't love the classes, but all that labwork... it killed it for me. So that's why I changed over to computer science, which is both the easy way and the not so easy way. I have to take an obscene amount of math classes.
Hm, yes, that would be why I pissed off my mom and changed majors. I realized pretty darn quick that biology was just not for me. I guess I'll just stick with reading about the latest discoveries on teh interwebs.

I just added you on Gaia. :D It sucks you got hacked! Did you send in a feedback form or whatever? I have had a bunch of friends get hacked, and they usually get their items back. Sometimes you have to wait quite a long time though. Still, it'd be worth it. I'd cry. A lot. If I got hacked.
Awww, it'd be sweet of you to get an AS for your friend. :D Those are hard to save up for. I managed to get both my angelic and nitemare scarves a couple of years ago. I quested for a long time. My current quest is DJ headphones, but I know that's virtually impossible, so I've kinda given up on them at this point. Too much money that I'd like to spend on evolving items and such. XP
OH man, labwork was my favorite part of Bio! I didn't like lectures so much. All that ATP/ADP nonsense... I just didn't want to go through it again. I took Bio 2 in high school, but couldn't get out of Bio 104 in college for whatever reason.
Computer science would kill me with all its math! That's where I have issues. I took calc freshman year of college and that was the last math class I had to take. Needless to say, I can balance my checkbook, so that's all I really use math for nowadays. XP
It's good that you realized bio wasn't for you at the beginning. You could spend a lot of money going to college if you keep on changing majors. I had a friend who was in for 7 years because he kept switching majors.

Oh yeah, I sent things in and yadda yadda yadda, but nothing became of it, so I had to suck it up and deal. I did cry a bit, since it happened 3 days after a funeral and 4 days before my 19th birthday. -.- It was really freaking bad timing.
Oh, yes, rather. I have to basically double my value. >.< My entire invo is worth one freaking scarf, and a little bit more, but not by much. He doesn't know about it though. It's supposed to be a suprise. I tend ot pick up EI's too often, and then I end up donating, and then i never have gold for my quest. ><
Oh the lab work itself I loved! It was the lab reports that I utterly despised. I didn't think I should have to spend three hours in the lab and then five more writing up what I did in the lab, only ot earn a poor grade.
Ah, well, math I find fairly simple, it's straightforward and there is rarely more than one answer to a question. Plus, I have a kick butt calculator that is just too incredibly awesome, and does everything for me.
Ha! I know someone like that too! For the same amount of time!
