Its not that your work is bad, however, you should practice around more and you will get better.
Oekaki:
Your lines are extremely sketchy. Its hard to enjoy your art without noticing the really sketchy lines. Also, your coloring is very....loose.
I think thats a good word..
i think that after you lay down a darker color (or a lighter color) you should go back in with the color you layed down before it, and clean up the coloring... play around with it.
I think that once you learn to clean up your lines and coloring, you will greatly improve.
OpenCanvas:
again, the sketchiness. You seem to spend alot of time doing each individual strand of hair. I think you should probably work on blocking out clumps of hair instead. and then, go in and block out the shadows and lights.
do use references too on body structure and poses if you need it.
Dont completely copy, but, just reference~ :'3
.... i hope that helps a little bit ^^;;;

If you're wondering waht kinds of art to do more of, I would suggest non-bustshot work to help you get a better grip on proportions and canaotmy. You're starting off in a good place, but some more expansive work shouldn't hurt.

I find colored pencils actaully to have better color variation than the 256^3 possible colors than a computer can create. The key to colored pencils is ot layer them, which produces a much winder range of color than using a signle pencil by itself.

I use REALLY cheap ones, the 72 count.. and I have a tendency to press down too ahrd IRL.. and I lvoe the computer's brightness <_<;; XP I got pampered.. .but my paper and pencils are cheap (and.. x.x I forgot to egt a pencil sharpener)
*edit* OH and I know how to layer with a certain "pencil" effect.. and it does do a semi seethru weaker "pencil" version

I got to say that I really enjoyed looking at what you have here. It is really nice. You express yourself well. And all artist need practice. So don't be down on yourself with that. All in all, I really liked it. You should have a shop when you get Open Canvass again, or even if you hand draw them.

Yeah, that would make it difficult to make a shop if you don't have a scanner.
