and i think there was something called magic knight rayearth then, too.. if i'm not wrong.

i only seriously started watching anime when i saw Rurouni Kenshin on TV when i was 13 or so.. =)
All thanks to AXN, when they aired anime like that and Slam Dunk, Vandread, etc.

My first first anime was Sailor Moon when I was six, but I didn't know it was an anime. It was when I started watching Yu Yu Hakusho was when I learned what anime was. And thanks to Anime Network, I learned a whole lot more!

The first anime I ever saw was Akira, the original before the redubbed it and that was when I was like two or three years old. After that it was Vampire Hunter D, I didn't get into anime though until I started watching Dragon Ball Z and Sailor Moon.

Does My Neighbor Totoro count? My parents rented that for me when I was really little. I know Sailor Moon wouldn't count because although I bought products with that name on it, I had no idea they were based on an anime (I didn't have the cable to watch it). So the first anime I watched was pokemon since it was on a regular channel, along with monster rancher. However, I started getting into anime in general when my friend told me about Digimon and lent me Slayers and Magic Knights Rayearth. Those two fantasy animes were the ones that really made me want to find even more shows.

Hmmm, the first anime I've ever seen probably started with Akira then Pokemon. At the time, Akira terrified me a little, well that's stretching it. Akira grossed me out a little. Pokemon was light hearted fluff that I watched at 6am while getting ready for high school. The first mangas were probably Ah! My Goddess and Fushigi Yugi. Kosuke Fujishima's art (AMG/OMG) blew my mind at the time, so I began collecting the graphic novels... which has spawned a library of manga in my room.

If it has to be the first anime of which I KNEW it was an anime, it'd be Tsubasa Chronicle or One Piece (I think they were shown to me on the same day :P), both showed to me by by cousin xD I think my first manga was Fruits Basket, but I bought Yamamade and Ouran quite early after I discovered manga, too, so I'm not sure xD

My first anime was either Sailor Moon or Neon Genesis Evangelion because I recall watching both when I was around six years old. I know that the latter isn't exactly for six-year-old viewing, but it wasn't as if I knew that back then. :sweat:

First anime I ever watched was Ghost in the shell from a video or DVD.
I was allowed to come watch in the dorm. There was no anime on the regular TV at the time. I thought, that seems like a neat cartoon...Though I didn't understand much of it. I just recalled a robotic looking person. Later this show came to cartoon network and I realized,,,OH yeah, that's the first anime I saw many years ago.

well the one that i really payed attenchen to was dbz but pokemon was always on in my house becasue the rest of my family liked it i just sat in my room. my friend then got my into dbz and inuyasha

My first manga was Fushigi Yugi, and my first anime was Slayers. Well, technically it was sailor moon, but that was way earlier and I didn't actually get into anime from it.

I actually read voulme 2 of Fushigi Yugi first, because my friend had a bunch of manga, and I was like "ooooo this one has a pretty cover" so i picked it up and started reading it and had no clue what was going on 'cuz i hadn't read the first one.

Well i saw Pokemon but the first Manga i read was Tokyo Mew Mew

I did not know at the time, but Dragon Ball Z was my first, and like the first person said I fell in love with Tenchi. That was when I knew it was called anime. But what first got me really interested in it was Inuyasha. As sad as that is. But that was what led me to search for new and different things to read or watch.

I'm not really sure. Either it was DBZ, DBGT, Neon Genesis, or InuYasha. I got into anime in like 2nd grade so I'm not sure.

I think my first anime was Sailor Moon. My first manga was Ranma 1/2.

The very first anime that I was exposed to was "Candy Candy" and it was even dubbed in my native language! I was in 4th grade at that time.

But the first anime that I really got hooked on was SAILOR MOON. X3 I even pretended to be "sailor mercury" she was my favorite. XD this was during 5th or 6th grade.

My first MANGA is Fruits Basket. I love FURUBA so much! and its sooooo much different than the anime.

Well seeing how Robotech doesn't REALLY count because it was american made.... I'd have to go with Ranma 1/2.

...no wonder I have an affinity for all the strange shows... LOL
