I absolutely love this series ever since cartoon network showed it. It just sucks how they suddenly took it away because they fear that people think Kenshin was a "god". After years realizing that this series won't be coming back, I started to finish it in youtube. I gotta say, the last movie made me cry a lot.

Anyways, if you have seen this anime, who is your favourite character and why? What do you like and not like about this series? Which one do you prefer better: anime or manga?

My favourite Character is Sanosuke. I don't know why but I just do lol. I absolutely like everything from the first OVA to the very last movie. I think this anime was well done with the plot and humor. Since I haven't read the manga, I have no idea which one is better.

Wait wait what?? They stopped airing it because too many people were idolizing Kenshin??
If that's so I was one of them. But. I didn't think a reason like THAT would be the answer as to why it stopped showing, esp since I think not many people would take it that far anyway. O_o Are you sure that's how it is?

I have no exact preference to the media but I think I'll go with manga, since I like canon, and anime changes a lot of things without direction by the author.

Here they showed the complete series and everyone loved it.. I don't think no one would say kenshin was god or something like that I have never heard of it

Ahhh <33 Kenshin was love I wish there was a man just like him and in top of that, he loved you~~!! hehe he was awesome >w< My favorite character was Saito he was just plain awesome and I loved all his tecniques <33 His swords were the best <3

Soijirou was one of my favorites too he was so cute <3 strong and I really liked his background and it was so slashable his relationship with Makoto hehe I loved them together >w<

The story of this anime came downhill after Kenshin got blind and they hallucinated the whole EnglandxJapan fight I think it was too much they should have sticked to the manga

I started watching Kenshin way before Toonami began showing it on television- in Japanese with subtitles, though I've been known to watch it in English too.

But I love the anime, and hope sometime to read the manga. Though it's long... It'd certainly lighten up my wallet, that's for sure. XD

Anyway, I always liked Sanosuke and Kenshin in that series.. Very fun characters.

• Rurouni Kenshin was one of the first animes I got into. It was actually the first series I started purchasing in DVDs.
  
  The dub makes me cringe. When I heard it was going on Toonami, I was glad I didn't have cable to run into it...^^;
  
  I love Kenshin and Sojiro! :D I just found their characters and histories so fascinating. ^_^

Yeah, I'm guessing that is why they took it out because if you look online, they are trying to get it back on air with petitions. Well even small things can offend some people so yeah.

Oh my, love Rurouni Kenshin, though I have to admit when I first saw the commercial I thought it looked so stupid. Though when I watched it, I got hooked, was sos ad when they took it off the air, very disappointing. I bought some of the dvds from the series, the last 3 of the entire series, the directors cut of the Samurai X movie, and taped several shows from the tv.

I know! I was so bummed out when I heard them say they will be taking it off. I was like.. why do they want to do that? A lot of children likes it so why take it out?

I watched alot of hte series at an ex-friends house. It was so amazing. this was like 6 years ago though. I keep meaning to lok on ebay for the complete collection to watch it again. Since i remember the plot line but none of the characters XD Its sad I know but meh.
Im also planning on getting the manga for it at some point. Like when I have extra money in the bank account. maybe next year XD i generally perfer manga to anime. Specially if i cant stand the voice actors in the animes. which happens more often then i like to admit. :sweat:

I know! I love the story. I'm almost done with the series but it seems like it is taking me forever since I'm also watching 3 other animes: Ai Yori Aoshi, Saiunkoku Monogatari and Ah! My goddess xD

RK was the manga and anime that made out of me the otaku i'm now xDDD
In Spain it started airing seven years ago, and they had it on air like 5 times the whole anime. When thay where on the 3rd time, Glènat Spain started to publish the manga.

It's my fav manga ever, and one of the better animes i've ever seen (though the anime went down after the Kyoto saga)

My favorite character is Sojiro, i was all intrigued to know why he smiled all the time, and when they said i just could fall in love with him <3
He was the first one of my little "creepy smiling boys" collection, after him i developed a tendence to like always this kind of charas in every manga i read xD;; Of course So-chan still stands the number 1 ò_ó <33

I love the pre-RK movie more then the rest of it. While it was good, the entire pacifist thing got boring to me. Samurai X told a great story, even tho its not for kids at all. So as far as fav characters it would be Kenshin before he changed his ways.

The last movie was a sad one. Great story but a sad way to end a story.

I agree with Taz. The main series was too long and drawn out..

I agree. I love the last movie, it is so sad and touching. I am still not done with the anime yet (almost half way in english version).

And usually I read the manga before I watch the anime. And I always love the manga better than the animes that I've seen. They always tend to miss alot in the anime and get more detailed in the manga. But I wouldn't know what I like more since I haven't read the manga.

And now I'm letting my friend borrow the dvds that I have with all the anime episodes and I hope he is watching them. lol.

They actually stopped airing the series because of all the fillers; the ratings went way down before they could get to the Jinchuu arc xD So then they made movies to tie it all in.

This is actually the first anime I ever saw so I hold it very dear to my heart.My favorite character is Soujiro. I was hoping he'd make a comeback in the manga, but seeing as I only have 2 left to read and he hasn't shown, I'm going to guess not. I think he's just the cutest, most adorable assassian and he should totally go with Misao xD

Sano is my other favorite though. You have to love a tori-atama <3 And what's better than a rooster with a fox? <3

And whenever my friend buys the mangas, he always gets them off the internet. My friend spends all his money on manga and anime. It's crazy.

Yep yep, the majority of race in my school is Asian so what do you except haha. Unbelievably, my school just started buying lots of manga since last year and bought twice as much this year. The mangas are very popular since almost all of them are always checked out.

I don't buy that much animes really; only those that still interests me after watching it once :D

i like the anime and the manga of the series, i think it really good but i dont like the lady/woman a lot in this series.
i like the anime at first but then now i think it kind of boring...
