@Hungry_Wolf: I haven't played Samurai Warriors yet, there are budget issues, but mostly because I just thought of it as another version of DW XD;;
I agree with you though, DW needs more improvements, instead they are adding mediocre characters and removing features that were previously available.
No offense to Xing Cai, since you adore her XD but I feel they've made her personality way too bland. I would have prefered if they added characters that were actually useful in history too, like take off Guan Ping and Xing Cai, and add in Guan Xing and Zhang Bao instead.
@Alegretto: Zhen Ji is more like an expensive hooker XD;; but yeah, totally agreed, at least give her some elegant costumes. If I ever tried to fight in her clothes, I'd trip over and die XD
I did a term in Japanese history, but as I try to recall it, I'm coming up with a blank. *goes to do some research*

Oh, there are hundreds of interaction qoutes in SW2 Empires, hundreds. All of them funny or just neat. It's really awesome that they went that far. Some of them really off the wall when you employ them.
And Starshine, get SW2 or Empires..and you'll see the difference for sure. And yeah, I agree she's bland. I just said she was cute, I didn't say she was a interesting character =P She's okay.
And yeah, it'd be nice if they started added characters who were actually vital to the three kingdoms.

Ah, another gaming series I can't seem to get enough of.
I originally was hooked on it back when a buddy of mine casually brought over DW 3 for me to try out. I loved it right off the back, and kept watching the series.
It's a game of simply senseless violence, a hack and slash across numerous ancient battle fields against countless peons just for a shot at the glory of taking down a fellow officer.
The series has taken marks for the lackluster AI that the soldiers support, but all in all, it's just a really great game. Basically every General or Lt. General gains super-human like powers, the ability to throw around your enemies...well, that's just part of the fun. Historically it even has some value.
I haven't really read into very much of the new MMORPG version of it, Dynasty Warriors B.B. ((Called by it's Japanese name currently))
I'm still playing DW 5 - Empires. I love the custom characters, and am always writing my own mini-stories to accompany them.
Great fun overall with the entire series. I'm a loyal fan, and I'll keep buying the games, just for the fun of playing with a few new characters and enjoying absolute hack 'n slash chaos in new environments.
I haven't played the Samurai Warriors games yet...not once, but I'd really like to start sometime. I've never actually seen any in stores...maybe because I haven't known what to look for. *shrug*

Hungry_Wolf: I will check it out the next time I have money to spend, right now I'm spending it on Mene XD;; It's available in PAL right? I can't play any NTSC games T_T
Gabriel: DW BB is only available in Japan, which is a pity, it looks like fun XD
I got ROTK online, and have access to a friend's account, but because my ISP is Australian, I can't connect to the servers, so even if DW BB goes to Asian, I still won't be able to play.
Custom characters is one of my favourite features, sometimes I make original characters, sometimes I make historical characters that I think should be in the game.

I LOVE DYNASTY WARRIORS!
My favorite male characters are Zhao Yun, Zhou Yu, and Ling Tong. Zhao Yun because he's strong and oh so Handsome(and sexy sounding). Zhou Yu because he's handsome and intelligent. and Ling Tong just because he's so buku powerful and so downright sarcastic!
My favorite female characters have to Xiao Qiao, Diao Chan, and Sun Shang Xiang. Xiao Qiao is my favorite just because i find it very easy to related to her. Diao Chan is my favorite because she looks like she's dancing once you get her full combo going. and Sun Shang Xiang is my favorite just because she's a tomboy and one very acrobatic one at that.
But out of everybody, Xiao Qiao is tops!
I love the hack and slash nature of them game. and i love trying to get all of the inner storylines between all of the chracters in the game. My favorite version of the game is %Empires currently. I love being able to take over China. is so much fun. and it can be done from my own den. That's something i think just about anybody can look forward to.
As for the addiction factor...it's totally addicting. i got so many people addicted to it just by showing them the case of the pictures i have on my laptop. the addiction factor is through the ozone layer. but that's part of it's appeal.

Aah, love this game so hard 8D The character designs are /amazing/. I'm always on the edge of my seat waiting to see the new characters they add when there are new games to come out.
Zhang He was the first character I ever played, so I'll always like him. Sima Yi is also full of awesome, although I really hate his voice in 5 D= On Shu army, Ma Chao is easily my favorite, but Jiang Wei and Guan Yu also kick much butt. I don't usually play Wu as often, but I love Taishi Ci to pieces. He's probably one of my favorite characters in the book; I just wish they'd give him a beard in the game, too :< As for the unaffiliated characters, Zuo Ci rocks my socks.
Samurai Warriors is sweet, too, although I find 2-player in the first game kind of annoying 'cause of how taxing it looks like it is on the processor. So much lag, and you really can't see far at all D= The mission system is fun, though. Makes it require a little more strategy than I RUN IN AND KILL J00 ALL, which is interesting. My favorite character from the first game is probably Yukimura (( ANTLERS FTW~ )), and in 2, I like Ishida and Naoe best. Mitsunari because he's got a /really/ interesting and unusual moveset, and Naoe because he's everything I love about both Ma Chao and Zuo Ci, with an awesome costume.
It really surprised me how angsty SW2 is, though =O The character development is interesting, but they really didn't need to make /everyone/ an angst potato to have character development.
*wiggles fingers at Buckwheat Noodles* You want to buy DW3 because the Japanese voices are niftacular~ [/jedimindtricks]

Yay for Dynasty Warriors! I've played 3 and 5 with friends, and am eagerly awaiting 6! (Hopefully it will show a return to Japanese voices, instead of just English voices with horrible pronunciations of Chinese names. Although I'd still love to see Chinese voices, but that probably won't happen.)
I was excited to see the new character designs for Dynasty Warriors 6. There are some interesting reinterpretations of some characters, some that I like.
So many characters that I love . . . . The first that I played was Yue Ying. Then I expanded to other characters, particularly from Shu and Wei, although some Non affiliated characters too. Some, I originally got interested in because they were fun to play in game (ex. Pang Tong - I like how he moves and defies gravity). Others, I got into based on the history (the novel is good, and reading up on the actual history is interesting).

Unfortunately I only have Dynasty Warriors 3. T^T I haven't seem #5 in any of the stores I went to...
My favourite characters are Zhen Ji because of her awesome flute, Ma Chao because of his cool attacks, and Zhang He ... because of his uhm.. prettiness?
haha I really like Dynasty Warriors, it has a good storyline.

I AM COW PEE. PRINCE OF WEI!!!
-snickers at the mispronunciation-
I'm a rather...rather LATE fan. I only got into them when I played Musou Orochi. >w<
We totally need a different/sister thread for Samurai Warriors. People seem to like them too over here.
He he he.
I remember once going to the mall and looking for decors then I saw three very conspicuous items: a peacock, a dragon and a tiger. I think I snickered. I know Wei's a phoenix but... the phoenix is a chimaera like thing with phoenix bits. Ke ke ke.
Since I might as well ask...
HAS ANYONE OF YOU PLAYED MUSOU OROCHI?!
It amused me how they made parallels.
...XD!!!
Though I must say, if you've played an upgraded version say---on Musou for either SW 2/DW5, when you go back you forget that wait... Mitsunari doesn't fire arrows here. Nor does he have a funky jump.
Damn.

Oh I loved playing as Sun Ci. His Tonfa weapons of powah beat its way into my heart x3.
It sucks though. I had the whole Dynasty collection till my brother sold it for pot money! D: I was absolutely crushed, especially after I found out Generals was stolen. I miss my uber created characters that I so diligently worked on a back story for. I will always remember my female with a giant sword of destroying. x3
I should really buy the games again, I mean they should be pretty cheap, don't cha think? Especially one through three. They're getting pretty old now, so I guess it's the right time to jump on them before they hit that "So old and good it should rise in price" level.

Dynasty Warrior
Anyone excited about this? It's a dynatsy warrior game except its coming out for the PC. An online interactive kind of game and its suppose to be released in a year or two..something like that I last read. It's already out in Japan and seems to be popular. I don't know its a pay-to-play kind of game but it does look good.
You make your chracter and its fighting and leveling up kind of game. You also run into famous characters as you play it along the way but you can't be them of course. It's also a typical war kind of game except its a bit of a MMORG RPG kind of game.
Will you get it when it comes out? Anyone a fan of DW?

Dynasty Warriors is an awesome game though they are all the some story each game is different slightly, that whats makes all the games worth playing, i really enjoyed the sixth one, i love playing as Sun Shang Xiang she is awesome!!!
i prefer to play as the female characters because they are faster then the male characters.
over all i really love this set of games, i also enjoy the Japanese counterpart Samurai Warriors,(note: dynasty warriors takes place in warriors takes place
China, while samurai warriors takes place in Japan. even though they are basically the same game, just different weapons and characters.)
