When I first played Xenosaga I, I was astounded by the wonderfulness of this game. The plot was brillant, and drew me in.

Next to Aeris, KOS-MOS has to be one of my favorite characters in all of videogameland. Her story is so beautiful, especially what was revealed in Xenosaga III.

As for gameplay, I and III were the best. The same goes for story. While II wasn't completely awful, it lacked the calibur of the other two in my opinion. (Also, KOS-MOS's voice actor sucked)

The only thing that really bugged me was Shion's overall whiny character. It's really awesome to see a girl as the main character, but Shion grates on my nerves.

So everyone, which Xenosaga games have you played?
Do you have a favorite character, and why do you like them?
What did you think about the philosophy that they put in the plot?
What did you think of the overall story?
What didn't you like about them?

Anything else as well <3

Which Xenosaga games have you played?
I've played Xenosaga I and II.
Do you have a favorite character, and why do you like them?
I've always liked KOS-MOS, but they all kinda grow on you after a while. x3
What did you think about the philosophy that they put in the plot?
It was a little confusing...like when they're talking with all these codes names and whatnot. @[email protected];
What did you think of the overall story?
Well, I haven't beat one yet, and I'm stuck on two...but I like the storyline, and there's a lot of it. :O
What didn't you like about them?
Xenosaga II didn't give me much time to level up before entering MOMO's mind, so I'm stuck there now...trying to beat the boss with my low-leveled characters...seems almost impossible for me. ;;

It's futuristic, and contains a bunch of philosophy and other interesting plotlines along the way. I find it particularly interesting that they pretty much stick with the same set of characters throughout the entire series, with the exception of Jin in the second game.

There are these beings called the Gnosis, and they appeared in the world at a certain point, and can crystalize a human when they touch you. The Gnosis are also unable to be effected by any physical means because they exist on a different plane of being. However, KOS-MOS is an anti-gnosis cyborg that has this certain ability (The Hilbert Effect) that brings them on the same level as humans, and able to be fought.

It brings so many interesting ideas to the table. What if a world was beyond even cyborgs? This world has these beings called "realians" which are living things that humans create that are very similar to humans, but are programed?

It's hard to explain. And that's only one of the facets that the game covers. XD

I only ever played the first one and sadly never even got all the way through it. (the friend I had who had it joined the army and skipped state) but I loved the story-line. My favorite character was MoMo, and I guess the thing I didn't like was the thing I loved, the story-line. Hour long cut scenes were nice sometimes, but most of the time it just drove me insane.

Aeris KOS-MOS isn't a cyborg, she an android a completely mechanical being. While the cyborg is Ziggy, a being that still possess human part but with the addition of mechanical parts.
O_o I am sorry Aeris, I am sucha fan and addict of the series. ^^;
I have problems, if I am this addicted to a game I should see a therapist.

I had that problem too. What I did was I save my game after beating all the enemies on the road that leads to the boss. Then re-loaded it from the main menu. Why? because the enemies sometimes come back when you reload.

Anyway
which Xenosaga games have you played?
I am proud to say I have played and completed all three of them. Xenosaga one and three are my favorite. In fact I played them three times each. ♪
Do you have a favorite character, and why do you like them?
Yes I do, I like KOS-MOS (whenever she's available I alway put her in my battle party) at first because of her slight realism as in she was really acting like an android unlike the ones I have seen in anime. And her sense of mystic or mysterious background. My second favorite is chaos once again because of his mysterious background and for his attitude. But after I while I kinda grew to love'em all Shion, Ziggy, Jr., MOMO, Canaan, Jin, and etc...
What did you think about the philosophy that they put in the plot?
They were very interesting and compelled me to do further research on them.
What did you think of the overall story?
It was well constructed and filled with twists and turns.
What didn't you like about them
Xenosaga two's side quest where you have to help people. It took far to long running around delivering this and that to some one, I felt like a mailman or girl in my case. And the hour long cut-scenes.

Which Xenosaga games have you played?
I've completed 1 and am currently playing 2. In fact, I have it on right now - I need to go back and keep levelling up.

Do you have a favorite character, and why do you like them?
I am completely intrigued by Kevin and I do know a bit of what's to come because I'm a present-shaker and I like to read spoilers. I think I always liked the people I felt sorry for. So for instance, in episode 1, I liked Cherenkhov and Allen. Especially Allen - poor little dorky guy! As far as character design, though, Pellegri and Shelley were my two favorites.

What did you think about the philosophy that they put in the plot?
I never really get into the philosophy of games, truthfully. I just play them for the overall story and never get real deep or philosophical about them. I do like how they tried to really back up each character, place, and item with deep meaning, though.

What did you think of the overall story?
Pretty good, though a bit convoluted at least right now in Episode 2. Or maybe I've been distracted while playing it a bit, but I find myself not following it as well as I followed Episode 1.

What didn't you like about them?
Shion! I liked her fine in the first game, but she's snappy and hormonal this game! She snaps at everyone! I just passed the part where she was in her room talking to Miyuki on the little video screen and basically dressed her down saying that this was not a time for chatting. Poor Miyuki! I was glad when she told Shion she was being mean. And don't even get me started on how she treats Allen! Yes, he's a dork. Yes, he can be annoying. But still! And Jin - I'm glad he just blows her off when she's gripey toward him.

One thing I do have to mention that I do love, is the soundtrack from the first game. It's gorgeous!

Only the first, which I haven't beaten. I also own the second, however. :3

Do you have a favorite character, and why do you like them?
My favorite character to use in battles is, of course, KOS-MOS. I don't have a favorite one in regards to the story... ^^;

What did you think of the overall story?
Kind of confusing... but, again, I haven't played them all yet...

What didn't you like about them?
Cut scenes so long they have save points during them... ~_____~;;;

Yeah that worked for me so I don't see why it won't work for you. But I'll take awhile because the loading and saving takes very long in Xenosaga II.

So true it is like a movie but then again to me any RPG games is a movie where you are capable of controlling the characters. In fact you can even make them wear swim suits. xD

Thou Ziggy's Swimming gear in Xenosaga III... I don't want to spoil the surprise for anyone so, let's just say once you see it. It'll be burn into your eyeballs. 8D

Gaina, I actually played Xenogears several years before I ever played Xenosaga. I just don't really count them in the same series. I heard initially that Xenosaga was supposed to be a 6 part series and was to include the remake of Xenogears as Episode 4 or 5, but either that was just a rumor or they just decided to end it at 3. I mean, they are clearly related, but I guess I just consider the Xenosaga storyline to be its own thing.

But I liked Xenogears too! Once I got past Calamity, that is. I loved Elly!

Actually, since Xenogears and Xenosaga were produced by different companies, they ended not being linear plots. (copyright issues I suppose) The makers of both Xenos however remained the same.

I've heard such wonderful things about Xenogears, and I want to play it. Someday I'll buy it off Ebay...

Which Xenosaga games have you played?
I've played through all of them. My favorite definitely had to be the first one. The cinematic feel and movies were beautifully done. Although it was sometimes really annoying how many movies there were between gameplay. But they were still drool worthy.

Do you have a favorite character, and why do you like them?
I have a ton of favorites. I chaos most of all though. He was always kind, but still had so much mystery to him. There is still a lot about him I still don't get. Jr. is my second favorite. His back story is so interesting too. The constant and intertwined stories between him and Albedo is so intriguing. Ziggy and Momo are my other fave. You really can't separate the two in a favorites list. They are too awesome as a psudo Father and daughter pair. Too cute!

What did you think about the philosophy that they put in the plot?
A lot of it was really hard to understand I think, but still I don't think the plot would have been the same without the philosophy and religion added to it. It kind of makes you want to go out and research all the nuances they added to the game.

What did you think of the overall story?
Wonderful story. ^^o I loved playing through it all. I want to play thorough again sometime to catch all the things I might have missed.

What didn't you like about them?
I was a fan of Xenogears when that came out. It was exciting for me to see a somewhat finalization of their original idea.

One thing I really enjoy about Xenosaga is how unique it is. Fantasy is the order of the day when it comes to most RPGs, but Xenosaga is absolute sci-fi; it feels more like interactive anime than an RPG to me, actually. I love the treatment of humans versus robots, because I'm interested in the philosophical question of what separates humans from other forms of life. I think Shion was an interesting choice for a main character, too.

My favorite character is Ziggy. I enjoy characters who struggle with memory, and Episode 1 leads him to the cusp of an important choice-- the peace of unfeeling, or the sweetness and pain of life? I liked chaos as well, and Jr. Oddly I'm not a fan of most of the female characters, though I love KOS-MOS' design.

I've only played the first two games, because the second one made me really angry for various reasons. I hear III is good, though, so I'm sure I'll pick it up someday.

A thing I dislike about XS is something it brought to the genre as a whole: the in-game encyclopedia. Later games like Star Ocean III seemed to use it as a crutch, and even XS itself falls into the sci-fi trap of filling it with ridiculous jargon... Ah, well.

Most of the female aren't really likable or interesting. I like Momo, but thats about it.

The third game is really good. I think it picked up on the good points of the first and second game and merged then. So all in all it is so much better then the second. Its sad they made so many mistakes with the second game.

I was so upset when they decided to cut it short. It was because the game didn't have enough popularity. It had so much mystery and potential too! I am so tired of all the stupid shooting male games taking the spotlight!

I like all the characters, really.
My favorite character was KOS-MOS until the third game. She just lost her coolness after that for some reason.
I love Jr. second for his fiery personality.
