Basically, globalisation is the intergration of all cultures, economies, and society in general.

Points for globalisation:
Its kind of inevitable, unless each country sets up strict guidelines.
Its good for trade (for certain countries)
It brings new technology and medicine to everyone
You learn about different cultures that you otherwise wouldn't have known.
Increased awareness of diseases and global warming, collective efforts to solve them.

Points against globalisation:
All the talented people go to the country that pays them the most, if that's not your country, bad luck.
Greater competition for jobs, homes, and resources. Instead of competing against people in your country, you are competing against the world.
It get more and more difficult to start a business on your own, as the big multinationals spraw everywhere and take over everything. Most peole will end up working for those companies at peanut wages.

So what do you think, for or against?

Also, just for fun, is it really globalisation, or is it just Americanisation?

I think "Americanization" is a much more realistic term... To really become truly globalized, the world's government system has to be changed. Of course, Americans want a democracy like they have it, other countries want their governments... etc. Personally I like I like the UK's system better (I'm an Amercian). The US's system is antiquated and ineffective. But that's another topic..

Uhh.. I'm against globalization right now. I think eventually the world will grow together, but I don't see the point in forcing it before its time. I think the countries to strive to help each other, but not necessarily integrate each other. People right now are too different. Heck, the US has enough problems with people being different--do you think the world could deal with value systems that are equally as strong?

I think what is really beneficial from globalization can be done without globalization. We already share technology, medicines. There is already a movement begun for a worldwide effort against global warming.

globalisation is a good thing as long as they don't use loop holes to avoid taxes.

That already happens. People move from different countries all the time for job offers.

I don't see how that's even possible. If there was globalization they'd work out a minimum wage and I doubt they'd lower it to lower than what it is now in america. (7.25 at a national level now.)
