I certainly wouldn't turn down the opportunity to have kids but that just has never been an option for me. I've had problems for many years that has had me on the pill. I was recently taken off of it and things finally seem to be ok so maybe in a couple more years I might consider it even if I have to adopt.
Of course being single doesn't help either but there are ways around that too.

Ew, kids. I can't stand the little buggers... which is why I'm insanely grateful that my mother doesn't really like kids, either. Which means I never have to deal with someone pressuring me to have any, 'cause it just ain't gonna happen.

oh i see, that's some career. i think i wouldn't be able to teach teens, i am a bit afraid of them. they can be so bad towards teachers when they don't want to learn. (and it seems most of them don't want to) are you a strict teacher?
i can imagine that the children love you ^^ that's cool.

Not swimming lessons just yet - probably next summer we'll do that. She does have a weekly music class which she loves, though, and a playgroup we go to regularly and she gets to do different things with that (last week was a visit to the aquarium and fun outside in this playground). She's starting to do a lot more rollplay with her "baby" so I think while we're in town tomorrow, we'll stop by Toys R Us and see if they have any little items that can be fun for her - like a play diaper bag or baby bed or something. She already has this little stroller she loves pushing the doll around all over the house in. And then we do stuff like Playdoh, coloring, playing with her play kitchen, her blocks, alphabet magnets, books, and we go outside pretty regularly to run around. I guess we're doing plenty! I've got to remember that her fun isn't as involved as more grownup fun!

That's a sad and true fact. I've had to take some 'normal' classes for electives because there was no honors or AP option, and some kids just sit there and don't do anything. They complain the whole time. I always want to ask 'then why are you taking this class if you don't care?!' -- but I can't. I don't feel like starting any drama with a younger student, especially since I'm of age and they are not. :?

I think I would have a full-frontal lobotomy before ever agreeing to teach anything to any group of kids between the middle school and high school ages. I remember MY high school... the kids made a regular habit of locking my Algebra teacher in his office, fer christ sakes. And someone else threw a chair at him at one point. Frankly, kids at that age in large groups are a bunch of hormonal little monsters. Only they're not so little. In fact, they can be incredibly dangerous at times. *shakes head*

I was thinking the same thing.
I guess you have to be very brave and at least half crazy to choose to teach in those age groups.
I supose somebody has to do it until they come up with exclusively on-line education for high schools.

I dunno that that's gonna happen anytime soon... not nation-wide, anyhow. There will always be people freaked out about public school and decide to have their kids homeschooled, but after all, as crappy as high school is, that's a time when a lot of kids learn how to interact with their peer group on a slightly more adult level. You take those sort of interactions out of the mix, and you end up like me, completely incapable of making small talk or interacting socially with people they don't know all that well.

It can be frustrating teaching to teens but i am the kind of strict teacher that talks to them and i am the kind of teacher that is on their "wave" lol and so I understand them i mean seems impossible but i do teach and I do get involve so they end up trusting me and loving me aswell =) ( you know even if people think so kids acually dont like teachers that do not get involved or the ones that do nothing all year, they are not stupids and they like you caring, not stupidly caring and not understanding....oh i dont know if you guys will understand this is complicated but yeah i do get along) hehe thanks God cause it is hard more nowadays and yeah 1st and second week of classes you live in hell but then they start knowing you =)

Of course, you have to think in fun at "her" level see? but actually you are doing a PRETTY GOOD job in there dear hahahah your baby has a cute caring mother yay ^^ dont worry ok? try to relax and have fun yourself I know it is difficult not being paying her attention 24/7 of course but let it flow and relax she will enjoy more if she can experimenting and you will enjoy watching her grow^^

@Nuriko Windchaser
Very true.
Two of my cousins were home schooled, but they had structured activities with their peers and they came out good. They're both in conventional colleges now.
I could see how a strictly home schooled, especially in a smaller town environment, would hinder social skills from developing properly.

Of course they can be dangerous hehe >.< you have no idea how many stories I have to tell...but you know what? I always think, these kids need love aswell and everybody seems to hate the age group and the teachers who accept to teach them they do that so angrily and ....idk i think what if this was my son's class I would like them to have a loving enviroment, someone to talk...not a bitchy teacher that ruins their mood even more....Idk call me crazy x.x I am very idealistic

we dont have homeschool where I live, I have no idea how that work, would you tell me about it? Ive heard that parents can teach their kids, but...do parents know about the subjects like a teacher ...and are they prepared to deal having in mind the pedagogic aspect? sorry I am not saying they cannot handle it probably they can even better than some teachers but some other parents might not be really skilled idk, also isnt it like a little bit boring to be all day home i mean isnt that putting them in isolation? though I can understand that sometimes it might be necesary for studdents with behaviour problems....idk really
