I can't believe that no one is homeschooled where you live... it's probably just rarer and you probably wouldn't really know about it unless you went out of your way to find out. But essentially, the short of it is that (at least in America) as long as a kid can pass the required tests to graduate a certain level of education (such as the GED) then they're considered the same as kids who graduate the normal way. So parents, noting that you have to be a retarded monkey to fail to give a better education than most public schools, either hire tutors or invest in learn at home programs or computer programs. There are a lot of these things marketed out there, ranging from full sets of textbooks and lesson plans, to simpler things for those parents who just want to give their kid an extra advantage in those specific tests.

And really, it's only the high school graduation that matters for finding those lower rank jobs... and for furthering your education, schools really look at your SAT and ACT test scores more than they do individual school grades. Heck, there are even colleges now that offer completely online degrees.

Oh ..I see...well in my country it is not legal home education, you have to send your kid to school by law so no kid is being taught at home.
I didnt know there were so many materials for parents to teach and it is awesome and cool that there is this thing so it seems like if they really want to do it then their kids will be even better prepared than the school kids =) i think it is fine then just a bit worried about seeing kids hating their mothers for being their teachers and the social aspect but of course that depends on comunities and many things.

The home school course that my cousins took was structured with materials sent to my aunt and also involved online learning.
They had traditional graduation ceremonies where those completing required course work for a certain time frame participated.
The credits earned were adequate to gain entrance not only to community college. but in my elder cousins case, a University as well.

We have home schooling here but I'm not so sure that I would have the patience to do it.

We have a client that his daughter was expelled from school and she had to be home schooled while her case was going on and she totally hated it. She says it's boring. She doesn't get to see her friends. She was so glad to be back at school this year.

wow that is sooo cool ^^ they might be very happy I am happy that there was a happy ending for this, although, look at what roocee exposed above your message, I think it depends on the case and many other things but sometimes it doesnt end up well....I think it is like school in a way, you have good schools and bad schools.

I'm not surprised that all cases of home schooling are not successful.
As I had mentioned in my first reply on this subject, my cousins were involved in activities with members of their church so that they would have more developed social skills and they only had home schooling from pre-school through grade 12.
I'm not saying it's for everyone.

A guy I used to work with home schooled his kids and they were smarter than kids twice thier age.

good evening everyone, well it's evening here :)

lots of chatter going on!

i'd never heard of home schooling until i joined Gaia and saw my American friends talking about it...since then though i have found out that it does go on in the UK, though not in all areas, and you do need to be up to speed on your subjects to be allowed to do it.

i suppose it all depends on the parent and how much fun they can make it, at a certain age everything you do is about learning. but once you get into petulant teenage i can see things being a bit trying! but if a kid gets along well with their parent/teacher then good luck to them.
to my mind though, home schooling defeats one of the objectives of getting your kids into school, which is to get them out of the house during the day! so many of the parents that i know, long for the end of the school holidays...

I hadn't realized there was music until I started to hear scratching that was coming from seemingly no where.... My bro uses a head set so that's our speakers technically so I hadn't realized there was music at all.

I agree with you see? I think kids need interaction with kids and ppl who are not their parents to be in contact with reality but well I heard here of some good experiences though they had strong support from church and they kids gathered after classes or something like that it all depends =)

Yeah I know... I was at future shop and decided to come on Mene with one of the laptops I want... No one was online so I was trying to play with just the pad and totally lost... >.> When I get a laptop if I want to play that game I'll have to buy a mouse.

Kale i don't think icould ever manage without a mouse, fiddling about with a pad looks like way too much trouble to me!

my friend had a laptop with a rollerball type thing and whilst playing a game, ended up flipping the thing off the desk and into the wall!

i'd say a mouse is the easier option :lol:
