I usually use this user name because I've never been to a site where it was taken, plus it's easier to remember one or two screen names than having to remember ten different ones.

I would think its just easier to remember, especially if you are on several different sites. I don't use the same passwords though. You can never be too careful, especially nowadays.

I use a single screen name for two sites maximum.

I don't want people to know me from one site to the next. I want to build my reputation up on my own shoulders, not from friends I've already made. I'm a regular on a number of debate forums, and I'm always careful not to let my name get ahead of me there. It only drags along old grudges and arguments, as well as stupid alliances. If you guys like me, it's got to be because of what I've done here.

Counting it out, I've got four screen names. And none of them are at all related. So good luck ever trying to guess them. ;)

Hmm I guess it depends. My password is in a dead language and is something really random though so I dont see much harm in it.

I usually only use the same name on two sites. I used to you alchemyrocks a lot. I wonder why I stopped using that. I still like the name.

I do because it's a name that I go by everywhere--it's me, in a big way.

I have a mule account by this name on gaia, but my main one Minyaagar, I use a lot of different places. Why it is, probably because it's just easy to remember. But I don't use the same password everywhere.

I actually have about 4-5 screen names I go by ^^ Though I'll admit, they all include Dae in them.
But as a general answer to your question, it's probably so you don't have to remember 50 different screen names if you happen to belong to a lot of forums or something. It just makes things easier sometimes.

I use the same screen name if I can everywhere for a number of reasons:

- Because I identify with my username.

- Because I like it

- Because I want to be known by this username

- Because I can't be bothered changing if I can

- Because I don't want to have to remember too many usernames

And that's about it.

I guess its something like that; A personal identity other than your name.
It means more to us than our actual name because we identify more with it, as its personal and made up by us (with references to things we like).
I dont necessarily want people ro recognize me everywhere, but the same set of usernames makes ME feel better. n_n
I dont have different personalities under different usernames, nah. I have a lot: Savemekaizer, neur0mancer, 2jane, MonaLisa0verdrive, Arccy... I act the same on all of them. :3
I keep the same BASE password, but I mix it up a bit depending on what site i'm on. Its not the safest, but I'm fine with that.
I'm not necessarily proud of my avi(s), but I identify with them. The green/purple color scheme is something I use often. <3

I think that we use usernames or screennames so that we can elude others of our true selves and then run and hide if we feel that they are rejecting us. Its hard coz you don't really know someone online but you still can feel a connection.

I use the same name everywhere because it's just because it's easier for people to find me on different sites and they don't have to say "Hmm she's -Username- on -Site- and -Username- on -Another Site-." As for my passwords I have different passwords for each of them so I suppose its safer then useing the same password.

As for my avi's Menewsha and Gaia both have blue hair but on Varus I have brown hair, but I dress her in blues.
I just love the color blue so all my avi's usually represent that.

I use the same name everywhere so I don't have to sit there and think of a new name. And I really don't see any reason to have a different name for every site... That would make it hard, because then not only do I have to remember all the passwords, but I have to remember a bunch of screen names too. I try not to confuse myself any more than I have to. XD And I also like to use the same name so that people recognize me. A lot of times I see the same people on different sites because they use the same name, so I like to use the same name too. I've had people ask me, "Are the the same Vickicat on such and such site?" or tell me they've seen me on another site or whatever. XD It's fun to have people recognize me in different places.

To me, it just seemed easier using the same name for Gaia and Menewsha. But I only have the same name on those two sites, and Roliana.

I have a few usernames that I repeat on almost every site that I visit. Oddly enough, the one I mostly use, is the_anna135. Odd because that wasn't even decided by me. Someone else signed up on Neopets for me and used that username, ignoring my protests. I guess it sort of stuck onto me, though I prefer the other username that I choose for my mule, Panther. I use that in other places, among with Pantheria and Pantherian. I'm a fan of Panthers. I don't know why I do this. Maybe its because my memory is limited and its nice to have only one username to remember. I vary my passwords though.

Ahhhhhh I love it when I dont remember a username and a password on a site and enter the usual one and it works!!! then I thank myself for always having the same one, well actually not only one but a serie of well known passwords and the username it is always the same =D ahhhh pleasure! the only thing that complicates me sometimes is the email cause that one I have changed a couple of times and it makes it difficult for confirmation etc when I go back to old sites I havent visited in a while and have to think ok what email was I using when I registered here hehehhe xD

I use several usernames, but I have several main ones. Coldshadowsnight, Admonished Nonsense, and EscapedMeltdown. It just makes things easier for me, so I don't have to remember so many places XD.
