I had that problem with my savings account with Wells Fargo. Since the account was in my name and my moms they refused to let me do anything without her there. It was really frustrating because I was over 18 and the account was supposed to roll over into just my name when I turned to an adult. But they said that for some reason my birth date wasn't entered so it didn't rollover and I couldn't close the account without my mom. This was a time when I lived over 3 hours away too. Eventually I got up there and got my mom to close the account with me. It was such a pain though that I will never bank with them again. </3
Cami- The nicknames have nothing to do with Heather. XD Although one lady I work with started calling me Heather-Bell for some reason. :? Shes worked here for over 21 years, so I let her call me whatever she likes. XD But when I was in highschool my friends and I were all into Sailor Moon so I was called Minako, and then when I went to Japan my host-mom called me Momo. ^^ Joe sometimes calls me Momo but its usually hun or babe.

I kinda had that same problem with Bank of America I wasn't an adult yet though but my mom wanted me to have the account all to myself. the biggest problem I had was proving I was who I am. :/ They wanted like 3 forms of picture ID and I only had two because School didn't count. Eventually my mom just closed the account on her own and gave me the check which I then deposited into my new join checking account with Scott XD

I had a bank account growing up (I think I opened it when I was eight), and I never tried to take any money out until sixteen or seventeen, and I couldn't because when I opened it it was set up that I needed a parent's permission to take out money.

if you had been an adult you should have been able to. I have savings accounts for my kids already. any money they get goes into it. Unless there is something they need right away and Scott and I don't have the money for it >.< But once they turn 18 I am going to sign the accounts over to them <3

Yeah. I think that's what my mom did. I'm not with them anymore though because it was a local bank.

I really wish I would have had something like that when I was growing up. We just didn't have such things.

Even though I only had a savings account my bank decided to send me a debit card. thats a good idea for a 13 year old. I spent money I really shouldn't have, but oh well. When I was growing up any babysitting or pet sitting job I had half of my earning went into savings.^^
Just back from lunch. Joe came by and took me out.<3 It was really good, but our waitress failed. XP

I didn't start my savings account as a kid until I was 13. My grandparents had started one for my oldest brother when he was a baby. So while his had like $500 in it mine only had like $50 XD And so I decided to start the kids savings accounts while they are still really young <3 That way they get more interest and what not.

I've never had to pay for an account XD
And I figure as long as I keep adding to their accounts they should have a nice sum of money later on to start out life on their own with. At least enough for one months rent groceries, and utilities :P

It's a great idea Mel. Especially with the way things keep rising in price. Tuition I figure will never be paid for with a savings by the time my niece is ready for college. I see her having to have student loans.

I was really into saving money. I had a lot by the time I was eighteen, just on allowance, not spending all of the lunch money my mom gave me, and the occasional pet sitting job.

ugh, I wory about the price of tuition >.< It is already so high! And if it just keeps going up it is soon going to be next to impossible to go through college with OUT getting a student loan.

This is very true...but student loans teach kids (even college kids) about responsibility and what it's like to live in the real world. Not saying that it's wonderful, but just another fact of life...right?

I'm scared of student loans XD I'm not even happy with the loan we had to take out to buy the car. XD Knowing that I am in debt annoys me. The house drives me crazy! D: still have 180k left to pay on it too XD [/fail]

What really disturbs me are the commercials on tv for student loans. They really do portray it like free money and not DEBT. Its like "yeah, you can totally get all this money and buy whatever you want". I really don't like that. Personally I refuse to get a student loan. And because of that I'm stuck working all day wishing I could go back to school.

I'm with fflur. Minus the 'working' part. Kinda. :P I don't want to take out more loans then I have to. Once we pay off the car I may consider going back to school because then we will have extra money. But before then it just isn't practicle even with the help that the government allows. Though I don't remember if they do help spouses, or if it is just the service member :/ Scott mentioned something about helping the spouse before. >.< but I can't remember what exactly.

Damn it...time to go back to work...so terribly bored! There is nothing to do. *head hits desk*
My employers have also offered to pay for classes that further our education, as long as it is business related. Spanish classes...here I come.
