Exactly snow. I don't see a problem with a smack on the hand or the bum if necessary. You can't always just talk. You are the parent, they are the child/children. You can't let them walk all over you.

It is hard to decide where to draw the line. Because you do want your kids to like you, and know that they can come to you with a problem, even if they know you won't be happy about what happened. ^^;; I never really had a good relationship with my mom which is why I waited a couple of months before telling her I was pregnant. No one wants to hear that their daughter is pregnant at 17 >.< but that is what happened. I thought she would be angry, instead she was happy. With how she normally treated me I totally didn't expect that reaction. But see, I don't want my kids to be scared to come to me when they have problems or are getting into something they aren't sure of. (serious relationships/sex) You have to be at least kinda of their friend for them to trust you, but at the same time you know you need to be the parent and try to steer them away from dangerous situations before they become a problem >.<

Joe and I were both raised in homes that were over zealous when it came to discline. We also say that we never want what happened to us happen to our children, but we also won't tolerate an out of control child. But since we don't have kids yet its hard to tell. XD But with Coco she gets time out and an occaisonal smack on the butt if shes been really bad. She knows whats right and wrong, and has gotten to the point that if I say "time out" she runs back into the bedroom and straight into her kennel. ^^;

Thats why I said at the end its difficult creating balance. :3 Last post for the day. I can only visit everybody once. T.T Well I snuck a second time for Mel. I have to run. TTYL!
Overzealous is the word in my case...even if I get pregnant when I'm older I'd still be uncomfortable about telling my mom. We have a really poor relationship..parenting is hard.

My parents never really disciplined me, but I also wasn't the kind of kid who needed disciplining. I kept to myself, read books, and never revealed the vast number of plots that I was a part of. :3nod:

The only two times I can recall getting in trouble as a child were when my dad yelled at me for crying (which I did fairly often) and when my parents sent me to my room (I don't recall why), and I just started reading a book, and didn't come out when they said I could because I was into the story.

<3 snow loves me more :P

Parenting is hard and worse when some parents just don't get it at all. *sigh* I'm trying to do better than my parents we'll see how it goes?

anyway while I was fishing the kids got their tomato soup all over the coffee table so I have to clean that before it ends up on the cats. ... don't ask. trust me, you don't want to know.

the table is clean! yay <3 no tomato soup cats ^^

Kura likes to pick te cats up and put them on the table they try to run, she ends up dragging them around on there, and I really don't want to have to try and give the cats a bath. Totally wouldn't be a good scene...

Poor kitties. XD

My bio. dad was psycho. I remember getting my butt beat for forgetting to open the blinds on my bedroom window. And one time in high school he threw a wrench at me because he was frustrated at his motorcycle and I was walking by. Because everything was my fault naturally. :roll:

fflur- wow :/ crazy psycho. I think he would be written out of my life. No point in keeping someone like him around.

Cami- Spice would love for you to do that lol. He hides in the laundry room all day waiting for the kids to go to sleep. Once they are in their beds he comes out and plays, but never before then.

<<,, A healthy attitude I'm sure.

Yeah, there's always a line you have to walk with kids. Fflur's dayd was obviously in the far wrong, and it's easy to tell when a parent is too lenient, but finding the perfect balance is difficult.

And made more difficult by the fact that everyone has different opinions of where the line should be drawn. For one person, slapping a kid's hands is a sensible discipline, while another person might consider it beating them. Like the person who was arrested in Wal-Mart for having spanked their kid (who was acting up) in public.

Edit to Mel: XD /adopts Spice/ Is that the red or the gray one? I'd guess the red one.

Someone got arrested for that? Crazy. IMO that would be like arresting someone for keeping their kid on a child harness. I know a lot of people that consider that child abuse. :/

Spice is the gray one. Pumpkin is the red/orange one (: Pumpkin lets himself get captured and plays tag with kura. It's cute <3 social cat. and good with kids. He's so prefect. lol.

Oh yeah, hes long gone. When my mom finally decided to divorce him I told her it was "about damn time". He still trys to force his way into my life but the 3000 mile separation helps a lot. That and a couple phone number changes. XD

I am worried about when Joe and I start having children though. Since I am his only blood related child, I have a strong feeling he will try to claim my children. </3 He always causes so much drama.

You seem fairly well-adjusted, considering all of this.

How does the fishing work, exactly? I only played with the free bait they gave us in the beginning.

O.o they gave us free bait at the beginning! D: where was I?
you catch trash for about 3 days and lose gold, but once you make it to about day 4 you start gaining some of the gold back then by day...8? ish? you're making profit on everything that you lost to begin with. So about a week worth of fishing puts you back in the green completely. <3 just fish 100 times a day (200 gold on bait) and you should be there in no time. Fish generally start arriving after 320 experience. I think my first showed up at 360 though. made 20 gold that day? lol.

fflur- Just don't tell him you have them. Can't chance him throwing wrenches at babies because they are crying adn he is frusterated. Gotta keep your kids well being in mind at all times, He can just learn to deal with the consequences of his past actions. I only let my dad see them when someone else is around ^^;; Not that he was anything as bad as yours, just that he can't handle kids very well and when kids stress him out he thinks hitting them is the way to get them to shut up. Not quite how it works. It makes them scream more because not only are they in pain but they are also scared. :/ dad's need a training camp of some sort... Scott gets edgy with them now and then too... I think it is another testosterone thing... that stuff is dangerous.

Roo- <3 gotta keep you at the top of the forum for when you take a short break from working!

If you do it everyday, which I don't, and you fish the 100 times you are allowed, you can turn a profit from what you catch. It takes 200g for 100 bait. I only lost about 46g today.

lol go do your homework Cami!

and it really only takes about 20 minutes to get through the bait once you start if you just go with it. Or less I dunno I always get distracted. But really I just try to get through it for the gold. Not that I don't like the game just that there are other things I would rather do. ^^;;

Made 130 on it today!

[edit] I managed to sing the entire colors of the wind song with out realizing it until the end. @[email protected] I think this movie is done...)
