Love to hate:
Capitan James Hook. Very pretty hair. Clearly some sort of twisted pedo'd up variation of the children's father figure.
Chauvelin, very easy to hate whilst admiring his evil genius and witty reporte. Especially helpful that he was played by young Ian McKellen in the 1982 version of the Scarlet Pimpernel.
Just Hate
Black Jack from outlander. What an unmitigated and unimaginable basta*d.

The Character Iago from Othello! I just want to strangle his neck everytime I read about him! He gets me in such a twist it just hurts to think about it! Grrrrr He is such a greedy mean and vengeful character arg! It is just like Iago off of Aladin but I guess they would be considering the Iago on Aladin is based off Iago off of Othello! So they are the same character! I hate both of them soo much!

Bella Swan from the Twilight series. She is the authors self-insertion into the series. In fact, I pretty much hate most of the Twilight characters. Yes, even Edward.
Ginny Weasley from Harry Potter. I liked her at first, and then she started speaking. Apparently Rowling based her off her daughter. So Rowling's daughter is apparently a bitch. She's rude and nasty and frankly I don't find her jokes to be funny.
Edna Pontellier from the Awakening. Feminism my ass, she was selfish. I feel bad for her kids. :[

Jackie Faber, from the Bloody Jack series. The most irritating little... If I could murder her, I would. And then I would murder the author who created her.
I must admit to hating Raoul from Phantom as well. Does anyone actually read that story and sympathize with him? The first time I read it, I was really hoping he would die. No dice.
And Harry Potter. I like the series as a whole, but he really didn't deserve to be the main character. Much too whiny and annoying.

Warning: Harry Potter Fan coming through!!!
(LOL)
I loathe Draco Malfoy. Not because he's against Harry or because he's evil, but because he a regular old bully. He only does his insults when teachers aren't around. And when it comes to fighting back, he's not exactly the bravest one there. If he wants to fill in the help sign that says "Bullying Harry Potter" so badly, then he's gotta step it up a notch; not afraid of what can happen to him. Then I'll think about his character ^^

oh wow. the ONLY character from a book that i just could not put up with. and even stopped reading the book!
i believe his name was "David" from the book "Vampire Twins" he just seemed liked a tacked on boyfriend! every time he popped into the scene, i just huffed and hoped he would leave!
the relationship between the Twins was going rough and i wanted more of that, then this dope pops in and just ruins the pacing!

Honestly from Harry Potter I like Harry in the first few books but by the end of the series I hated him and Hermione. I can't stand know it alls like her. I don't mind smart people but I hate the ones who feel like they MUST flaunt it and rub it in when they are right. She also fails to see that she may be wrong about some things. As for Harry he just eventually gets it in his head that none of his friends have ever helped him with anything, and he deserves so much more, and his life has been SO hard. He didn't have a perfect life I know, but he's got friends who care about him, he's got all the Weasley's as the family he never had, and his mum loved him enough to die for him.
As for other books in Fruits Basket I LOATHE Momiji's mom. I actually hate most of the zodiac parents. The Yuki fan club was rather annoying as well.
For Lord of the Rings I hate Denethor, and the black riders. Damn ring wraiths! I would hate Saruman but honestly I loved him in the movie so now I can't hate him.

Meursault from L'Etranger was pretty horrible. I'm not at all a fan of existentialist characters. Also, Oedipus, of Oedipus Rex. He was really a waste of paper. I feel like there are other characters that really rubbed me the wrong way, but I can't remember them right now...

I can't think of any specific characters right
now, but I think it's amazing when authors can
create a character that you hate so much you
don't even want them to be in the book anymore. xD

Until the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, I used to absolutely LOATHE Severus Snape, Beatrix, and Draco Malfoy. Mostly for what they did in Half-Blood Prince. Especially those to traitors, but I've forgiven them... But I still hate Beatrix. :D

I know I am supposed to hate the annoyingly generic villains of books. You know, the dark wizard, the evil cheerleader, the sadistic and abusive father, etc... And I do hate these character. But I find myself hating another group even more.
You know those books that are filled with self-indulgent materialism? The ones where the leading lady is rather obsessed with her shoes and the designer of her clothes and seems to live only to see the next sale?
Yup, I really hate those ladies. I do not CARE about Prada or Guuci or whatever designer labels these authors pimp. I WANT A GOOD PLOT! To squeeze in these 'adorable' obsessions is just annoying and soon after I start reading books with these kinds of characters, I stop in disgust.
I also hate stereotyped gay guys. You know, the ones who are all flirty and girly. FYI authors, not all gay guys are like that, and I find the stereotype quite offensive.

I hate the characters that whine all the time. If there's a problem, all they do is complain about what's wrong and their problems but they don't do anything to fix it and for most of the book, if they appear in the part of book all they do is just whine and whine. The story might be an awesome story and have a great plot but it's just that one or two character(s) that annoy me to death. :x

I would have to say the father and king from Deerskin. Its the only book I ever read that disturbed me so much I was crying. If anyone has ever read deerskin you would totally understand. Its a great book but it is really disturbing.

YES! exactly lol
so i agree with earlier comments of dislike for Clarissa in the Bloody Jack series- snobs really bug me
and some other big ones are: Voldemort, Cho, and.... Harry Potter, not all the time but in the last two books i just wanted to shake him- he was soooo winny! he had his moments where he seemed to redeem himself but then alas he'd bug me again in the next few pages... To me he's kinda like that little brother whom you hate and love.... but mostly hate lol
|
OH THANKS FOR SPOILING THE END FOR ME!!!
No, don't worry. x3;;;
It hadn't even entered my mind that Pip might come close to death (hadn't it? I'm not so sure. Nevermind.)
I'm about two-thirds of the way through, and. I. hate. him. so. much. right. now.
Poor, poor, Joe. At least in hindsight Pip seems to have some compassion.
And Herbert.
Gah. x___x
Snotty protagonist. But since it's my introduction to Dickens (excluding a couple of ghost stories - I love Scrooge; he reminds me of my own uncle. xD) I'm deeply admiring him for being able to keep people's attention while morally repulsing them at the same time.

Well, I've never enjoyed Peter in the Ender's Game books. Even in the later books in the series, I just can't stap the guy.
In the Callahan's books, I've never particularly connected with the characted of Mary Callahan. Time-travelling voluptuous gal, but I still can't get her personality. Or Jake's reaction to her the first time they meet.

Ugh I HATE positivly HATE Harry Potter, he should not be alive even! It would have been better had if they wrote how Voldemort came into power! I would rather read that then the story of a stupid boy growing up in his uncle and aunts closet then receiving a magical letter to Hogwarts, ugh it just makes me MAD that he hasn't died yet :/ its stupid how many times he's almost escaped death, I just don't like the generic plot for him mostly though.
